So what bothers you at WDW that may not bother anyone else???

Smart phones at the dinner table....come on folks talk to each other before humanity looses the ability. If you are at Disney with a group you have real friends and family...savoir this time together.

My DH and both our children pull out their phones the minute we sit down at a table in a restaurant. I hate it. I always have to tell them to put them away.

I was at WDW a few weeks ago with my adult nephew. Just me and him for 7 nights, 8 days. We used our smart phones many times while eating. For us, there was a need to connect with other family members and friends for a while. I love my nephew to pieces, and he loves me, but we did need other company sometimes. Even if that other company was via texts or messages.

Uh, no. You did not simply "state a fact" about your own experience. You made a definitive blanket statement about everyone's experience and then you told another poster that they have never even been to WDW. Let's take a look at that one again:

My point is that people like you, whose likelihood of being wrong and saying something stupid increases when they feel more certain they are right, never apologize for things like that. Generally they pretend that they never said it and then they say some variation of "I'm just keeping it real, haters gonna hate."

You can be the juiciest peach around and still be rotting from the inside out.
Troll comments.

No need to be mean to those who think ahead. Sorry you got mad. I'm not. I'm just a planner. I'm not making a blanket statement. I'm telling you my experience. Sorry.

This is at least the second person on this thread you called a troll. That's not very nice. You can make your point without name calling.
Then troll comments need to stop.
Not sure what else to say.

I was asked a questioned. I answered. Then got reamed for it. with troll comments. I didn't ream other people for their pet peeves.

I was not "reaming" you for your pet peeve, it was how you taunted another poster for getting facts wrong when, in fact, you were the one who had your facts wrong. I predicted that you would make excuses but never apologize for insulting the PP when the PP was right and you were wrong. If that accurate prediction makes me a troll, I'm going to have some thinking to do when you try to cross my bridge.

Ok.

Disney does not block people from getting a table. This is hilarious. You my dear are funny.

You have never been to Disney.

Are you forgetting about this post? You are not simply posting your experiences, but making blanket statements that are not true. And being nasty about it while you do so.

Disney does indeed block people from getting a table when they feel there is the need to do so. Maybe you haven't experienced it, but that doesn't make it less true.

Wow, nasty much? You are the funny one: you complain about people's "me me" attitudes, and then go on to display a fine example of that yourself. And your facts are completely incorrect. I have seen table access at QS locations restricted plenty of times. I guess maybe you don't know as much as you think you do, and how sad that you feel the need to be so harsh to a person planning a first trip. Wow.

Hi Everyone! Can you do me a personal favor? Can you take this back and forth offline? This wasn't the purpose of the thread and this constant attacking is hijacking it's intent.:sad2:

See, I created this thread to highlight how we can be very funny in our idiosyncrasies. I thought it would be fun to explore that part of our logic, but this is fast becoming nothing more than flame sessions going back and forth about whether or not you can hold up a table. Now this would be fun if it wasn't for the personal attacks and constant one upmanship. :rolleyes2

So here's what I am here to do: If you were offended by any comments made on this thread, I apologize. I should have been more forward-thinking in my approach to having fun with this thread. Please accept my apology and let's move on or close this thread.

Thanks!:flower1:

I actually took mine out at dinner on purpose once. I handed it to my son and told him to call one of his sisters. We were at WCC and I wanted him to enjoy some of the "fun" there. They put him "in jail" because he was on a phone. They literally brought a wooden prop out that has bars in it and put it in front of him. :rotfl: I do understand what you are saying though. :)

Please don't think I mean this meanly, but no one, not even the original poster "owns" the thread. A large number of them go off on tangents that have nothing to do with the first post. This is true not just on the Disboards but on message boards in general. Once you accept that, it is a lot less frustrating when things go off into different directions.

Having said that, I will stop my back and forth with the other poster. I just dislike being called a liar when I'm not.

Your situation was different. You were all interacting with the device. My problem is when everyone zones in to their phones and enters their own little world.

I am not a smoker and am allergic to cigarette smoke. I don't mind that people smoke( it is up to them), but please do it while in the designated areas. That is what the areas are for. On my trip last year I must have come in contact with several people just standing or walking around smoking. The thing is some of these people smoking were doing it in eye sight of Cast Members and nothing was being said at all.

I have to disagree. While there are both polite and impolite people everywhere, in general Southerners are more polite than Northerners. I've lived in several places in the Northeast, New England, South, Midwest, West Coast, etc. (I'm originally from the very far North)..

well, my post was pretty much "tongue-in-cheeK". I post a similar response everytime someone posts something like " I am from the South, so I'm more polite..." as someone born and raised in the north, I take offense.

sorry you have had bad luck with other people. but people from the north are just as polite as people from the south . politeness is not determined by the geographics of your hometown. that statement is basically insulting to northerners. who mostly are wonderful!!! great!! polite!!! people! (as I'm sure are most southerners, who I would not think to insult.. I'm too polite ;) )
ps you won't find any nicer, friendlier people than in the midwest! (even packers fans like nilla!)

These are just great! I am seeing a lot of synergy surrounding the whole bus thing, so let me just quickly clear something up::teacher:

  • The whole Southern talk was just me trying to be colorful. Even though I live in the Atlanta area (and has been for 25 years, I'm originally from the Midwest and I've been giving up my seats for ladies since I was a child.)
OK, now that I cleared that up (hopefully),:teeth:

yes you did! and thank you for reposting and clearing that up. I am very happy to hear that you know that people from the north, or midwest, or southwest, etc etc are just as polite as southerners!!!! :)

YES!!

The Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique has no P and no Y!
And it's 'Ohana not O'hana. It's not an Irish restaurant.
Dining plan not dinning plan.
Garden Grill not Garden Grille.

Can you tell I have been reading dining reviews?

here's another dining faux pas : It is Hoop De Doo REVUE!!!! NOT REVIEW!!! lol that drives me nuts. a "revue" is a song and dance number. you can do a "review" of the "revue". but it is a Revue!!!

They take them away? Let me see if I can remember: Isn't the smoking session to the right of the Castle, moving towards the back? The reason why I'm trying to remember is because we ALWAYS find ourselves having to rush through the smoking section, holding our breath and everyone looking mean at me for leading them there!:scared:

(But you may be right. I don't know of any smoking sections anywhere except at MK. Or maybe I'm just good at staying clear if it.:smooth:)

they are definitley taking smoking sections away. only 3 at AK total..(one outside the ticket boots, so not IN the park) they took away the one by the castle. they are constantly taking them away, but not replacing them with ones in dif. locations.

smoking is a physical addiction. would most smokers want to go back in time and never start? yes.. but it is ridiculous to keep limited the DSAs. It makes it difficult for smokers to follow the rules.
the one next to space Mt. was down in a pit and no one had to walk anywhere near it. the one near the fountain in future world in epcot was set so far back by mouse gears, no where NEAR a door. peopel would have to make POINt to walk anywhere near it.

The talking Mickey bothers me. For some reason, I have no problem suspending disbelief for the regular characters. The talking Mickey pulls me right out of that illusion and just seems bizarre and strange. I can't really figure out why, it just seems wrong.
