I know, I was bummed as well. I have all the fixings ready to go, to make 3 pillowcases for our friends kids that are sailing with us. I was talking to Solaryss yesterday about this, because she had just purchased pillowcases for her kids.
I suggested that she still could create a magic moment for them, and you could as well. This does all depend on how crafty you are though. You could get plain pillow cases for the kids (in addition to the autograph ones), and find the autographs you want to use online. Once you have the autographs, you can make a print up of them. There are 2 different ways you can go about adding the autographs. First, if you are confident in your copying skills, you can use the print up as a guide, and sign the pillowcase with fabric markers. The other option is to use fabric crayon transfers. With this option, you would print the autographs in mirror image, and then use the iron transfer crayons to trace the autographs (make sure to cover each letter completely, and do not make any stray marks). Once the autographs are traced, you place them colored side down on the pillow case, and cover with a second blank sheet of paper. It only takes a few seconds of heat and pressure from your iron to transfer the images. If you decide to do the 2nd method, I would suggest practicing a transfer onto a scrap piece of material first.

Now, armed with 2 pillow cases, you can make sure your daughter sees you put the plain pillow case on the pillow, and then at some point sneak back to the cabin, and make the switch. By the way, the pillows for the hide away beds are usually kept in the storage box in front of the couch.
Another option that just crossed my mind as I was typing is that you could also find your room steward, and ask them nicely to place the autographed pillow case on for you.

I hope this helps.

Does this include autograph books also?

Can you or can you not get pillowcases autographed on the Disney cruise. I was going to make some for my girls.
Sorry, as of August, Disney Cruises will no longer be offering the service of autographing items dropped off at the customer service desk. You can check out my suggestion in post 348, if you still want to get the pillow cases.

~ Tink ~

It looks like you already did check out that post.
The drop off service for autographs, includes all items. :guilty:

But, if you want to visit with the characters through out the cruise (different characters will make appearances through out the cruise, you will have to watch the Navigator to know when and where ), you can bring your autograph book with you, and they will sign it at that time.

Okay so you could still take the pillowcases to the meet the characters and get autographs

Also are there still a lot do people that do the trading pins? I thought this would be something good for my 10yo son to do instead of getting character autographs

Yes, from what I understand, you can take the items you want signed with you to the character meets and get them signed. Something else I have heard others mention is that they take a picture matte to be signed, and then use it in a picture frame with a picture from the cruise.

As for the pin trading, yes it is still a big deal. All of the merchandise location on the boat have a book that they keep at the different registers that you can trade with. Also, you should be able to find cast members in the shops wearing lanyards to trade with. There will also be an Officer pin trading event one night of the cruise.

4 more posts till you reach 10 :hyper2:

Thanks for the info that is very helpful

Do you know of any character meet and greets on this cruise that require tickets? Or is that information only available once you get on this ship ?

I don't think which ship we are on has as much to do with that as the itinerary does. Which makes this a little difficult to know for sure. The reason I say that is because not only is this a special port / sailing for Disney, but it also is going to be 'A Winter Wonderland ' sailing. That would lead me to assume that Anna and Elsa will be on board, and I have heard that they are characters that you would get tickets for. But, we all know what it means to assume.....
I will definitely keep my ears :earboy2: open, and let you know if I find something out. I had previously posted Navigators from 2013 for a similar sailing out of Galveston. It kind of gives an idea of what to expect. Hopefully someone from one of the sailings from Galveston prior to ours this year will share copies of their Navigators, so we can know before we go.

If we can't find out more before our sail date, you can plan to delay your visit to the buffet by a few minutes upon boarding, and go straight to guest services desk and ask. This is where you will most likely have to go anyway if they do have sign ups.

I know this wasn't a definite answer, but I hope it helped.

Monday Forget me Not's

This is a Disney cruise, so a great number of us are traveling with kiddos, and we need to remember that adjusting to a new environment may be a little difficult. You can help bedtime go a little smoother with a simple item that could easily be forgotten. No, I'm not talking about a night light, we're not supposed to use those, plus your precious outlet space will probably be completely filled up over night charging you tech gear (phones, tablets, etc ). Instead, you can bring a flameless (battery operating ) candle. These small tea light candles, are a cheap, safe way to bring a little bit of light to an otherwise very dark cabin. You can place one on the desk, and one in the bathroom to help everyone find there way when the lights are out. One extra benefits of having the lights is emergency preparedness. I know no one likes to think about the what ifs, but it is a good idea to be ready for them.

Oh, and one last thing, you don't have to travel with kiddos to have a cabin mate that is afraid of the dark. That is a fear that can come in adult size as well. FYI we always have to leave a light on in hotel rooms when we travel.

Howdy West 4:wave:
and Welcome aboard
:welcome::welcome::welcome:
We are glad you found us.
And to answer your question, Yes, we are the group for the Disney Wonder sailing out of Galveston on Black Friday of 2015 (Also known as Nov. 27, 2015 ).
I will add you to our Roll Call and to the FE list. I am going to need to get a little bit of information to add to the FE spreadsheet, but will have to wait until you reach 10 posts to be able to send the FE questions to you via private message.
There is some helpful tips on how to reach 10 quickly in posts #57 and #69 (My suggestion is to read both before using the information in the posts).
When you reach 10, you can either post here to let me know you are ready for the FE sign up or you can send a message to me. All you need is my screen name ~ pixiehallow.
I look forward to getting to know you and share in planning with you.

Hi! I think I've found the right thread finally so yay me! I'm working on reading through and replying so I can message also.

I just got through reading an article entitled 17 Epic Cruise Fails.
It had 17 different stories from past cruisers depicting mistakes they had made on cruises. It was amusing and enlightening. I wanted to pass it along so that none of us are caught making the same flububs. Click HERE to view the article.

I know know what "embarkation" is. I'm loving the tips and tricks along the way!

Happy be-lated Father's Day to all our Disney Dads!

And, by the end of the week, we will be down to only 5 month!
Where has June gone?

If you haven't done so already, you need to reserve your hotel and or parking before everything books up. Also, you should have already taken care of your passports. Check list items that are right around the corner, and will be on top of you before you know it, are online check in, on board activity reservations, and excursion booking. Now is the time to start looking into what you want to do, so that when your window opens, you are ready.

I have not sailed with Disney out of Galveston before, but I am pretty sure the procedures will be the same. If I am correct, you will not want to doddle when your window to complete your online check in opens. As part of the check in, you will choose your port arrival time, and the good times will be taken quickly.

~Tink ~
Uh oh. Passport??? I distinctly remember reading it wasn't needed for this cruise.

Welcome to the group DeeBelle!

My travel agent told us to get them. You may want to put a call into Disney or your travel agent ASAP to double check.
And if you are told to get one, you should still have time. Another member told me that when she went to take care of it they told her the return time was about 6 weeks.
