Official Avengers Half Marathon Weekend 2015 Thread

I don't think RunDisney is using anything with Iron Man because of the conflict with Iron Man races. Still seems silly to me, but last year even the announcers wouldn't say it. It because funny listening to them trying to say Iron Man without saying Iron Man.

RDJ also had a clause put into his contract that anything related to Iron Man (name, resemblance, etc) he must be compensated for.

I'I'm on the fence about the bag. I bought all three styles last year and use the satchel everyday. I prefer backpack style bags and am thrilled that there's an Avengers pattern. But I hate the giant tassels on Dooney backpacks, which is why I still haven't bought one. Oh well. I just plunked down the money on the Dark side challenge so I'll have until next payday to decide if I'm going to preorder or not.

For the Dooneys, does anyone know if you can pay for them with a Disney gift card at the Expo? I would think you could but want to make sure before I decide not to pre-order.

I would think they would accept it if it's bought at the official runDisney store.

How's everyone feeling about Seasons of the Force starting the day after the half marathon?

How's everyone feeling about Seasons of the Force starting the day after the half marathon?

First I was a little depressed that it didn't start earlier because it would be fun to experience "HyperSpace Mountain"... But I was also worried how busy the park would be with all the AP's in the park trying to see the new stuff. So I'm feeling a little mixed. They could possibly have "soft openings" a few days before things officially open, that could be fun.

I also hope they open up the "Super Hero's Headquarters" (on the top floor of the "Tomorrowland Expo") for the Avengers weekend. That is where the Marvel character meet and greet will be... Seems to make sense to open it up for the weekend.

And this next part I'm sharing only because I think this group can appreciate it, and it goes with the thread theme. This weekend I got to go to Salt Lake Comic Con and get pictures with a few stars. Chris Evans (Captain America) Sebastian Stan (Winter Solider) Anthony Mackie (Falcon) Hayley Atwell (Agent Carter)

Seeing them in person got me even more excited for all the Super Hero fun coming in less then 50 days!

First, awesome pics! I'm so jealous that you got your picture taken with each of them.

Second, is there any speculation/news about what Super Hero HQ will have? Like you, I'm hopeful that they'll do something for race weekend.

The only "official" info I've seen about it was when the OP replied to a comment about seasons of the force. "Chrissy – Super Hero HQ will be located in the Tomorrowland Expo Center, upstairs from Star Wars Launch Bay. We’ll have more information on that location soon."
On both Touringplans and WDWinfo they have the reopening date for Innoventions for Oct. 1 so who knows about that.
I had a very chatty concierge CM when I stayed at Grand Californian last time I was there. He said that when it reopens Hawkeye and Black Widow will also be doing meet and greets. Of course, take all that info with a grain of salt. We all know how reliable CM "insider" info usually is.

I wish they had announced it earlier! I totally would have added a day to my trip to be able to see all the Star Wars new stuff. I guess the best I can do is cross my fingers for soft openings and just be glad I'm going to Disneyland at all!
Those pictures are so amazing! How lucky for you!

I've been struggling with training lately, just can't find my motivation. I wish they would release the course and Challenge Medal...that would definitely get me through the last few weeks!

Some things going well in my training - I can now run two days in a row thanks to Infinity Gauntlet training.

Some not so good things - I am often not getting two runs in during the weekdays due to running Saturday and Sunday. I manage Monday night SPIN and one run most weeks. It is a combination of dark in the morning, dark at night, errands, & work schedule messing up my training plan. I work early and long most Tuesdays and Thursdays. I am very nervous to run on a Monday or Friday when I know I am putting in increasing mileage on Saturday and Sunday.

On 9/19 we did 12 miles. The last two miles were sheer misery of walking as my bowels were on a separate run of their own that day. This past weekend I ran a rolling hill 5K on Saturday and Sunday. I sort of created my own taper in prep for my first half on 10/4. This morning I managed a 2.25 mile quick out and back before work. I plan to run that short distance again Friday.

My second half is 10/11. My third half is 11/1. So I'll be ready for Infinity Gauntlet. I won't be fast. But I will know I can go the distance.

My Infinity Gauntlet training is basically rolled up into my training for an Oct 17 marathon, but the past couple long runs have been a slog, cutting a 15 mile run short at 10.81 and finishing a 20 mile run but 27 seconds per mile over pace. I'm in the taper now, so hoping for the best there -- and following the marathon will basically just be like maintenance leading into the challenge.

Running with Katie to help her get ready, she was doing very well with increasing her running intervals and improving her pace, but unfortunately we had to miss this past week's 10 mile run and yesterday's run due to some fluid in her middle ear giving her vertigo. Hoping to get things back on track a bit tomorrow and maybe extend her 10k long run this week to 8 to split the difference for the missed mileage last week.

We're getting to Disneyland on Wednesday before the races, so running issues aside, it's nice to know that we'll be in the parks six weeks from now! :)

Is there anyone from the Nor Cal area on this thread? I'd love to meet my fellow Bay Area Avengers!

Given your schedule, have you thought about running on Friday, Saturday, Monday and Wedensday?
