Pecos Bill menu change

I read Skipper's Canteen is going to be Asian, South American and African cuisine. Don't know if that's true but I wouldn't be surprised.

My kids and I are really excited about this change since we love Chipotle :cloud9:....DH, however, not so much. He already said that if we want to try it out on our upcoming trip, he will head over to CHH instead.

Disney CS burgers are just not good so I don't mind them changing to a Chipotle style menu as long as they do a good job with it.

I think nay. I am all for authentic Mexican, but Disney Mexican is not great. Those burgers were good! And PB was always relatively crowd less for us, so we chose it over CR.

Agreed--Disney Mexican (at least QS Mexican) is kind of like Disney pizza (i.e., meh). And Qdoba and Chipotle-style Disney Mexican would be meh upon meh.

I go to Pecos Bills for the burger w/ fixins bar (emphasis on fixins bar--the burger is just a delivery vehicle for said fixins). Yeah, we can go to Cosmic Ray's, but (a) their ordering process is messed up, (b) I hate that loud, obnoxious animatronic show in the dining room.

Oh, well. Guess we'll eat more often at CHH or BOG.

I could be wrong but I'm thinking all of the burgers at the counter service locations are the same.
That's sure been our experience. The product they call a burger is more like a overcooked flavorless hockey puck be it bought at Pecos Bills, Cosmic Rays, ABC Commissary or Rosie's at HS. They are all awful.
I hope they can pull off something new at Pecos Bills. Anything but more burgers.

Those menu changes sound good, if that's what happens. If they're only closed for a few days, I doubt you'll see the customization options that you'd see at a Chipotle. That would need a massive change in the way they operate. I also wonder if this means the end of Tortuga Tavern as we know it...

Someone posted on another thread about the menu change at Pecos Bills that Tortuga Tavern is going to be barbecue.
Though seeing how it's open like an hour a day for 2 months of the year does it really matter if they are the same? If they do anything I hope they keep the darn place open. What they do now makes just no sense.

Looking forward to this as long as they keep that fixins bar! I do miss the chilli tortilla bowl though.

I am actually kinda happy about this. Tortuga was actually open on our last visit, which shocked me. We went in just to look at the menu, because it has never been open before, but we had already eaten lunch. I liked the menu, and was wishing we had known it had been open because I wanted to try the bowl.

This is my thought as well. I can't see them going to that level of customization. It's possible they leave the fixing bar setup to customize it yourself but I doubt they'd go that way simply due to cost.

Well, I don't care for Chipotle/Qdoba much so I am not excited for the change. However, I'll be there in 9 days so I can check out the new menu.

Are they running the new menu now or is this an upcoming change? I would be up for a Mexican CS in Magic Kingdom, mainly because I love Mexican and am not a big fan of burgers or Chicken sandwiches. Plus, for some reason I remember Pecos Bill having more of a Mexican flair as a child, and I was sad to see when it was just burgers recently. Though I could be remembering incorrectly as this was 15-20 years ago.

I was there on Sept. 25 durng the MNSSHP and got a burger and can honestly say it was one of the worst burgers I have ever had. The bun was cold and stale and the patty was cold dry and tasteless. I've eaten there before many years ago and didn't remember it being quite so bad. I really wish Disney could add some decent quick service meals to MK, there is not much there that is desireable IMHO.

Pretty sure the switch has happened

We went a couple of years ago and we loved the Taco Salad with the fixins bar. It was tasty and not a bad bargin, which is one sure fire way to get Disney to eliminate it. We now now know that the Taco Salad is gone, and I suspect so is the fixins bar. I can get Chipotle down the street here in So. Cal, and I'm not really a fan of their food to begin with, so I think I can safely say that Pecos Bills is out for us. If we want disappointing park food, we'll head over to Cosmic Ray's. At least there I've never seen the floor show.
On a seperarte note, the disappearing fixins bar doesn't seem to be limited just to MK. Out here at Disneyland, the Riverbelle Terrace recently changed their menu and 86'd the fixins bar there as well.

I'm excited for the variety! Throw in some quesadillas and nachos and then it'd be an awesome menu.

Also, count me in as someone who has yet to see TT open!

I will be there the end of October and I was so looking forward to the pulled pork sandwich--now I am not. Yes I am sad. I guess I'll get over it and eat someplace else.
