Disney Wonder - Galveston to San Jaun - January 20, 2017

Here is another idea that was bouncing around in my head.
I have one more to post as well, I just need to finish it.

Happy Monday! :tilt:
I am still watching the weather, and I am sad to report that Cozumel got down into the 40's yesterday for a low.:cold:
I am thinking the same system that is hitting a large part of the US with Jonas, was strong enough to force cold air that far south.
***Side note for a second, if any of our board members are from the area that is getting hit the hardest by Jonas, know that our thoughts and prayers are with you..***
Back to the weather, I am theorizing (which is just a fancy way of saying hoping and praying) that with this winter being so harsh, maybe next winter will be mild. My husband on the other hand did not want to buy into my optimism. Instead, he reminded me that it has been over 30 years since we had a bad winter storm that has brought a considerable amount of snow to central / south Texas, and if it does not hit us this year, that just increases the chance that it will hit next year. I choose to stay positive, but in the case that frigid weather hits Texas next year, and follows us south on the cruise, I give y'all permission to blame my husband.
As for our other stops, George Town is still looking good with temps in the mid 70's to 80, and is showing partly cloudy today.
Jamaica is showing mid 70's to mid 80's for tomorrow with only slight chances of rain until Friday.
And finally, San Juan is showing low 70's to mid 80's on Thursday with a very low chance of rain. Another thing to note about San Juan, is they have a Rip Tide Alert posted (strongest and most dangerous along North West Coast). I do not know if this is a time of year condition, or just the results of tropical weather systems. *Side note, there is currently a front (or the clouds look like a front ) that stretch all the way from New York down to San Juan.
All in all, the weather sounds great for touring. Not so sure about water activities though.

I have San Juan marked as a destination on my Trip Adviser so that I can get suggestions on sites, and activities to do while we are there.
Yesterday, I received an email with some great suggestions. Their tips for fun activities were for: El Yunque Rain forest (the only rain forest in the United States), an Old San Juan segway tour (this would cut down on all of the walking up and down hills...they also have a free hop on and hop off trolley in Old San Juan), Bioluminescent Bay (the bay is lit at night by Pyrodinium Bahamense, microscopic planktons capable of producing natural light at the touch of your hand), and Day trip to the Rio Camuy Cave Park ( which has a million year old cave and the third largests underground river cavern) and Arecibo Observatory (which boasts the largest radar/radio telescope).

Hi I'm from Puerto Rico, if you really want to have a good time you need to go to the Bacardi factory for a free tour and tastings.

If your staying longer on the island you can go for a hike in el yunque park. You'll have a blast and if you take certain hikes you can hike to a water fall.

And 10, you can drive down to the south part of the island, Ponce and visit museums (my favorite being the fire station, guess it goes with being a firefighter) and the coffee plantations. If you rent a car you have to deal with tolls. Depending on what time you go each township has a carnival, that's usually around spring time around Easter. The rum tours are always a blast!!!

Welcome We Want to Wreck-it!
:welcome::welcome::welcome:

It is great to have a Puerto Rico expert on board!!!! I hope you are open for lots of questions.:hyper2:
This will be our first trip there, and I am a bit of an obsessive planner (self diagnosis: OCVPD - Obsessive Compulsive Vacation Planning Disorder).
My first question, before I add you to the FE, Roll Call, and Mixology, where will I be able to find coconut vendors in San Juan?

I look forward to getting to know you and learning all about San Juan.

P.S. We were thinking about doing the Bacardi tour, but I did not see a free option (except for our 15 year old - no drink / no charge:P). We were hoping to time our return to Old San Juan (via fairy) at around 6 so we can enjoy the sunset.

We would like to join the FE Group. Let me know what I need to do to join. Thx!
Jason - I had not heard back from you or seen any new posts. If you are planning your other trip, just keep in the back of your mind that you need to get to 10 posts for the PM function to be opened, and for me to be able to send you the Message with all of the information needed for the FE spreadsheet.

LOL, Coconut vendors will be a over the place, especially in the touristy areas.

The Bacardi factory tour has always been free to the public. The last time I went I took my husband three years ago. What we did was we drove there and went to the visitors area/ shop. We checked in and they checked ID. once they did that they hand each visitor three tickets. While your waiting for your tram to come pick you up there is the store and a sitting area with a bar under a pivallion. You take your tickets over to the bar and you have your choice of adult drinks you can try. It's better to have one while you wait, then the rest when you get back (You get a basic mixology class during the tour, that way you can try something that you like)

Once the tram gets there you go over the the visitors area. Watch a video go thru the history and mixology class. Then you get back on the tram and go back to the pavallion. It's a really nice tour and the drinks are really good.

Another place to go to try so rum is the Don Q tour which is in old San Juan.

Bring walking shoes and water! You will need it!!!
