Adios Captain EO

Boooooo!

If anyone can name ANYTHING George Lucas has created that is better than Captain EO, I would have to strongly disagree with them.

a very poor attempt at trolling.

I hope they look to UP for something to occupy the place.

I'm also hoping they already have some kind of plan for replacement already. I would rather have EO continue than have Epcot continue on towards ghost town status

Good luck with that one. EPCOT is all about closures now.

I have this dream where they move the Muppets here and then they Muppet the God awful ride, something similar but better. Instead of giving the audience a tour we go with Kermit and Bunsen and Beeker as they tour there new labs. A little less figment but better figment. Make him like a silly phantom of the opera, the last experiment of a previous director who won't leave. Of course by the end of the ride they are friends. Oh one last thing in my dream Rick Moranis comes out of retirement to do the audio and is the animatronic human host showing us around.
A girl can dream...

If we want to keep George Lucas as the theme for that theater, lets make a Willow attraction...... No chance that will ever happen but hey we can talk about it,

Agreed. Epcot is progressing towards being one oversized drinking establishment. I can't help but notice how few gift shops and eateries (i.e. places to spend money) there are in Future World. Close things down there and drive guests to World Showcase where the profit can be made.

I really hate being that, "i like it because i liked it as a kid" guy here, but I'm ok with that only if Figment keeps his place at WDW somehow. I don't know why, but as a child I loved figment, however I hate when people don't like change at WDW. Things need to get better, and getting better sometimes means making changes.

Just don't get rid of figment all together, he holds a special place in my heart for some reason.

Figment is a staple at Epcot. His new comic series with dream finder is incredibly popular and he is one of the mascots for food and wine.

It's about time. I'm surprised it even lasted that long. I hope it's that one Inside Out rumor that was very briefly mentioned back in June. I think it would work great with the pavilion, along with a new main ride.

Captain EO came back because of MJs death. They really haven't had anything to replace it with so that is why it has stayed. Imagineers have had plenty of plans for the theater but the higher ups don't want to pay for it. As for the ride I think figment is safe to stay even if the ride changes. Figment is very popular and that was shown with the new marvel comic with him and dream finder that debuted last year.

New poster here. I've had 4 visits from the UK to DW, and I've loved it every time. I've recently been in October, and I've booked again for next year (Disney Fever has hit me harder this time).

My partner has never been, and we have both never seen Captain EO (at least I don't think I have, unless I did 20+ years back) and we actually loved it! Impressive for its age.

I was hoping for something more than Pixar shorts, but maybe this is just a placeholder.

Clearly the change is coming. Pixar is about the best placeholder we could hope for.

I believe it will close but apparently CMs put up the sign before Disney was ready for them too.

Sure seems that way, but given how engaged park fans are, the more notice the better for these sorts of things. Every attraction has a devoted fan who will want to visit their favorite attraction for "the last time". Mind you I've checked out EO "for the last time" for the past couple of years. This time it will be true.

I would revolt if Figment were to depart Epcot. Both he and Stitch are amazing characters with unfortunate attractions. I'd love to see a reboot with a Figment film and a reboot of the original attraction.. enhanced for modern sensibilities.
