Marathon Weekend 2016

OK ... let's help break some of the training malaise and talk about the REAL important stuff!

1.) What are you wearing for the races?
2.) How are you celebrating over Marathon Weekend? I wanna hear about your awesome ADRs and other things!!

1.) For the marathon I am running as Mrs. Incredible, friend #1 is Tinkerbell and friend #2 will be either Merida or Ariel.
2.) The only ADRs we have so far are: Sat morning carb load at Captain's Grille and Sunday dinner at Yachtsman's Steakhouse. We aren't bringing our families on this trip, so the rest of the time will be spent doing whatever we feel like! Probably will do Epcot on Monday - I've always wanted to eat and drink my way around the world. :)

Now you're talkin! :)

As for what to wear, I'm holding off to see the weather, but I wont do any costume or anything elaborate. I did buy some running pants recently that I have been calling my "marathon pants"(who the heck has marathon pants???) but I may go with just a grey tshirt with a sparkly Mickey head on it, possibly with something that I can rip off and toss, under it if its cold to start. Or I always have a tshirt that I've worn for the W&D twice now, that says "Forget the glass slipper this princess wears running shoes".

For our celebration we don't have anything specific planned for WDW, not knowing how we will feel. I was thinking of going to Disney Springs Sunday or for less walking just visit Trader Sams for a drink or 2. I know we will be tired so I think our big celebration will be on the cruise. We have the couples massage and Palo Brunch booked...those will be my motivation when I'm ready to crash on the course. ;)

1) My initial plan was to be a "future-world" minnie mouse with a silver 1980's era Minnie shirt I got from the Disney store...but in sad news... after trialing it and washing it...it's not a very good running shirt :( It's a little on the short and boxy side and that arm holes are weirdly proportioned. It's not flattering and I'd really like something that I look good in and feels good to run in. So I now have two options. Keep the plan but ditch that particular shirt OR do something completely new. I may see if SparkleAthletic has some kind of Black Friday or Cyber Monday sale to sway my decision.
Well that stinks! Do you know someone who can sew that could maybe tailor it for you (or could you do it)? Good thing you tested it out first! I'm sure SparkleAthletic will have SOMETHING going on.

And your kiddo is adorable.

I really wanted to be Venellope Von Schweetz but the logistics didn't work out. Going the cheap and easy way and wearing my red sparkle skirt and minnie ears.

We are doing Chef Mickey's with the family so we can all get pictures with the characters wearing our medals. Husband and I are staying a few extra days at the Poly for our reward.

I usually have really good luck with disney store shirts fitting, but they must have been using some other company for these custom parks shirt things. I'm still hopeful that I can figure out something really cute anyways. I still may end up being a running Epcot ball...all silver. Maybe I can figure out a way to make a head band with that Epcot wand thing from the early 00's on it? Still time to figure it out.
And my shirt is still an ok pajama shirt so not a total loss.

In cute kid news...I picked up my daughter from daycare and she had made a "what I'm thankful for" art project and she was thankful for "Frozen, Mommy, lunch and Daddy"
That's awesome. Around my house, that would be about the right order too!

#1 Boring old running clothes for the marathon, maybe I'll convince DS10 we should dress-up for the 5k! Hadn't thought about that. He threatened to wear a princess outfit next halloween with a sign that says, "My daddy made me wear this".
#2 Yak and Yeti late lunch celebration

1. I'm considering something simple, but I'm not the most creative fella so it may involve Rit Dye and/or spray paint applied in a sloppy manner...we'll see though.

2. Friday 1/8 - The Garden Grille
Saturday - Tony's Town Square
Sunday - Nine Dragons
Monday - CRT
Tuesday - Le Cellier
Wednesday - BOG
Thursday - Ohana for breakfast

We don't have park tickets... I'll likely be hanging around the POFQ pool Saturday and Sunday afternoon. Universal Studios on Monday then home...

I'll also be taking it easy at the POFQ pool on those afternoons. May say hello in as least "weird internet friend" form as possible :)

I probably missed the conversation, but when did Active open registration for the Marathon Weekend Dooney and Bourke bags and Castaway Cay pins?
I think it was only a few days ago that keels noticed the active pre-orders but we still do not know what the bags will look like. I'm thinking about skipping it because I was hoping for a size in between the wrislet and the tote/backpack options.
Does anyone know if the bag design will be revealed while pre-order is still an option in case I end up loving it and changing my mind?

I'm seriously thinking about replicating a McFarland shirt to wear for one of the races.

LOVE that movie.

I still need to see it, I have heard good things and if it has your stamp of approval then I'm in

For those of you that want to walk around the parks with your medals. It's awesome, but hold on to them on tower of terror or they will smack you in the face.

OUCH:faint:

in that order I'm sure....

I am curious about that as well for DW....

Non Running Question:
Who is frying a Turkey for Thanksgiving or for the weekend this year? I CANT WAIT!!!

I've never seen them NOT submit a very crappy photo while pre-orders are still open. :)

1. for the 10, half and full I think I'm dressing up as Sorcerer Mickey (boyfriend is attempting to dress as a broomstick), Cinderella (sister, her first ever race, is joining me as Belle!) and Minnie. For the 5k don't think I'm going to dress up, although I might have to wear some Mickey ears just for good measure! I'm hoping for slightly cooler temps for the 10k as part of my sorcerer Mickey costume is a red rather thick dressing gown! I
2. We're eating at Boma after the 10k (never eaten here before and I'm very excited) and T-REX after the half. No plans for after the Full and unfortunately we leave the day after :( maybe thinking of hitting up Downtown Disney after the full but I'm probably going to just want to eat and sleep!

Newbie question - I would really like an 'I did it' T shirt from the expo (tempting fate I know) so am I gonna have to be there first thing on the wednesday to get it? If so is it better to drive and get there a little earlier than rely on the buses?

Well, the doctor had x-rays performed and eliminated stress fractures as my problem. He believes that I have moderate tears in the tendons on the top of my foot. He has asked that I take another 2 weeks off from running to see how it reacts. If I see no improvement, he wants me to see a podiatrist as the tear may be more severe.

So, two more weeks without running. I just might go insane. But that would leave me with enough time to get ready for the Dopey if I can immediately jump back into my training, so I'll just have to wait and see. I am prepared to defer if I have to, but I will not be canceling my WDW vacation in January.

As much as us runners hate to be out of commission, 2 weeks sounds like the best possible scenario. Here's hoping it does the trick for you! :)

@Keels what are your plans???

Agh! I was hoping that I would be inspired by everyone's outfits and it would help me make up my mind! But, alas, I'm still thinking about a combination of things:

SpectroMagic Ballet Ostrich
McFarland runner
Disney "plaid" VIP person
Minnie Mouse/Donald/Pluto (correspond VIPs with the race)
Figment
Spaceship Earth
Dole Whip

I do think I'm going to reprise my DLH Mouseketeer outfit for the full and make my family/friends wear matching shirts. Because if I'm running 26.2, they at least need to be dressed silly so I can't have a laugh!

For post-race stuff, we're kind of keeping it loose - but the biggest thing is ... I've got a private Illuminations Cruise booked!!!

Also, it looks like they have taken down the Dooney link, so maybe it was too soon. At least I can't find it anyway.

its still there under the More Magic link but you have to go all the way through like you are trying to register to see the actual options
