BOULDER RIDGE VILLAS & COPPER CREEK VILLAS & CABINS: Wilderness Lodge DVC Expansion Thread

Also, not sure how accurate this information is but the CM told us the pool demo would be done first and would be extremely noisy. She said they are shutting down a significant number of villas. As our stay is early Nov 2015, we decided to move.

Since Construction starts late October I wonder if they will still be working on the pool in early December (if all demolition will be done on it by then and they'll be "constructing" by then)

Our trip is in January and we were still asked to move (we did not). They are completely tearing out the old pool and expanding/making a new one. I've heard Oct - end of Jan for this to happen. And that's ASSUMING there are no delays.

Grin - "end of January" means it will be finished just in time for Spring Break :). Maybe :).

I'm hoping the Oct - Jan time frame includes the 'making new one' and that the jack hammering of the old existing concrete will be done by the time we get there in December. One can always hope. :-) I'll be packing earplugs for everyone.

I wouldn't worry, unless you have little nappers with you- they won't start before 9 and won't go past 6-7 in the evening :)

This is exactly what I'm hoping for. I'm already struggling paying so much for this resort in general. Staying at the All Star I would save a little under 1000K ... Maybe I should save the WL for a "special occasion trip" after the construction is done.

I checked my mail today and finally received the construction letter from Disney concerning my 29Oct trip. I'll keep it as a souvenir and look back after my trip, seeing if I made a good decision or not to stay.

I was going through some mail that my MIL brought in when she was staying with us a couple of weeks ago and found the letter. Ours says the nature trail will be closed, but mentions no other closures. Our dates are October 18-24.

For what it's worth - we'll be there the first week of December and the CM I talked to was insistent that the noise would be minimal. I think it all depends on who you talk to! :confused3

Well be there the day after major construction starts, October 27. Hoping we won't hear too much jack hammering. I have 2 nappers. I'll be bringing our sound machine hope it helps to mask the noise ;)

When we stayed at the main lodge last time they were jack hammering the DVC pool we heard it and thought - glad we're not in the villas! It shouldn't be too bad in the main lodge. But right next to the jack hammering. More than minimal. We're in the villas this time and hope to escape most of the noise by going to the main pool.

We stayed at VWL the last time they refurbed the pool and we didn't hear a thing. Funny how sound carries. During that stay, I think we were at the very end of the lodge, closest to Ft. Wilderness, and nowhere near the pool area.

I thought I'd add my information to the collection of CM information roulette. ;) I finally discovered I got the letter last night (it came when my MIL was staying and she didn't alert me to the letter). Our dates are October 18-24, and the letter says that only the nature trail will be closed. It's a different form of the letter that people with dates later than ours received because it mentions nothing about pool closures, the beach, fire pit, etc. It does say that there may be noise, but not until after 9 a.m. Anyway, I decided to call, just to see what they'd say. The CM I spoke to (who was one of the worst I've ever dealt with on the phone...he was friendly enough, but kept interrupting me which I found to be rude) said that some of the letters were sent out mistakenly and were "over zealous", and according to their construction schedule, there will be no construction going on until October 26th at the earliest, and that they've been told that it may be pushed back and probably won't start on the 26th anyway.

Take it with a grain of salt, but that's the message I was given today.

We also received the same letter about the trail being closed but it did not mention the pool, fire pit or beach. I called both guest services and the front desk at WL and got told that none of the construction will start before October 26th. There will be no walls up and there will not be any work on the quiet pool until after that date. We are staying Oct. 17 to 24 in the villas. I guess we won't know for sure till we get there.

Sound is funny. For a while we had the TV in the living room instead of the den. The sound was louder sideways down the hallway in the bedroom around the corner at the bed than it was in the living room directly in front of the TV.

Got the call last night that during our trip the DVC Pool, some trails, the beach, and the main play ground will be either closed or limited during our stay. We are at Wilderness Lodge for Wine and Dine Half Marathon. We were offered to switch but there were no deluxe left at our race package price so they gave use 100 a night extra off. They said the main building and pool will not be affected by anything but noise. We all agreed with the hours being promised at 9am-7pm we could "tough it" for the extra cash off and to finally be able to stay at Wilderness Lodge.

We were also promised that the boat transportation would still be offered but with a limited schedule. We only want to take the boat once so as long as it is still offered we can make that work.

I wasn't told by anyone that the boats
would run on a limited schedule. The
letter I received I received in the mail didn't say that either. I hope the boats will be running as usual. We have an ECV in our party and try to avoid busses as much as possible.

That's the first I heard the boat schedule would be limited.

Was just on the phone and the first CM switched me to a manager with out me even asking.

I spoke with Marie who was absolutely lovely. She said she is unaware why the first CM said the boats would be on a limited schedule as the hotel has ensured them (runDisney travel) that they will not be affected at all. She also didn't mention the Spa being out of service in November. She did say our trip it is entirely possible that construction won't even be going on because the scheduled start is Oct 24-26 (she said she couldn't remember the exact date) and that in her words "around these parts things don't usually start on time". She said in January things will be much worse and they are going to contact people then and strongly suggest a move of resorts since all resorts are host resorts for marathon weekend but at this time there are no similar deluxe resorts open that are host resorts for Wine and Dine so we could either downgrade to Caribbean or the All-Stars or switch to a non-host resort with no compensation for the additional travel to and from the expo and after the race.

Marie really made me feel better about staying. She seemed genuinely honest with her assessment of the construction at that time based on the start date and the schedule they have. I was only nervous because we are taking a first timer with us and I would hate for them to have a terrible trip.

I love taking the boats to MK and everywhere honestly. It is my favorite part. We are there for marathon weekend in January and have opted to keep our DVC WL reservation. We shall see how it goes.

We did W&D last year, staying at a non-host resort (OKW) and it was a nightmare. It rained the entire time of the race and the buses getting back were terrible. Most likely because everyone was trying to leave at once because of the rain. If we do a race weekend again where the host resorts are limited, I'm staying at an Epcot resort where we can just walk. HA.

We booked our Nov/dec stay at WL through a TA. Can we call guest services directly about switching &/or discounts or does the TA have to act on our behalf.
