Ok ... just booked March 7th to March 16th. Anyone else going at that time? I need a discount package for my rooms etc, or else we will look for other options in Florida.

DVC member here! Booked March 9-16 at AKL. Hoping to also rent a car and make a day trip to Dunedin to check out some Jays spring training.

Was originally planning on March but due to the exchange going in January to save some $$.

Wife SIL and the kids heading down for 17-24, split between Poly and Boardwalk, I have to wait till next September to go.:sad2:

We have been planning to go again in March....around the 10th-19th. However, when I saw airfare this morning on SW I nearly had a stroke. The price is more than double what I paid for last March. I ended up booking the southbound flight(the price went up $20 in a matter of minutes) but I might cancel it tonight if nothing changes for the return dates. Not sure what to do really. We spent yesterday at a memorial service for a 16 yo girl and today I am really feeling that feeling of 'life is too short....it's only money'.

DDS, you are right on. Until this weekend, I wasn't planning anything for Disney until I my wife told me that she had told the kids we were going on March break. I gulped and thought ... how do I get fares around March break. So I booked one week in advance of March break using MileagePlus points via United. (Cost me $200 $USD for one way four people direct (AC)). Then I used Scotia rewards to offset some of the price of one way fares home (mid March break). All in all, I am less than $1,000 cdn for direct flights for four (return). Today, I pieced together my room via DVC points through someone I've rented from several times before. Bottom line though is my two older kids have moved out and I only have a 12 and soon to 14 at home .... I realize that soon they will not wish to travel with us. Life is short, it's only money and the memories matter the most. :)

The southwest fares released today weren't that great considering the exchange rate. So I went on Expedia.ca... I booked 4 round trip from Buffalo with Delta (short layovers both ways at LGA) for a total of $1200 Canadian.

Ironically...Westjet is a codeshare partner with Delta. So our LGA-MCO and MCO-LGA legs that I booked at the price are the shared Delta/Westjet flights. To book those through westjet would be $2063 Canadian, I hate Canadian air travel and the taxes!!

We are planning for March 2016 and thinking of renting a house. Anyone know where I should start looking?

I'm very sorry for your loss DDS. I totally agree with you, life needs to be lived now.:(

We cancelled our onsite Disney trip last month as the exchange rate was eating so much of the trip budget. It was causing me major stress with dd going to university in the Fall and those expenses on top. But last night my brother and sister and I cooked up a plan and it looks like we'll be doing a long weekend at Universal and then a week offsite. It will be a skimpier budget than I had hoped and we will have to tighten our belts but we LOVE these trips and like Ted said, I've got one child that is just leaving home, and one left at home. If not now, when? Not sure if Disney will be in the cards, and dd can only join us for four of the 10 days but it's something and we're excited.

So we're looking at last week of February into first week of March. :)

As per Pigletto's exchange rate comments, we have decided to not go to the parks this year. This will save us almost $2,000 cdn. We discussed this as a family and decided we could do without the parks this time since it was so busy and that the fast pass changes haven't worked for us (we usually hit the parks early and are out by noon .... new FP makes us stay longer)

NOTE: February 2016: CHANGED OUR MINDS .... TICKETS BOUGHT! :)

Life is short ,,,, enjoy them while you have them.
I'm heading down March 11th to March 18th,, going YYZ - MCO West Jet this time.
I'll be staying at OKW (Old Key West) and going solo,,I also had two of my 3 sons move out recently and to tell you the truth this is going to me a "Me" kind of vacation (YEAH). With the exchange rate right now I'm planning on only one day in the parks, I have a left over one day hopper from a non expiry ticket.
My kind of touring just doesn't match up with the new FP+ system. I am a early riser rope drop person,,, and like to be finished by noon. To be honest last year I felt like I was rushing around to go on three rides and then waiting forever to go on anything else.
The parks were crazy busy and the Standby waits were higher than I'd ever seen them,
some attractions and rides that never had a long wait now did.
So far I've saved up over 200 dollars on my Starbucks card via Airmiles points, this is certainly going to off set my food costs. I have been tossing back and forth the idea of going to UO for a day, I haven't seen the new section of Harry Potter yet.
planning ,,,planning,,planning,
maybe
a movie in DTD-Disney Springs
a quick shopping tour
massage at AKV
soak up those sun rays
.............................................. planning
Hugs Mel

:grouphug: you guys....thanks.

I think we are going to go. Talked about it with DH and he said "Do it!" I will have to figure out a way to tighten the trip belt a fair bit but I've done it before and I'm sure I can do it again. If we could just have a repeat of last March's weather(27-30 every day) I would be very content to lay in a lounger by the pool most days.

On the FP+ topic...I thought that it wouldn't work that well for us either but in the end I was good with it. We always attempt to make RD and have nearly made it many times. Last trip I booked FP+ for between 11-1:30pm and it worked. We like to head out of the park to relax around 1ish and then return in the evening. I might try booking them for that evening slot this time around.

My boss always says "Life is not a dress rehearsal. Live it while you can".

I very much subscribe to the philosophy of "plan for tomorrow, but live for today". The two don't have to be mutually exclusive. But I'm speaking as a brain tumor survivor.....so I am very much aware of how quickly "the future" can change.

dancin, I was so sorry to hear about your daughter's friend....I saw her photo and read her story via your FB page. She was a gorgeous young lady. The loss of any human being is a real sorrow, but for someone so young and full of promise.....its truly heartbreaking.

Take those young ladies of yours and have a marvelous time down south while the rest of us are freezin' our buns off here at home :) .

We are waiting for flights to be released tomorrow on southwest. We are 12th to 26 th.

I am also waiting, Ijust check and they still do not have the March dates out from Montreal. Were you able to find flights?

Would love to go in March but our break (both teachers) falls on Easter week and flights are crazy expensive as they always are that time of year. Coupled with the exchange rate and it's a no-brainer for us... maybe try for November next year, again. We usually have a very long weekend then, that we can be extend with a couple of personal days.

I just booked our flights yesterday for March 2-16! 2 whole weeks of Disney fun! I'm so excited! Now to decide where to stay and book all our ADRs!
The mid-week flights are a lot cheaper than weekend flights if you can swing it!
