When we got to the room we each tried our MBs a few times but they didn't work.
Frustrating, especially when you think you're going to have to make the trek back to the front desk.
But how happy were you when they all started working???
I don't know if they hadn't activated right away or we were doing it wrong but once they opened the door we didn't have any trouble with the bands the rest of the trip.
That's good.
I haven't read a TR yet with someone having problems with their Magic Bands.
I know a lot of people were complaining when they first rolled out, but maybe they've got the kinks ironed out of them now.
I had made a couple of FPs for the afternoon at Epcot but the boys wanted to go in the pool. I couldn't blame them after the winter we had so that's what we did.
After seeing nothing but snow, melted water would be irresistible.
At the entrance they scan your Magic Band to verify that you are staying at the hotel and give you an orange wrist band for the water slide.
I wonder what they do if you have guests?
There wasn't much of a current so you really have to kick to keep moving. So not all that lazy after all.
Strenuous river.
We were yelled at by the lifeguards on several occasions.
Oh. So you're
that kind of guest, hunh?
went down the slide the wrong way
That one always gets me.
I get "no standing"... but no going down head first or backwards... a little over zealous in the safety department don't you think?
They were both really nervous about trading at first but they warmed up quickly.
Good for them! Did they warm up enough that they'd ask on their own?
I really like that shot!
Then it was time to head over to Beaches and Cream for our dinner reservation.
Colour me jealous!
Probably #1 on my Disney bucket list.
I'm not even sure if it was deliberate but there was a splotch of white paint in the shape of Mickey.
Sure looks authentic... but it's in such an odd spot.
I'm thinking it's a lucky accident?
The No Way Jose was the best part of it. We absolutely destroyed it and nearly fought over every bite.
Good for you guys! I so want one...
Sammy looks like he wants to dive in here:
We left the restaurant and walked over to Epcot for our Illuminations FP.
I love that. Just "walked over". No busses, no boats, no monorail.
It was a beautiful evening and I took some pictures of the beach area and the Boardwalk across the lake:
Beautiful.
I love Aidan's face in this photo. He looks so happy!
Disney will do that, won't it?
You can see the sword Sam purchased at the gift shop.
How many times did he "stab" you with it while calling you a scurvy dog?
I liked this photo because you can see the boats going both directions across the lake.
Good shot!
our first family photo of the trip:
Hey! It's you guys!
I'm not sure how I feel about Memory Maker. I purchased it before the price went up so I paid $149. I tried to get as many photo opportunities as possible. Some of the photographers were better than others but I look at most of the photos and think I could have done better with my camera and I'm not even that good with it.
I knew going in that I'd only want a very few PP shots. So I just bought them a la carte later.
Saved about $100 that way.
But the fact that I can be in the picture is priceless
And that's the draw, right?
But you can ask them to take your photo with your own camera too, ya know.
That's what I did with my Tink visit.
And mine were just as good or better (taken by a nice CM) than the PP ones I saw.
After we got our pictures taken we asked a CM where the Illuminations FP viewing area was.
Where is it? Is it on that island between UK and France?
I think the draw of this FP is the fact that the ground slopes upwards so if you arrive later and get a seat at the back you will still have a good view.
What got me here was the word "seat". Were there seats?
Or do you mean places to sit on the ground?
I didn't have the foresight to bring glow sticks so the boys wanted some toys that lit up.
It was their money so Jamie brought them over to the card and Sammy picked out a sword (of course) and Aidan chose a spinning thing.
"They spent over $330, but they were happy."
I couldn't believe how much heat was coming off that fire in the beginning.
Nice when it's cold out though.
Well, maybe not if it's face-meltingly hot.
Over the week I tried to get shots of all of them, I'm not sure how I did.
I don't know if you got 'em all, but what you got is pretty good.
I also got a photo of the globe in the empty lobby of the Yacht Club:
That sucker's huge!
I'm not sure if I've seen that before.
I thought it would be interesting (for me which means you guys have to suffer through it
)
We were pretty close to what I'd planned for the day.
I'd say you were remarkably close! Almost eerily so.
Are you a fortune teller?
Wait... Shouldn't you be winning my contest?
Or are you being generous and letting someone else win?
Scary boo.
Thanks for the update(s)!
