Thanks! I am amazed that I've been going to WDW for so long & I never knew this existed!! I guess it wasn't someone my parents would have been into. How did they manage this AND the rafts AND the steam boat??

Seems like it probably closed, due to CM's having to do too much babysitting of the guests in the canoe.

I know! it used to be great to go in September...you could literally walk on every ride with no line at all!

This photo was taken about 30 years ago. If I recall correctly, it was taken in one of the Communicores at EPCOT. If anyone knows this is incorrect, pleaase let us know. Thanks.

I think you are correct, I also remember a similar Mickey in the Mickeys Mart (Mickey star traders) driving a flying saucer.

Harry Holt at the Opera House, 1992

He was a former Disney animator. He did a series of pencil drawings (which were reproduced). You wpuld pick a drawing, and he would add the finishing touches as you watched, and then he would personalize it.

They still do this in DL where they have the rafts, steamship AND the Columbia sailing ship too.

We recently got my grandparents old 8mm film put on dvd and there's at least a good 10-15 min of footage from Magic Kingdom from the 70's. I'm pretty sure one of them is from 1976 and of some kind of bi-centennial parade they were having. Or maybe some type of 4th of July parade. I'd love to figure out how to get the dvd's onto youtube somehow so I can share with everyone.

I'm so curious to know where the first picture was.

The building in the first picture, was reworked into the entrance for the backlot tour that closed in Sep. of last year.

I believe he was a part of the Centorium store display in Communicore. I think there was a spaceship with Donald too.

Years before Marie,Toulouse, and Berlioz showed up at the Disney parks across the globe. The Scat Cats we're the the only characters from The Aristocats that we're present in WDW and Disneyland back in the 70's and 80's.

I wonder if any Aristocats merchandise we're around back in the 80's or early 90's? Because I'm curious to see old Marie merchandise before the late 90's. The oldest has to be the plush found at Animal Kingdom from 1997.

now I'm trying to find my pictures when we were there during hurricane katrina week. The whole place, resorts and all looked like this for an entire week.

does anyone have a really good picture of the flying dragon from fantasy land opening? I know they are being rebuilt for avatar land but any picture I have is blurry.

We came for Dad's BICSI convention and it was the winter after 9-11 as well. Tough time for tourism. We had a great trip. No fear! It's definitely back in a big way. We've staked our investment in it, so...
