Cecil the Lion

Well let's light our torches and go to his house! What's his address?
You must not have followed my link.

It seems to not be a good time to be a big game hunter. Especially one with customers that don't appreciate their doctor's 'hobby'.

Why in the world would they worry about a lion. Is not human life more valuable?

But apparently a great time to be a witch hunter!

Well let's light our torches and go to his house! What's his address?

Photo that just came out on Twitter, of a group of social media vigilantes who are already outside Dr. Seski's office:

Sadly, it's not just that poor child whose death is being ignored.

Note, a picture with a caption of 1 lion shot in Africa and everyone loses their minds, 1,560 shot in Chicago and nobody bats an eye was omitted from the quote by me because it looks like there is a depiction of a dead body.

None of us that care about Cecil have "lost our minds" thank you very much. We're getting used to the insults.

Certainly it would seem you should start your own "I'm outraged about x, the rest of the world doesn't care enough as I see it" thread.
If it were that big of a deal to her, rather than post a picture that uses 1,560 people shot as part of an insult, she'd have started several threads on them already.

This is a thread about the death of a lion. I don't understand why some here keep insisting on slamming the topic. As already stated go start your own thread if these other topics matter so much.

Yes, human death is a horrible tragedy and should be noticed. That doesn't keep the killing of Cecil from being sad and important to a lot of people. Some of us can chew gum and walk at the same time. However harassing people endlessly probably isn't winning too many of them over to your cause.

You know something? If you look through this forum you see all kinds of threads about topics that aren't as important as human suffering and even the death of a lion. Why aren't any of you trying to change the topics of those?

Of course human life is more valuable. But does that mean that we shouldn't care about anything else? This would be a sad world if we were so restricted.

I realize that many of you don't care about this lion and maybe not about animals at all but that doesn't mean that others don't. Should they not be allowed to discuss this topic? I could turn the tables and ask why some of you don't seem to care, in other words why some of you are heartless. But maybe you just have different viewpoints and that's fine IMO.

I was quite surprised, that the carcass was left to rot. Isn't it customary to give it to the locals to consume? This made me believe, this kill wasn't quite legal. Just my thoughts.

I chose not to quote your message above, did you deliberately post a photo of a dead body in your post #337, or is that a fake?

~snip~

I'm sure it's real, this isn't the first time Dinolounger has plastered dead bodies on this forum. :sad2:

it appears that another American, Dr. Jan Casimir Seski, is accused of poaching a lion with a bow and arrow in April

Thank you for providing a case study example. The above post falls into the classification described in top left box in the below step diagram. The next phases you will see here will be posts of outrage about Dr. Seski, which will be followed by demands for "justice," then his head (box in pink below) which will in turn be followed by posts disclosing details on the Dr., followed by calls for his being harassed and punished. Once this target is dispensed with, a new one is identified and the cycle repeats itself.

Correct. In the case of herbivores, some (or all) of the meat will be consumed within the camp. If there's excess, it's donated locally. In the case of carnivores, it's almost always completely donated as the hunting camps typically have plenty meat from more desirable animals.

Thank you for a logical post.
