They have done it again. Not as great but still good. 150 points for $150 gift card. Good luck to all and remember not all tellers let you pay GC for GC, but some do.

I've been waiting for this to come around again. I'm going to ask about this tomorrow. Is there anything specific written that says you CAN'T pay for a GC with a GC in the Sobeys flyer? I haven't had a chance to look at the flyer as yet.

There is nothing specific written, but as some of us have experienced individual stores have said no. Sometimes you have to check with each store. The other work around that I found is that you buy the GC, turn around and buy a prepaid Mastercard, then use that to buy a GC. Yes you get hit with a $6 fee for the MC but it is worth it as the reward is bigger then the $6.

Our Thrfity's is a subsidiary of Sobeys and is running a 200AM for $200 on their gift cards - today, tomorrow and Sunday. Guess when I bought mine? Yes, that's right. YESTERDAY!! I'm hoping they'll be forgiving and credit me even though I screwed up. It was my last $200 too, so I can't even reload it. I can't believe how stupid that was.

Try the system of buying a gift card with a gift card. |THere is no small print saying you cant. Thats is what we have been able to do, over and over and over. So much that last time I had 4000 points off the one card. If they dont the other way that even the sobeys that wouldnt let me do the first way let me do this way. With your GC buy a prepaid visa/mastercard. There will be a $6 fee with that but its worth it. Then you turn around and buy a GC with the prepaid visa. And so on. This works as well and when you think about it 200 points is equal to just over $20. So to spend 6 to get 20 i think is a good deal.
Good luck, Its a loophole they havent closed.

Somehow I ended up with a wicked cold in Oct. and should be staying under the covers but I really want to give this a try. Yes it's brrr cold out there, stay warm.

So I go in and buy a Sobeys Gift card for 150.00 dollars ,for this I get 150 airmiles, then using the Sobeys gift card I buy a 150.00 Visa card + a (6 dollar activation fee), for this I get 150 airmiles. So for this transaction I would have 300 airmiles and I'd have a 150.00 Visa plus the 6 dollar activation fee.?

Now if I went to the next cashier and used the 150.00 dollar Visa gift card and buy a 150.00 dollar Sobeys card I'd get another 150.00 airmiles?
Anyone sure they are not going to throw me out of the store?
How many transactions have you done with just one cashier?

Yes you have that correct. I was lucky enough last time to be able to do it GC to GC.....I did 6 transactions at the same cashier each time. Last night I was planning to do 8.
They won't throw you out of the store...you can walk out with your head down

As Dancin has said, no harm trying, the most I have done for GC for GC at once is 12..hehe.. I will be trying this afternoon on way to work at the location that I first encountered this. Crossing fingers same girl that told me about it and has let me do it every time is there. Keep you posted. If it works I am doing it 20 times, increase in points needed for airmiles now.
