Member Cruise for 2016

What all DCL ships have you been on? What or what not did you like about them?

I never saw this...

I have done the Wonder, Magic and Nightmare (AKA Dream)

Wonder and Magic are great ships. Service was outstanding. Our waiters on the Med cruise were the best I have ever seen. Ship has a nice feel, public areas are not packed. You can allow your kids in the pool without putting their lives in danger.

Dream had HORRID service (hint to servers, first seating at dinner should be done BEFORE second starts. It would also be nice to allow your guests to have something to drink besides water LOL!) Family pool made me gasp in horror. Luckily I did NOT have kid on the ship, because there is NO WAY they would have been allowed in there. I used to lifeguard and that thing is beyond dangerous. Disney doesn't even allow the guards to limit the number of guests to a safe number now after a horrid tragedy has occurred. The adult pool is squeezed in between the aft elevators and the family pool... so guess what, it's got lots of kids. Adult areas were DEAD (and this was a February cruise with lots of adults LOL! ) My "virtual porthole" was broken all cruise and the response was a giant shrug. (My poor room steward really tried to get it fixed!) The only thing I liked better was the spa area.

If I remember correctly there is currently a gap in the cruise schedule for the Magic between when the ship arrives in NYC after the 2016 WBTA and the fall cruise that goes up to Canada. I asked about it on this year's EBTA but never got an answer.

If all of your points were purchased resale after 3/20/2011, you can't book the member cruise at all.

You can book the member cruise you just can't use your points , you have to pay cash. We did this last August, I didn't want to waste all my points on a cruise so we paid cash for the member cruise

If all your points are restricted resale points that's nice to hear. I never liked that they did that restriction for what is essentially a charter.

Didn't notice this yesterday, but according to Mazz519's signature they been a DVC Member since 1997. Most if not all of their points are probably un-restricted.

I don't consider the swag a gift, with the inflated cruise prices guests are actually buying the stuff whether they want it or not.

We should know the dates soon for 2016. I think they announce the dates during the member cruise, which is coming up now. I've never done it, though I've cruised 6 times now and will be doing my 7th next month on the fantasy, which completes all 4 ships for us. Btw, I do like the smaller ships, but I'll know better have my next cruise. My husband really wants to do the MS cruise. Does anyone know if we can book this through our travel agent or do it ourselves through MS.

I think they announce the dates during the member cruise, which is coming up now.

Yes, it has been a long time, but they announced 2006's dates on the 2005 cruise. I remember being bummed because I knew I would not be able to go due to my teaching schedule.

As you can tell from our stateroom door on the DVC Members Cruise to Alaska, we are rooting for the 2016 one to sail out of NYC!

I think you have to do it through MS, even if you pay cash, because MS charters the whole ship.

By the way, DCL just made radical changes to it's 'bring on the booze' policy. For a lot of people it's no big deal, but for other's it's a deal breaker. Thought I would mention it before people got excited and started booking member cruises
