I want to create a new thread for this cruise date: May 20-23, 2016 Bahamas Cruise on Disney Dream! My husband, daughter, parents and I have booked our very first cruise!!! We visit Disney World at least once per year and love the idea of a Disney cruise. Our daughter will almost be 15 months old during our cruise, so this will be an adventure! We are staying in a one bedroom concierge suite. Does anyone have any first cruise or concierge tips? We are also interested in the Fish Extenders! Has anyone done this?

I am going on this cruise also. It will be my husband, myself and my daughter with her two kids. A five year old girl that is autistic and a seven year old boy. It will be my daughter and her kids first cruise. My husband and myself started cruising in 2012, we have only cruised on Disney and love it. This cruise will be our ninth cruise.

For those posting in this Cruise Meet thread to join a FE, if no one comes forward to organize a FE for this cruise, anyone can organize the FE right in this thread and just share a pdf document through a private conversation confidentially with just those who want to join in! Cruise Meet threads are doing just fine managing meet and Fish Extender discussions right here on the DIS as they have since FE began (also here on the DIS).

FE organizers generally need to know how many people (adults/children) are participating in each cabin with child ages for age appropriate gift giving. Other information you would like to share such as names, allergies, favorite characters, etc. is completely up to you. Other personal information is not really necessary. Those organizing FEs typically ask for the information to be posted in the meet thread or sent to them via PM (conversation).

Hi All! We'll be joining you all in May This will be our 2nd Disney cruise. We sailed to Alaska on the Wonder in 2014 and LOVED it. Our party is myself, DH, DS-6 and DD-4.

1. Your family's cabin's number (s)
2. The number of adults/children participating in each cabin.
3. The age of each child.
4. The following are optional:
- names
- gender
- favorite characters
- food allergies
- celebrations

If any of our veteran cruisers have participated in FE before, how was your experience? What was your favorite gift? Any insider info or tips would be appreciated!

The fish extender deadline to sign up will be April 20th. One month in advance of our cruise to give time to prepare (that seems to be the standard). I will send a private message on April 21st with an attached pdf that will have FE group info.

Great FE information for anyone who is thinking about participating:

Outside your room onboard is a message holder, in most cases it's shaped like a fish:

Once a cruise meet thread is up an running, someone in the group will (should?) step up and say "I'll maintain the Fish Extender exchange list". That person is the center point for all those who want to participate in the exchange. The list can be as simple as DISnames/room number/number of guests or as involved as full names/room number/ages of guests/like & dislikes/allergies/favorite characters/whatever is deemed necessary to know to put together the gifts.

Then each room on the FE list (note this will not be everyone on the Cruise Meet thread for your specific cruise), makes a Fish Extender holder. This is basically an organizer-type hanging bag with separate pockets for each person in the room:

They also make up gifts (either individual gifts or room gifts - whatever is decided by your group) to be delivered during the cruise.

One note about the gifts, some groups set up specific delivery dates, and specify "each person gets a gift" or "only one gift per room" or (even) maximum/minimum price ranges for gifts. Other groups just say "whatever", so people can choose what/how many gifts to give. Some give individual gifts, others only one gift per room, while others might do one for the adults and separate gifts for kids. Or only gift the kids.

Do we want to specify all/any of the above? I'm okay with "whatever" and leaving it up to each person.

Hello, and good afternoon I would like to participate in the FE gift exchange. This is our first Disney cruise and we will be celebrating my birthday May 21, 2016.
