Getting ready to head to airport for a few weeks at Jeanne's ... doubt I'll be on the boards too much. She keeps me pretty busy grading papers, etc. I'll be back at the Beach Club on the 24th!!
"Relaxed Disney" is a whole different animal...we have always done "turbo Disney" in the past, but my last two trips have been more mellow, also due to heart issues. (I won't say relaxed because I can't seem to do that entirely) My all time favorite pastime is sliding a chair to the center, and sitting on the depot above the entrance to MK to just look, and smell, and absorb...the people watching from this vantage point is pretty great too!
And having your ADRs planned and made really does remove some of the stress of the visit...you can then just take your time to arrive at your dining or FP+ location...and to tell you the truth, sometimes we didn't even do very many rides...just strolled and enjoyed!
News about the BCV refurb has been hard to find and mostly still rumor. A person staying there in October received the construction warning letter for their October trip. Another rumor has a finish date of Dec 16th. It is supposed to start soon but no one can confirm that it has started yet.
I'm wondering if they're giving more upgrades right now because of the number of rooms under refurbishment.
I hope some day DH and I can shift to "relaxed Disney" from "turbo Disney" - but I fear we will need to leave the kids at home to truly get there!!! Don't know where they get the energy....especially on vacation!
Disney without kids is awesome, but once your kids get older, they'll probably prefer relaxed Disney too Our trips are very different from what they used to be! And when the kids are old enough, you can let them go to a nearby park alone if they have extra energy to burn...it's really nice (FYI, my kids are 16 and 11...they'll be 17 and 12 this fall...and I just started letting them go to parks alone last fall...and it was just to MK from GF. When we're at BC, I'll let them go to Epcot and HS, even though they could probably go to any of them now, especially since my older daughter looks like she's 21!)
The online check in has an option for full balcony. I always check that box. So far it is working 50% of the time, one BC room with a full balcony and one without.
We arrive on June 6th!! See you there
Super excited!!!
Anyone stay in a refurbished room at BC and can share photos?
Hoping we get a refurbished room for our stay
I'm going to ask this question here because you all are so great: I started to really look at some of the menus that we have ADRs for, we are traveling with my MIL and SIL, so they picked some of the restaurants, for my SILs birthday she picked La Hacienda de San Angel, I don't think there is anything on the menu that my son would eat, is it acceptable to bring in a meal from a different Epcot restaurant with us? Are the posted menus all of the offerings? We would order him a drink and dessert, we are not on a meal plan. Thank you for any insight. If it wasn't her birthday we would separate for this meal.
Can adults go down the slide at Stormalong Bay? It looks really neat!
As an adult who not only went down the slide but who also provided much entertainment to those who witnessed her very in lady like exit from the slide I can confirm that Yes you can slide all day if you desire!!! LolCan adults go down the slide at Stormalong Bay? It looks really neat!
Quick question for the Christmas trip I'm planning. All of the videos and images I've seen of YC seem to have people dressed pretty nicely. No one's wearing disney shirts, there's lots of men and women in polos and nice capris, even the families walking back from Epcot seem to have people dressed pretty nicely. Will my family be out of place here wearing Disney shirts and things like adidas shorts and more sporty-like attire? We usually stay at Saratoga and don't feel out of place but we want to try YC at Christmas and now I worry we might feel too dressed down and will stick out in a not good way.
My youngest is very fussy and if there's absolutely nothing in the menu I would bring him little tubs of grapes and dry Cheerios/ crackers for him to nibble on while we are eating. I was always able to find a dessert he liked ( surprise surprise lol) but we made lunch his main meal that day. We never had any problem with restaurant as everyone else was ordering normally. Hope this helps put your mind at easeI'm going to ask this question here because you all are so great: I started to really look at some of the menus that we have ADRs for, we are traveling with my MIL and SIL, so they picked some of the restaurants, for my SILs birthday she picked La Hacienda de San Angel, I don't think there is anything on the menu that my son would eat, is it acceptable to bring in a meal from a different Epcot restaurant with us? As pointed out, we have not had any positive sightings posted here on this thread about the BCV refurb starting as of yet. I also received the letter and my stay is in the second week of December. I would suggested that by October there will be plenty of rooms that have been refurbished so if you indicate in your room request that you would like to have one of them you probably stand a good chance of getting it. Just remember that requests are not guaranteed. And be sure to keep checking page one of this thread where Dee keeps us up to date on the latest of the goings on with the resort refurbishments. She relies on posters here to keep her up to date so keep that news coming.Sorry if this is answered here in this thread - I read back several pages and reviewed the first post and don't see anybody talking about refurbishments actually starting on BCV? Has anybody seen evidence of this starting - everything I read says this should have started in March but I haven't seen anyone mentioning it. We are traveling in late October and although it will not be done by then was hoping at least a few floors would be done and some refurbished rooms would be available? Thanks!
My TA put in a room request for me but I wanted to know if I should call or fax something over a few days prior to arrival to ensure "full balcony" which is my only request? Or can I do that when I do online check in?
As previously pointed out, faxes don't seem to work any more on room requests. The people in the know here on this thread stongly urge a phone call to CRO five to eight days out checking that your requests are on your reservation. Remember though, requests cannot be guaranteed as it really gets down to room availability at the time of your check-in. If something is really important, don't do on-line check-in. Go to the desk and tell them you can wait if what you really want will be available later in the day or that you will be willing to move later in your stay if what is important to you becomes available. So glad you posted this. I was told to fax my request a week before my stay. I can't find the fax number for the BC. Can someone help me with this? TIA
As previoulay pointed out, YES, adults can go down the slide. If you go to one of Dee's trip reports you can see a picture she took of her feet as she started down the slide. I prefer being at the bottom and watching the graceful exits. Can adults go down the slide at Stormalong Bay? It looks really neat!
I have to tell you that apparently they didn't take those pictures when I was in the lobby. Shorts can by iffy that time of the year though as some days the temperatures never get out of the 60's and nights can be down-right chilly. What you may have seen is a bunch of conventioners that do tend to dress a little better than your average vacationer. I have never felt uncomfortable wearing my typical vacation clothes of tee-shirts, golf shirts, blue jeans or shorts when walking around the YC. And I have been there the weeks after Thanksgiving the past few years. Remember that when they do those advertisements a lot of it is staged so don't worry about your attire. You will fit right in. And you will really like the Christmas decorations at the YC (train display) and the BC (chocolate carousel).Quick question for the Christmas trip I'm planning. All of the videos and images I've seen of YC seem to have people dressed pretty nicely. No one's wearing disney shirts, there's lots of men and women in polos and nice capris, even the families walking back from Epcot seem to have people dressed pretty nicely. This is something I would never do - at Disney or anywhere in the "real" world. I think it is out of place.I'm going to ask this question here because you all are so great: I started to really look at some of the menus that we have ADRs for, we are traveling with my MIL and SIL, so they picked some of the restaurants, for my SILs birthday she picked La Hacienda de San Angel, I don't think there is anything on the menu that my son would eat, is it acceptable to bring in a meal from a different Epcot restaurant with us? Have a great trip.. It was great to meet you Sunday
