I called this morning to make all three kids appointments before school starts, they said they would call back with the times and I have been sitting home all day waiting for them to call back. does anyone else have this problem with their kids doctor.

My pediatricians office would laugh at me if I expected to schedule a checkup with school starting back in a month! My twins have an appointment the day after Labor Day, that I was thrilled to get when I made it in June (I really thought I was out of luck calling so late). Everyone is getting sports forms done now.

Are they calling just to tell you the times? Why can't they leave a message? Or you call back and tell them to call your cell so you're not sitting by the phone? Why couldn't they check their appointments when you called ?

they could not tell me this morning because their computer was down. and she needs to call me back about the shots for my five year old because the form I have for school says she doesn't need a shot and the ped is telling me she does

Do you have a cell phone? Any more with how bad service seems to be at so many places, I only give out my cell number (and the fact that I do not have a landline).

There is no way I am going to feel obligated to sit in one place and wait for the phone to ring if they could call my cell.

yes they have my cell number

I've got to book summer appointments in January!

I do school/sport physicals now at a walk-in clinic instead of at our primary doctor.

Our office highly encourages us to schedule DD's next appointment while we are there. She had her 2 year appointment in early June and she'll go back when she's 3, also in June.

They've even contacted us about the new baby and want us to schedule his/her's first appointment as well. They're a very proactive group.

As for school physicals, I would assume they'd want those made as well far in advance.

because they always call my house instead of my cell even when I tell them to call my cell
OP - don't you have to start school before the kids go back on the 8th? All our teachers start 2 weeks before the students as they have professional development trainings, various meetings, and they have to get their classrooms ready for the new students?

If I tried to make not just one, but three well visit appointments less than a month from the start of school, the nurses would laugh at me.

Not sure why you are sitting by the phone. Even if they leave a message, you will know the computers are now up and you can call and confirm the appointments they suggested.

Do you have a voicemail feature that transcribes the message and sends you an e-mail? We have this with Comcast/Xfinity. So, even if somebody would call my house phone, I would get the e-mail right away on my cell phone and I could call the office back. In today's world of technology, there is no reason to have to sit around and wait for a phone call.

I go back to work on September 2nd to set my room up. I just called and they are still having computer issues. at least the dentist will be out of the way after tomorrow

So their computer system is likely still down and/or they need to get back to sick patient,ts etc first and will call you to schedule when everything else is done.
I would just have given a cell number and if i did not hear today, call back in the morning in case I got lost in the shuffle.

I wonder why you ask if others have this issue, without explaining in the OP that this is not the normal system and is due to computers not working?

I agree that I would be stunned if you can get one, let alone three, appointments for check ups in summer time so close to school starting.

Besides your one needing shots, what are the appointments for? It's been a long time since my boys were that age, sorry.

I do remember with my first son we could just go to the health department for shots.

I did my daughters sports physical T target last week. I would have had to make arrangements At her doctors months ago and I just never seem to do that so its just easier to do the quick physical there
