Has this ever happened to you?

The most logical answer is that he was either sending it to someone else and accidently sent it to her, or was on the site and unintentually hit the share button. A virus that sends links thru text message on an iPhone doesn't really track. I've never ever heard of something like that happening. And I've had iPhones since the 3's.

could just be a glitch, all of our phones do weird things now and then, if I was her I wouldnt make a big deal of it, unless something weird happens again

I had a strange text on my IPhone from the same number my cell provider uses telling me if I didn't western union them money my service would be disconnected. I assumed it was a scam and thus far my phone still works. I'd probably do like the PP said and assume it's a glitch or something.

My DH has an iPhone and he has never mentioned any popups happening. Apple products are usually really good for that not happening.

My iPhone has done a weird thing a couple of times last week. A couple of times, I plugged in my charger and laid the phone on my night stand. Then I heard a soft voice. The phone had dialed my daughter's number. No, it wasn't Siri because she is annoying and I turned her off. Another night, the phone dialed a doctor's office. Cuckoo
So I won't say that what the OP is posting about is impossible.

I actually had that happen where all of a sudden my phone started dialing people out of nowhere. A hard reboot fixed the issue so you might want to try that.

That's a far cry from a link to a porn site popping up from the DH's number in a text message though. 1+1 isn't equaling two here. Logically one of two scenarios is happening here: The DH was sending to someone else and accidentally sent it to the wife (or accidentally hit the share button as suggested above) and thought the wife wasn't tech savvy enough to figure out that chances of it being a virus were slim to none. OR it was sent from a random number as spam and because it happened while texting with DH she thought it came from his number. (though when I get another incoming text, I'll get a ding and a label but it won't pop up until I go there.) I'd would double check this before condemning the guy but honestly, it's not looking good for him here. The first case is the most common, I think most of here have accidentally sent a text meant for someone else to the last person we texted.

Could be someone was looking at child pornography and accidentally sent a link. (But then...I never heard of a pastor looking at child porn. Oh wait...) And who decides if it's not REALLY teens, and therefore not REALLY child porn? The pastor? The pastor's wife?

Could be.

Calm down.

I didn't say either of them should decide. Just saying that while maybe it should be reported don't count on it doing anything.

Teen porn site could also mean 18 and 19, and more than likely does. Automatically assuming it is a child pornography site would more than likely be a huge mistake.

The FBI decides. That's why you report it.
Exactly. That's what happens...it gets reported, if for no other reason than it's on your phone.

Where was I not calm? What you said was it could be this or it could be that. It could be anything. It could be the pastor. That's why you leave it up to the authorities, not the pastor, not the pastor's wife, not you, or anyone else on the Internet to decide if it's child pornography. It's not about counting on something being done about it...put it in the hands of those who can do something, whether or not ultimately something gets done.

Was it labeled "Teen Porn Site" and we're trying to determine whether it's legal teens, or underage teens? The info we got was that it was child pornography. And as discussion boards go, that's the context we're discussing it. How is "automatically assuming it's a child pornography site" a huge mistake?

Here's the original post that started this thread: "My sister told me that the other day her DH was replying to a text she sent him but before his reply got to her a horrible link to a teenage porn site was sent to her! Her DH told her he has NO clue how that was sent to her before his actual text reply. They've been texting for several years and have never had this happen. Does her phone or her husband's have a virus??"

I see "teenage porn site", not "child porn site". That's what my comment was based on.

If it was within a current text thread, I don't see how it could have been anything but sent by the husband. I wouldn't accept the "I don't know how that got there" excuse.

Maybe she received a notification that she received a text while she was waiting for her husband's text, but it didn't come from him? But she thought it did? That's easy enough to see when you look at all the texts you've received on your phone.

Never had that happen, but my phone often wigs out on the Dis. I often get redirected to random threads I've never participated in (sometimes ones that are several years old), and occasionally redirected to entirely different websites. And on one of those occasions, it was an Ashley Madison type site. Weird thing is it's only on the Dis where I have this issue.

Weird on phones that start dialing a number!!

Apparently he answered her and as he sent it his reply plus the teen porn site showed up at the exact same time.
She's pretty sure it wasn't child porn.

I said it could be a virus or he could have messed up--meaning he accidently sent it to her. I never said it couldn't possibly be him because he was a pastor which is what you insinuated.

Not the pp who said it could be a big mistake but perhaps he meant that reporting it could be mistake in that it could cause a firestorm of media reports of a pastor and child porn when its not child porn at all.

Within his reply in the text thread? From his number? I know you're a third party so it's hard for you to answer but your phrasing here makes it sound like it was a pop up on the phone itself and not part of the text message. If was a pop up, unrelated to the text thread then SHE could have a virus on her phone.

Yes, that is what I meant. The "child porn" reference wasn't made by the OP and there is no reason to infer that that is what it was without much more info. Lives can be destroyed by these types of unfounded accusations and I think it could very well be a huge mistake moving forward automatically thinking it is child porn.

My sister was asking her DH if he was stopping at the store. He texted "yes, do you need something" and within the same message came the link.

And yes, that is what she is afraid of........maybe a virus on her phone.

I don't see this being a virus.

Sounds to my like he copied the porn link and this while texting the wife "yes, do you need something" he accidentally pasted the link then hit send and probably at the very exact time his angus puckered up and realized married life was over for him.
