Wine and Dine 2015

Almost ruined this for myself last night. Was at the Mets game and didn't want to disturb those around me so I tried to jump the railing behind me to go get some food. I completely forgot it was soaking wet from where they washed all the beer off from the previous nights game and I felt my feet come out from under me and one knee twist as I landed on my butt. Thankfully nothing is wrong but when I felt my knee twist I thought for sure I messed it all up. No more gymnastic moves before the race.

Yikes!! Glad you're OK!

And sorry about the 12th inning.

So @ZellyB they don't give him hassle because the name on the ID and the name on the Bib don't match? That's all I cared about. Now I fear that by trying to be proactive I just opened a can of worms :guilty:

Ugh it was awful. I'm not the most diehard Mets fan but my fiance is. Seeing his face when they tied the game broke my heart. Poor guy just doesn't know how to handle a winning Mets team that turns around and looses like that.

They never have. We've done 3 different marathon weekends and it's never been an issue. I think they mostly check last name and DOB. I don't think they've ever even asked.

Yeah, Terry Collins really out-thought himself last night. But there are lots of positives going into next year for the Mets! They proved to be best of a VERY competitive division this year.

The only thing worse than not making the playoffs is making it to the World Series and losing - this from a Braves fan.

So this morning I had to call RD. I realized that I registered for the half (and Princess/Tink) in my nickname, but obviously my ID will be full first name. All other info is the same (ie DOB, last name, etc) so I called RD to let them know and see what they say. Certainly I can't be the only person who has done this? I mean there's probably a lot of John's running as Jack, Robert's running as Bob, etc. The lady did not seem to know what to do and her answer was to take down my info and get someone to call back. She kept saying she'd need to change my registration. I tried to impress on her that if we change a name at this point- it might screw up matching up my PoT for the other races but I don't think she understood.

Couldn't they just make a notation that says something like "ID in full name of X" and be done with it?

Should I be worried? Should I call back? This was about 1.5 hours ago and still nothing....

You should be fine. I would print out your confirmations (if you have the one that shows the name on the credit card you used) just to be safe.

I found that the volunteers at package pickup are very helpful and understanding when it comes to things like this!

So would it be worth it to get one of those frogg neck scarves to wear during the race? Has anyone ever used them while running? At what point should I start believing the forecast? :scared1:

I just wish it was 11 pm on Saturday already. This waiting is killer!
I need a little smiley that is pulling it's hair out and zooming around frantically as it does so. lol

I poked the bear in the eye a little tonight. I ran four miles at what I think my half marathon pace should feel like. It was 75 degrees at the start and 73 at the finish with humidity around 70 percent. I think I'll have to run 15 to 30 seconds slower per mile than my goal pace, if this is what we see at race time. :charac2:
FWIW I run easily 1:30-2:00/mile slower in summer down here - same effort level, slower pace.

If there's anybody who lives in or is down in Florida right now (maybe @Keels), can you tell me what the evenings/nights have felt like the past couple days? Looking at the forecast, it's beginning to look like it's most likely going to be above average temperatures next week/weekend. I know things can still change (which is why I'm focusing on temperatures - not paying attention to rain chances yet), but I'm a little concerned about how this will make it feel for race night. How bad has the heat/humidity been once the sun's gone down?
I live 90 miles away and spent this past weekend at WDW for MNSSHP... it was rough, I'm not gonna lie. Now keep in mind that I've been putting up with this infernal heat since March, so I'm am so OVER IT - that may color my perception a bit, lol! Days were scorching: we set or matched record highs Sat. and Sun. It cooled down some in the evening, but the humidity was pretty high; I was still sweltering at 12am, leaving MNSSHP. What I'm seeing for next weekend looks to be more of the same: does't look like a cold front is coming any time soon.

Has anyone here done the Pre-Race Taste party in the past? We have tickets, and I saw it was a cash bar, but I'm wondering if they include non-alcoholic drinks. For the price, I hope so... ;)

At the risk of rotten vegetables being thrown at me, I believe I would prefer the rain. I live in a humid environment, albeit not Florida humid, and the rain beats high heat and humidity, hands down.

as a heavy salt sweater (IE when I sweat, I shed a lot of salt in it, and I am a heavy sweater anyway) this does not bode well for me.....

Guess I won't be doing this with PR in mind.

I was going to skip carrying my handheld water bottle with Nuun in it in favor of a phone holder that I bought that was linked earlier in the thread, but maybe I'll need to re-think that. :( I am also a super heavy, salty sweater.

^^^^^THIS^^^^^

only my handheld will have endurolytes fizz by hammer nutrition. Will be sucking down perpetuem water mix in one bottle, a hand held fizz mix, and then a gel bean bottle with doses of hammer gel. Will also be taking tissue rejuvenator for sure.

I have a handheld water bottle by Nathans that also has a phone holder in it. Not sure if you want to spend the extra money but I'm thinking of bringing it this time.

I keep printing slower pace bands and adding songs to the playlist. I could easily be two corrals back and fit right in. The effort will still feel horrible. We had that cool spell and got spoiled...

I get to 2:00 slower per mile using following page (if not by feel):

I have a handheld bottle (won't need it to hold anything but liquid) but wasn't going to bring it. Was just agreeing with @Miranda in the sense that based on the weather- I may need to go ahead and bring it. I run in Athleta (and based on the weather, probably won't run in them cause they're thicker) now that's it's cooler but 99% of the time a sparkle skirt. The 6s Plus fits in a pocket- so I don't need the bottle for that part. Just for the electrolyte replenisher aspect.
