Has this ever happened to you?

My sister told me that the other day her DH was replying to a text she sent him but before his reply got to her a horrible link to a teenage porn site was sent to her! Her DH told her he has NO clue how that was sent to her before his actual text reply. They've been texting for several years and have never had this happen. Does her phone or her husband's have a virus??

Could be a virus. Could just be he messed up. Not sure what she should do at this point though. The problem with some of these sites is that they are aren't REALLY teens, so not REALLY child porn. They are are young looking adults made to look like teens for the videos or pictures or whatever. (got this info from a cop when I was ranting about why these sites can't be shut down)

Did it come in the middle of his conversation from his number or just happen to come up in a new conversation while she was waiting for his message. If it's from his number, I'd be pretty surprised if it's a virus, but I guess it COULD be?

I've never had to deal with a virus on a phone but they usually come from the browser not SMS. If it came from his number I personally would find that very iffy. If it came from another number in the middle of the exchange as the PP suggested it could just be nasty spam. (Though I've never experienced that either)

What kind of phones do they have? Are they using their phone service for texting or are they using a web based app for texting? If the latter, I can maybe see it being a virus.

Hmmm. iPhones are pretty virus resistant and how a virus could get into the SMS, doesn't seem plausible. Not that is couldn't happen, I've just never heard of it happening.

I would have someone examine the phone. Not sure who, but I'd probably start at the Apple Store.

If the husband has nothing to hide, I'm sure he'd want to get to the bottom of this quickly.
