Here now, MDE is terrible

I'm here now with a large group, no one in my group can pull up fastpass plus. The FP kiosks are stacked up, I assume this problem is happening throughout the MK. Good thing I had put the FP's in a spreadsheet.

Try exiting the app (physically exiting so swiping up on an iphone idk what to do on an adroid) and relaunching. Are you on wifi or on your data plan? It is quiet possible with the Thanksgiving crowds already starting that the WiFi is swamped and slow. I was able to pull up FP+ to make reservations for today and to view friends fastpasses for next month but of course I'm on my companies WiFi in NYC not at the parks.

It's good you have your spreadsheet.

I've noticed that different places in the parks seem to have bad wifi reception. And I've done better with MDE on sprint's network on my android than Disney's wifi.

Thanks for the tips but I'm a pretty tech savvy guy and have tried all of that. WiFi or cellular data doesn't make any difference. If it were just my problem, I would suspect my device or account but since it's spread across multiple devices and accounts I assume it's Disney's problem. Apparently they cannot sort out the charging privileges for my magic band either. I'll be visiting city hall on my way out this afternoon. We are having a great time despite the hiccups...the crowds are getting pretty thick.

Glad you tried all those. I always mention them because not every one is tech savvy and usually when the system is down it won't work no matter where you are. I've had friends who work at the world send me a text to try MDE at my desk to see if it is a local issue (thus meaning it is most likely the influx of people all on the same cellular/Wifi signal) or if it is indeed a system wide failure.

We print out all FP+ and keep on physical paper - in the event our magic bands don't work we have proof. Same for food reservations as well.

We also stay off the Disney wifi and use our ATT internet.

Personally I just turn my WiFi off while I'm in the parks. It's so slow, and the constant connecting and reconnecting just drains my battery. I too was going to suggest what Wilkeliza said, but I see you've done that. At that point, there's not much you can do. At least you've got the spreadsheet, so that helps. Good luck with the rest and enjoy your vacation!!!

Oomiak, rumor is Skipper Canteen is in soft opening, starting today, for CM's.
Have you gone passed it?
Anything you can report?

I think it's the crowds bogging Hints down. I'm at Starbucks now and there's about a 20 minute wait for coffee!! I need a Starbucks fastpass!

I wouldn't be surprised if the mobile ordering that's available for regular Starbucks' comes to Disney at some point. I mean, there are some places like BOG where you can pre-order your food, so why not Starbucks and your drinks?

I am also here now and having no issues with MDE? I do take a screenshot every morning of our plans to save battery on my phone but I haven't had issues making dining reservations or changing FP+ - been here since Friday.

I even managed to do a bit of work this morning on the "normally painfully slow" wifi at the hotel with surprising efficiency. l

l should knock wood now shouldn't I ......

It's probably the crowds. I always print out my touring plans, and they have my FP+ and ADRs. I hate relying upon a slow network (wifi or cellular). Even in March, we had problems later in the day accessing stuff. I was very thankful for the tree that sacrificed its life for my family's enjoyment. It's funny that I am sort of old school, since I work in mobile technology. I guess I just know too much about how the sausage is made;)

I was there on NYE last year and yes, the system was also very very slow for me, but I think it's more of soooo many people all using their networks at once rather than an MDE failure. With such large crowds at times I think that's always a risk you run.

I take screenshots of my plans for each day so they are on my camera roll, and delete them as we finish the day. That way if anything goes down I don't have to worry.

Have you tried using the web browser instead of the Ap?
I always have better luck in the browser

Any tech thing is likely to have issues at one point or another. When we were in the parks in April, there was one whole day when I just couldn't get MDE to load at all, no matter what I did. When I talked to someone else about it in a line ride, I found it that it wasn't just me. Unfortunately, it happens.
