Out with the Pork Shank, in with the Beef Stew...

As anticipated with loss of the Pork Shank ............ a new menu item for Gaston's Tavern.

Now serving Tavern Beef Stew! Hoping it comes with some french bread.

That's disappointing. Soup doesn't scream manly hunter like a big slab of meat on a bone.

Pork shank was good, but I was definitely the only person in my family who would order it. All four of us would partake in some hot beef stew...assuming it is a nice, cool day in the middle of Florida...because that happens a lot, right?

Well, from what I recall, they sell a boatload of that cheese soup over in Canada in the same weather.

Maybe it is a regional thing, but I don't consider beef stew to be a soup by any means. It is a stew and much thicker and heartier than a soup.
But still a very valid question about how many people would want it during the heat of summer.

Could truly go for a big bowl of stew nearly any of our winter trips! Anxious to try this. Live in a house with 5 men, and there is little they like more than a hearty beef stew!

You know, on the surface I'm not opposed to this. When I think of Tavern food a good hearty beef stew does come to mind. It could be a nice option.

Stew isn't soup.

Stew should have lots of big chunks of meat and vegetables, very manly and chunky.

If they are trying to maintain French style it should come with crusty French bread. British style would be with potatoes in the stew and soft bread on the side. Stew should never ever come with rice.

You obviously ain't from the south boy. Beef stew includes potatoes and is served over rice. We like our starches down here in these parts.
