Disney's BOARDWALK INN Information & Questions

That is very cool, (did you plan that?). A very (belated) :bday::cake: to Little Brian, too!!:bday::cake:
I wish I could take the credit, BUT little Brian had his own plan ;) He was supposed to be a Halloween baby. He tried to arrive for my birthday, then again for Maddie's birthday...I guess he finally decided he wanted his own birthday month :)

Tomorrow is our 60 day mark, and of course last night I realized I've be planning my F&W trip I have no plans for December...so that is what I am doing today. Since I am working tonight, I will be awake to do our FP nice and early!!

I will admit I am slightly nervous to bring the kids with just my DMIL. She is a great Grandma and all, but sometimes little man can be a handful. He is thrilled to be going to the BWI so this is a good thing. And DMIL can take the little daredevil...AKA Bree on Aerosmith and ToT!

In other news, I came VERY close to switching DH and I to a garden cottage with the AP rate....BUT I need to stay at GF, I do :)

Hope everyone there enjoys the BW!!!!!!!! And WDW!

Has anyone ever done the special activities at BW on Halloween? Are they geared towards younger children? I'll be there for a quick getaway with DS15 - I'm thinking he will think they're too childish. Ok, actually, its ME that wants to go to them...:)

You know, seeing it's Disney I just don't think there is a such thing as too young to do it. If he, and you, want to go, I would go. It's going to be fun. Even if it's just from watching the joy on the little ones faces.

Thanks!

My husband and college age daughter did the leadership class which was held at CSR in March. She is a business major and these classes seem like a nice addition to her resume.

When they looked to do another class we found this Service class at bwi. My Dh offered for me to go this time and to have to stay at the bwi (I have always wanted to) was icing on the cake!

I also booked the Merry and Bright Dessert Party for the night after our class!

Sounds like lots of fun packed into a a quick trip!! Enjoy..Looking forward to hearing all about the M&B Dessert Party! You know its all about the food...lol...especially the dessert! :goodvibes ::yes::

:dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3:

WE'RE DOING THE SINGLE DIGIT DANCE TODAY!! We arrive in ****** 9 ****** days for our 41st Anniversary Celebration at BWI Club Level - our first time at BWI and first CL stay!

We can't wait!!!!
:dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3:

Woohoo!! Dancin with you!! :dance3:

No, it's on the Inn side too based on photos I've seen. Here's a link to a photo of the construction: http://disboards.com/threads/disney...ormation-and-questions-thread.3344344/page-90
And there's a refurbishment notice now for the Boardwalk on Disney's site. I noticed that it was just added a couple of weeks ago.

It says "In an ongoing effort to improve the quality of our facilities and offerings, some of our Resort locations are currently being refreshed. To avoid damage to personal items due to painting or exterior construction, we suggest that you bring all personal belongings from your patio or balcony inside during the work hours of 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Please pardon our pixie dust while we make more magic!"

Thanks for that info and the link...:thumbsup2

We had a lobster roll at Ale & Compass. I thought I took a picture of it, but I must have deleted it. Or, I drank too much and had an OE - operator error. The horror.

:drinking1:laughing:

Guests have already announced this here (thank you!), but here is the announcement today from the DIS HERE, (I corrected their typo;)):

Disney World Bus Schedules

Changes to bus stops:
- Caribbean Beach - Transportation to Epcot and Hollywood Studios will be split into two sides at the resort. In the afternoon, the pickups will be combined.
- Boardwalk, Swan and Dolphin - The Boardwalk will now have its own bus and the Swan/Dolphin will continue to share.
- All-Star Resorts - Each resort will have its own bus going to Disney's Hollywood Studios.
- Winter Summerland Golf - Guests will need to take a bus to Epcot, then transfer to a Coronado Springs bus, which will stop at Blizzard Beach.

Thanks Kook ..Thanks fr the up to the minute info..as always! :goodvibes

Pas My reort changing friend... Glad that you decided to keep that GF ressie for you and your DH....:goodvibes ok back on topic...I know that this is not the GF thread... ..Hope that you got all of your FPP made...and got just what you and the pas clan wanted....As for being at the BWI with just you and your MIL and the kids...the BWI complex itself is more compact that it seems ..the whole themed pool area along with the game room are very closed in....and there are nice niches for sitting and relaxing and easy to keep an eye on the kids from...:thumbsup2

Just got back from a great 1st trip to the BWI CL. We really loved the location, 5min walk to EPCOT and 12min walk to DHS. CL staff was fantastic, very helpful and friendly. Our room was spotless and had no issues with housekeeping.

We will be back to BWI for sure.

Another member was asking and I'd like to know too- was there bottled water that you could ask for?

Thought I would share a few photos of our brand spanking new, never been slept in room--we were the first to occupy 2063 (Villas) after its rehab:

We loved the location--steps to the lobby and elevator--although the balcony was less than private, we enjoyed it.

A few glitches along the way--lifeguard training in the quiet BWI pool on two separate afternoons--couldn't enjoy the quiet of the pool nor get into it due to the training. Not sure why Disney doesn't have its own training pool for the lifeguards--makes no sense to tie up a guest pool for lovely afternoons. The community pool was available although due to construction on the 4th floor of the two surrounding wings--it was very noisy. Not a relaxing space.

We had a fantastic stay until check-out day. We had express check-out and despite providing our card upon arrival and having it linked to MDE online, Disney was unable to process the payment (which, BTW, was NOT over the charging limit). My husband went to the desk and it was determined the expiration date on the card was incorrect. We pointed this out at arrival because we were issued new cards this summer (chipped cards vs the old swipe design). I had changed it online but for some reason it kept reverting. The concierge assured me that the date was correct yet somehow by check-out day the new expiration had reverted. No problems, or so we thought, it was processed and went through without an issue. So, off we went to EPCOT only to have our MBs declined for payment due to being over our credit limit--embarassing :headache:. Three calls later to BW we were finally informed they had closed our account at check-out and we would have to use our credit card to pay for the balance of our day. Thank goodness we are AP holders or our MBs might not have worked to admit us. While it was a minor issue--the first two calls made assured us that the account had been reset and we were fine. It was only on the third call that we got the correct answer. That is Disney communication for ya'! :confused3

Looking forward to our return in May--although this time we will be at BC. We will return to BW in the future though--love this place.

Anyone know if there's a pullout bed in every BW room? When I called, they couldn't say for sure if there would be one in our room...

We stayed at BWV 2 years ago on Halloween and we loved the events they had in the courtyard. 8-10 tables with games for the kids to play and candy to get. It was a fun 90 minutes or so. We will not be there on Halloween this year, leaving tomorrow for 9 days. We did MNSSHP 2 years ago and enjoyed it but are not this time. Would definitely spend party of Halloween day at the BW party.

I had lots of help holding strong with BWI ;) Thank you for that. My kids are super excited. I was able to get all checked in and get my FP literally at midnight :) It helps sometimes to be a night shift vampire! This morning my kids asked if we can go eat at Cape May so that's a possibility I will look into today.

Online check-in I requested close to elevator, which my DS7 would be very happy with.

Choices given:
  • Second floor
  • Fifth floor (the imaginary 5th floor I guess)
  • Highest floor
  • Near Lobby
  • Near elevator
  • Fourth floor
  • Ground floor
  • Upper floor
  • Lower floor
  • Boardwalk view
I wanted to show the choices for those considering online check-in

I loved the pictures. Thanks for sharing. We have never stayed there and plan on doing so next year. It's nice to see what the rooms will look like. I was wondering if your room had a murphy bed? It looks like one under the tv, but I haven't heard of them there so didn't know for sure.
