Disney Gift Card Deals

For those who are having trouble with their DVA and if you have ios tablet/phone, when I get my gift cards in the mail (I know it is an extra step) I add them to my Disney gift card app then I add them to my DVA. Many of you probably do the same. I do this to check the balance and so I can keep track of the balance and as a double check to see that they were added to my DVA. It keeps history of the redemption. Also, if I have to request a refund from my DVA I can easily see what card it was refunded to (since they refund to the cards you paid with, traditionally). I label them Aug Res 1, Aug Res 2...,etc. If I add it to my DVA I put DVA at the end. Maybe I am over thinking things but as I read the issues some are having, I am thinking it is worth it. So far I have had no issues with cards not activated, or accounts not credited, or nothing missing in the mail (knock on wood as I am waiting for 3 small orders) so I am counting myself lucky. I have to do what I can to protect my little percentages off, lol.

Is the Disney Gift Card app only for Apple? I'm not seeing it in the Google Play Store.

I called last night and the representative told me it should fix itself within a few hours but this morning the money still wasn't there. Trying to call this morning got me nowhere because some departments aren't open yet. Ughhh I have to wait until after to work to deal with this. In the meantime I'll email them from the website too. At least I know I'm not alone but this sucks!

Yep I show they open at 10am EST so I have to wait a bit longer to call them. Keeping my fingers crossed for us!

I just spoke to them and they took my information to research and get back to me. She did verify the gift card "looked good" which made me feel a little better. She said others were having this issue last night so clearly it sounds like they are aware of the issue. She said I could also try again later and perhaps the "hiccup" would be fixed. I'm afraid to keep trying but we'll see. I'll give them a chance to respond and go from there.

They pulled the Disney Gift Card App. It was about time. The last update for that app was in 2011. I tried using it and it got worse with each iOS update. I couldn't delete cards or refresh balances. It would just freeze and/or crash.

Has anyone else noticed that you can earn Swagbucks for Raise purchases! 1SB per dollar!!!

Sorry to hear about all the DVA issues! I need to add some gift cards to the account so I can pay off my WDW trip next week. It's a room only reservation and I only owe $120 so worst case scenario I just pay it when I get there.

I also take the time and label each and every card I use to enter into the DV account. I also print off the pages from the DV account website and track when I've "earned" a $20 and what I used to make the payments with. I've never had an issue entering a card that didn't give me credit, like above. It's happened to three of us now so clearly it's a website issue, which indeed is a little scary. I'm hoping it's easily fixed as the other issues like non-activated gift cards from Target and lost in the mail/stolen feel "bigger" but good gravy.

When I had a refund issued, it was issued into my DV account as a lump sum, not to my individual gift card I used, so just FYI. I'm sure it could differ depending on how the payment was made or what was used to pay what, but that was my experience.

Right, I mean if you ask for a refund from you DVA account, not the reservation paid with the DVA account. I sure do hope it is an easy fix (or at least a positive outcome) for EVERYONE!!

DVA seems to be having a bunch of issues these past few days. I just entered a card into my account and now my account has been frozen. Off to tech support I go!

EDIT: I've been on hold for 16 minutes now, being transferred around. Be very specific when you call. It sounds like many CMs think DVA is DVC.

EDIT 2: If this happens to you (your account shows up as frozen), log out and log back in before wasting 25 minutes of you time on hold.

Curious if anyone gets through to DVA. The phone just keeps transferring to dining, and they are completely confused why they are getting all these calls. They try to transfer me to DVA and just get dining themselves.

I also just had an issue with a card not going through on DVA and the balance of it now shows $0.

EDIT: Called the gift card services number and they took down the card info, as well as the other gift cards I entered today, as well as my DVA account number. I'll hear back from them on Monday but he didn't act like this was the first time he'd done this.

Yep, when I called yesterday the lady kept mentioning DVC and it was clear she didn't have much experience with DVA. By the end of the call she told me to just use the online Form to request help. I don't know that I feel like calling right now... Maybe I will hold out for an email back.

You have to print off their egift cards. I have never done that. It makes me a little nervous

Good question...I am afraid to eGift Cards for restaurants. I read that at Landry you have to print the certificate. What happens if someone uses it before I get to (meaning the previous owner...) I am not sure that I am thinking of the same thing though.

If they don't have a hand held scanner, I would not trust someone with my phone. For stores like Target, where I'm standing right in front of the cash register, it's fine. But at most restaurants, they have to take it back somewhere and who knows what they'll do!

I've used a voucher at Rainforest before with no issues. Don't purchase if you don't plan to use it within Raise's guarantee (60 days I believe?). But, looking at their inventory and percentages I don't think these particular gift cards are from secondary sources. I think this is a sale between Raise and Landry's.

I am not a math whiz, so please correct me if I'm wrong:

Swagbucks allow members to buy a store gift card (not Paypal) once a month for 2200 points.

As far as I can tell my best options are to redeem SB for either Target or WalMart gift cards and then use those to buy Disney gift cards.
WalMart cards would be used at Sam's Club, discount is 4.68%
Target discount is 5%

Using the example of a $3000 purchase (over time), the savings from Target would be $150; from Sam's it would be $140.40.

All Target transactions are done online and shipped to my house.
Sam's Club could be purchased in person for immediate pick up (or done online).

We are Sam's Club members and shop there weekly so I don't really consider the member fee an added expense to the gift card. And if needed I could always access the WalMart cards for other stuff. Target is 100 miles away and I only shop there a couple times a year or when buying Disney cards online.

Given all the trouble some folks have had with delivery I wonder if it's just better to buy the gift cards in person at Sam's?
