As I was standing in line at DHS...

For the love of...some of us were dragged as children to the Star Wars movie (at a drive-in!) and thought it was really, really stupid. Thirty-some years later, some of us still think it was a stupid science fiction robot movie. Please, please, please don't continue the shrine-hood. There are so many movies new and old movies to inspire attractions. ANYTHING but the incredibly outdated Star Wars.

DHS really does need updating and more attractions - I really miss Catastrophe Canyon - timeless, surprising and informational.

Maybe, but the 30 billion dollars of franchise revenue so far is attractive to go after.

I agree. With all of the old and new films/shows, Star Wars fans are a wide range of ages, including older adults with lucrative jobs. I'm talking about money. I think it could bring Disney a lot more money than Frozen, Marvel, or some other possible tie-ins.

Unfortunately these frontline CMs know about as much as we do. Also adding four rides to DHS would not give it more rides than MK.

Personally I am not much of a Star Wars fan so I would not like to see them make HS the center of attention. I would rather see something along the line of Cars Land.

Two of my kids and I were checked in for an early H&V breakfast by a lovely older gentleman cast member who was shared some things with us. It started on us commenting about the length of the line for the Star Wars breakfast compared to the H&V. He made a comment that they should just rename the park something to do with Star Wars. I asked him about the Star Wars breakfast continuing and he replied that they should since it was bringing in so many people.

Then he went on to say the HS (always will be MGM to me) is getting FOUR new rides and "Will have more rides than the Magic Kingdom." REALLY? I dug and dug for more info, but he said he didn't know what they were or when.

Then when at 50's PTC on another day (our Star Wars weekend day...OHHH, the crowds...Seriously this should be an indication of what sells! Leave my beloved ToT and the great 30's theming but make the rest Lucas Land with a salute to all things Harrison Ford! bunny trail over) our waiter also told me that "Big things are coming for the fall." He said there would be a lot of announcements about HS in the fall and it was going to be incredible. Again, he wouldn't elaborate (and I really didn't think he knew much more).

Both these CMs seemed to really have drunk the Disney kool-aid (as I have too) and were excited about the fantastic possibilities that might happen!

You mean like Avatar? :guilty:

Sorry. Couldn't resist.

Even though you may think avatar was a bad idea Disney is going full force with that expansion and it's said to be one of the biggest quality additions in WDW.

Nah, Rteetz. I'm actually an Avatar fan and think the new land in AK will be great. But I took the quoted text to imply they didn't like Star Wars because of the sci-fi aspect. I was just poking a little fun at the comment about ANY other movie besides Star Wars.

If how they're handling Frozen is any indication maybe they plan to re-theme things.

Let's see.... The It's Tough to be a Bug playground could easily be changed to Felucia and I can already see Return of the Jedi 4-D.

Hey, you never know. ;)

I keep holding out for some sort of DHS announcement whether it be star wars Pixar or something else at D23. I'm just afraid I'm setting myself up for disappointment

This would be a much needed addition to DHS, out whatever they decide to call the park. More rides should take some of the burden from TSMM, RnR, and ToT. I'm not a huge Star Wars fanatic, but I do like the movie series. As like everything you hear, I take all rumors with a grain of salt until confirmed by Disney.

I'm a Star Wars nut so I'm biased on what I would like but I don't get Cars Land. I've seen the pics and read that everyone generally enjoys it but I think the Cars movies were the worst that Pixar has put out. Especially Cars 2.

Irregardless whatever they decide to build will be (at Disney's building rate) a good 5+ years away.

I always get a chuckle out of the "I don't like such-and-such so therefore them adding that to the parks would clearly be foolish", ignoring the facts of things like this: Our local ballpark (minor league) has Star Wars night every summer. It's the biggest (most well attended) game of the year. People dress up in costumes, they sell thousands of lightsabres. A troop of Star Wars enthusiasts put on a show on the Jumbotron and the field after the game. I'm talking 100+ "actors" and 20,000 fans. And that's for a baseball game. For a product that hasn't put out a decent movie in 32 years, but has a new movie now scheduled every year until forever. I can't say I've seen that for any other IP ever.

Back to the original rumor...this is a topic that's been in discussion for a few years now. CM are not unlike us Disney fans. Rumors spread through the back alleys and utilidors. They don't mean a lot.

The odd thing about the DHS rumors is there always seems to be two conflicting sets. One is that they are going to start on this "soon", and the other is that the decision/announcement is a way off. The facts are that they've closed a few attractions - in particular the back-lot tour - that would indicate some plans are in place.

If they change DHS over to a full-time Star Wars park, how will they justify the $69.95/person special Star Wars dinner?

Nevermind, stupid question :rolleyes1
