Any new details on this restaurant being opened in Adventureland? Was curious as to an estimated opening date...planning for next year and was wondering if it would be an option!

I'm bumping this thread. We're going in mid-January, and I've heard it will be open. Any news on the menu and when reservations might be possible?

I think it's going to be skipper canteen, there are some other threads in here about it, but as of right now, no word on the menu or opening date.

Disney made the official announcement on the Disney Parks Blog on August 14, but there's been no official news since then that I'm aware of.

I fully expect it to be open (at least a soft opening) by New Years. No way is Disney not going to aim for filling it up on their busiest attendance day.

Last I heard there is hope for it to be open by the heart of the holiday season (late Nov/Early Dec). That isn't to far away, so hopefully that is the goal.

Don't skip out on BOG, unless you have been before and just want to try something new. If it opens in time do both!

According to the official announcement on August 14, 2015, "The Jungle Skipper Canteen is currently under construction and will open its doors in late 2015."

It would seem like good business to be open for the holiday crowds of the latter half of December. And it would seem like good operational practice to be open a few weeks before the big crowds arrive, to get everything running smoothly.

WDW is good at project management. (Sometimes things at WDW take a long time, but the long project calendar is planned that way.) Even the best project plan can have unexpected delays, but building out a restaurant is not rocket science. It's not like an attraction with unproven, cutting edge technology. A good project plan for a restaurant should not slip.

My guess is that the target opening is around December 1.

I could be wrong.

I know someone who interviewed this week for full time server. Hope he gets it he would be great here. So does this mean they are getting close to opening if they are interviewing for servers?

It would sure seem like it! Not at Disney but around here, when you see ads for servers, the restaurant usually opens within a few weeks. I'm sure they need time for training wait staff, especially if there's going to be any "schtick" they have to learn. But you wouldn't hire staff months in advance & keep them on hold, right? Here's hoping!!

I keep checking to see if it's even listed on MDE. I can't make my ADRs until next month but I already know this will be the hardest one to grab for my family. My DH thinks I'm absolutely nuts about securing an ADR for a restaurant that doesn't even have a menu yet!
