At Disney when should I plan to visit again? 2017 or later?
Later... Probably like 2020.At Disney when should I plan to visit again? 2017 or later?
That's what I was afraid of. I'd like to go again but I suppose there's no hurry. Plenty of time to plan/save!Later... Probably like 2020.
That's a good strategy, but I wouldn't get too hung up on planning around attraction openings. They're subject to random changes related to construction or finances. I know we all want to see the latest thing, but attractions like SW Land will be there a year after they open or two decades after they open. Keep in mind that new attractions will be opening constantly throughout the next couple years, so whenever you decide to go you'll have a fresh vacation experience! That's what I was afraid of. Avatar is not this summer. If anything new I've heard possible soft open December 2016. Toy story late 2017 early 2018. Star Wars 2019-2020.Well, Avatar is this summer. I think some of the Toy Story stuff is slated to open a little earlier than the rest of DHS. So maybe sometime in 2018? but I don't think the Star Wars stuff will be ready (but they do have the Launch Bay, Star Tours, and JTA will be running, just not the new ride/s)

You are right. I was thinking of the night time stuff at AK. My badAvatar is not this summer. If anything new I've heard possible soft open December 2016. Toy story late 2017 early 2018. Star Wars 2019-2020.
You summed it all up very well. For many of my co-workers that treat me as the local Disney subject matter expert, I have been telling people to wait until Spring/Summer of 2017. The reason being that at least by then, Disney Springs will have been completed, all of what we currently know for DAK (including Pandora) should be finished, and the new (and upgraded) Soarin' film and Frozen ride in Epcot will be finished. What follows is a list of things (to my knowledge) that are opening and roughly when:
Just for reference purposes, I get most of my information from wdwmagic. They have a number of forum members there that either know people that work for Disney or work for Disney themselves.
- 2015 - hub completion and Skipper's Cantina in MK
- 2016 - DAK Rivers of Light nighttime show in Spring, nighttime safaris (I heard Fall but now some are speculating that it might be earlier)
- 2016 - There has also been mention of other new entertainment occurring in front of the Tree of Life on Discovery Island which might be happening in 2016, along with potentially the new TS restaurant in back of Pizzafari, as well as new shopping and a new QS in Asia
- 2016 - Summer should be the completion of the transformation of DTD into Disney Springs, with tons of new restaurants and shopping
- 2017 - Spring should be the debut of the Pandora expansion in DAK
- 2018 - Toy Story Land in DHS
- 2019 - late in the year for Star Wars Land
Also, keep in mind that there is supposed to be at least a Phase 3 addition for DHS that could either be a land based on Cars, Monstropolis, or the Incredibles that would debut 2020. Additionally, aside from the $2.8 billion allocated for the total redo of DHS, and additional ~$350 million was approved for additions to MK and EPCOT (and that is $350 million for each park), as well as the rumored Frontier Land expansion. There is still so much that might still be happening prior to WDW's 50th anniversary that i do have a hard time telling people when they should book their next vacation. I typically say summer of 2017 though, as that is when at least DAK and DS should both be finished.

Frontier Land Expansion? I have not heard of that at all. What's that rumored to be?
Should be except for maybe one or two buildings. Will Disney Springs be complete by December 2016?
Just book it for 2017, if you wait till Star wars is ready there will then be something else in Construction that you don't want to miss and you will be putting it off forever. Just book it, enjoy yourself and re book again when you can afford it.

Late 2017 to early 2018 is what I've been hearing for toy story. They don't necessarily line up movies with attraction openings. Parking garage one is supposed to open around here as well.I suspect the toy story stuff will be in 2018 to line up with the movie debut since they moved it from 2017 to 2018..
star wars is a little tricky, there is some infrastructure work but a lot of it seems like a new entrance road and parking lot with some prep for more acreage where the existing entrance road is. However, there is still enough room for the announced in that corner to not need it for current plans. I can't see them launching star wars without additional parking first. I would assume they want to keep spacing launches so 2019 if a miracle happens but more likely 2020 or 2021 for the 50th anniversary. 1 big new thing per year in other words which has me leaning on 2020 since 50th will be that big thing in 2021.
