*LIVE* from the Polynesian GV CL ~ Aug 24-Sept 1 ~

Since our 'Ohana dinner isn't until 8:35pm we decided to check out the evening lounge offerings.

There was chicken legs and wings (very moist and meaty!) to which you could add hot sauce to. The chef warned that the sauce was HOT so I drizzled just a little on my chicken. They also had mushroom risotto balls but I don't like mushrooms so I passed on those. They had carrots, celery, and cucumbers with a ranch dip. They had pineapple with caramel sauce. They the infamous turkey corn dogs so I HAD to try them. They were good! lol. They had fire roasted tomato hummus with mini pitas. They had Swiss and pepper jack cheese and various crackers.

They had several brands of beer, merlot, white, and white zin wine. And they had the tropical sangria stuff which was delicious.

Here's my plate. We brought our plates and sangria back to our room to enjoy it and relax.

Great start to your trip!! Yes, Irv is our favorite at Poly CL. My DH looks for him every trip....it just wouldn't be the same without him!

Sounds like you've had a really great start to your Poly stay!

That's so special that you got 2 sets of lei's!

Are you happy with your room location? I'd love to see a pic of your view :flower1:

You look lovely, enjoy your dinner and thank you for the wonderful updates, I can't tell you how much I am enjoying this, so thoughtful of you to do this, we all love it! Have a magical evening!!! PS: your view is nice, the palm trees are in the perfect location!

Regarding the view from our room my DH posted a panoramic view. We have a couple of large palm trees between us and the "dirt pit". LOL

As far as we could tell there was no work going on today.

There is a wide section of lawn and trees and other foliage between the Hawaii building and the fence.

We're currently waiting to be seated at 'Ohana and it's not crowded at all.

P.S. After we ate the lounge appetizers I passed out for about an hour and I think it was best nap of my entire life!!! lol

Oh almost forgot to mention!! The Polynesian still has that wonderful smell!! I noticed it as soon as we started walking up to front entrance this morning. I am home!!!

Thank goodness for that smell, I'm thrilled to hear it's still there! I'm very sensory so the smell is really important! LOL about the dirt pit! My fingers are crossed for you that it's a none issue, no noise.

Nothing like a power Disney nap! I sleep better at Disney than any other place, including my own bed! I think it's a cross between lots of exercise and simply being my most happy and content being in my favorite place. Eat some banana bread pudding for me! Enjoy!

I love the new lights in the GCH

'Ohana

I typed out a review then lost it, so here's the Reader's Digest version: New salad = yuck. New chicken wings = sad shadow of their former sticky-goodness. Noodles = ok. Mixed veggies = ok except YUCK to the mushrooms. Skewers = YUM. The best steak we've ever had there; cooked to a perfect medium with a little char on the outside. Chicken skewer was juicy and had a tasty glaze. My DH said the shrimp were good.

Bread pudding with banana-caramel sauce and vanilla bean ice cream was very good as usual.

DH and I each had an Island Sunset

Some observations at the Hawaii building include the new name of the resort on the entry mat.

this sounds almost exactly the way I felt about our 'Ohana meal in May! The salad was 'meh", wings were a little tough to eat, I didn't even touch the veggies (they were mushy). Noodles were sad. I filled up on pot stickers and chicken with a piece of steak. I dislike having to peel the shrimp so I don't eat them. The bread pudding is worth it though. My plan is to order 'Ohana feast from room service on our arrival day so that the girls can munch while we get ready for the party. I've been told that you can under order (like order for three to feed four) if you're not huge eaters. I think I'll ask for extra dumplings!

I wish they sold the bread pudding for take out or even at captain cooks, I'm telling ya, that might even give my beloved dole whip a run for its money! I think the consistency of Ohana varies, which is a shame. Still a great way to start your trip, and that drink looks awesome! Have a magical day!

I think they sell it at the bar in front of Ohana! What is it called? Tambu Lounge?

Happy Anniversary! I am enjoying the live report.

I know they are currently painting the outside of Hawaii - is the noise of the workers and/or cherry pickers bothersome?

It sounds as if you had a fabulous 1st day of your anniversary celebration. Your trip review is really making us look forward to my birthday celebration in December.

So glad Poly still feels like home to you guys!! We felt the same way when we were there last month. Even though our room was a bit in need of refurb, it really didn't bother us -- the entire resort feel was just so magical. I love the pictures and updates you are giving us -- thanks so much for taking the time!

LOL - and glad you like the turkey corn dogs! I actually had a few myself on nights when I didn't care for the hot appetizers ;).

Oh and I also love the lights in the GCH. Great picture!
