2015 Magical, Magnificent, Mighty May WISH challenge! All are welcome!

Participants list is updated as of right now! See you all in the a.m.!...................P

Welcome to all the new comers and welcome back to old friends! Great to see so many people signing up for the month!

I had a great start yesterday and was successful in avoiding any late night snacking. Had a reasonable dinner and then closed the kitchen door. I found that just doing that conscious thing of shutting the door and telling myself that this means the kitchen is closed for business, really helped me create a mental barrier in my mind.

I contemplated stepping on the scale this morning as I do feel like I lost some weight. But then decided against it. I am just too afraid that the number will not be what I want to see and then all that positive feeling about my body will turn negative. I am really doing so much better mentally when I don't look at numbers. I am working towards losing weight and while I know that there are things that I could do better (like packing lunches), I am currently doing what I feel is sustainable. I know that if I try to do too much at a time, I will tire out and then fall totally off the wagon. So, I am happy with what I am doing and whatever number the scale tells me does not matter. I know that things are moving in the right direction if I can wear clothes again that did not fit two months ago.

I am still doing the Jillian Michael Body Revolution in a modified way. I think it took me three weeks to get through the first set of exercises which you are supposed to finish after two weeks. I still gained strength by doing it slower, but it did not power me out as it did when I did it to her schedule. So, I think I will keep it up like that. I even got new shoes for it. I used to use old running shoes, but I felt like they never gave me the kind of support that I needed for those exercises. So, I got some that are designed for indoor training. And I have to say that they make things much easier!! I feel like I have far more control.

Happy weekend to all of you!!

PICK something to stick with for EVERY DAY in May and share it here!!

Ok, since you already mentioned it and since it kind of fits with my username, I think I will pick flossing every day! :rotfl2:

(And just to be clear, my username does not have anything to do with flossing, but with the village I grew up in which is called Floß - with the special German letter ß which is an s-sound and is transcribed as ss).

Too bad that you aren't doing WW in the US, Magdalene, because here once you hit your lifetime goal your WW would be free as long as you stayed within 2 pounds of your goal weight.

Lisa, it is so great to see you back here!!

I think it is the same rule here. But only for the meetings, not the online tools. That's why I am thinking of joining a meeting in order to get to my lifetime goal there and then be able to continue to do WW for free.

Excellent strategy, Magdalene! :thumbsup2 Things are going well. You look and feel great. Why mess up the mojo with a number that might or might not reflect your efforts at a single moment in time and be a total buzzkill? Nope, nope, nope. :sad2: Set yourself up for success and keep on making great progress! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Yes, here you would get meetings and etools for free as a lifetime member and you only weigh in once a month -- what a great program that lets you use it for free when you are successful! :cool2: Do you have the click to chat feature on your etools? I really like that for those little "emergencies" like oops I have no weekly points left and it's three days before my weigh in. For any food or tracking or ideas they are spot on -- tech support not so much. ;)

I need to go get caught up on your pretrip report. I love your new trip report with Michael chiming in. 174 days until EBPC. :hyper:

Good for you..... makes me wish my kitchen had a door! But I do often tell myself that once I got upstairs for the night that I cannot/should not/will not go back downstairs for food.

Bolded and underlined by me....... that is PERFECT! There is absolutely NO SENSE in trying to make changes that ARE NOT sustainable! That is one reason that things like liquid diets and such are hard to maintain. Sure, you lose the weight.... but you don't learn how to make SUSTAINABLE changes! I feel like DH has the same problem with low carb. Sure, you can eat low carb for a few weeks or months..... but eventually you want a pizza or a bagel or popcorn or a big sweet fruit salad! And if you aren't careful that one splurge can turn into a weekend/week/month of "off program" eating.... and since you haven't learned ANYTHING about portion control (because for the most part the Atkins-style plan doesn't talk about that AT ALL) you can easily gain weight back.

I talked to my WW members this week about cooking more interesting things because NO ONE wants to live on grilled chicken breast, steamed broccoli, and fat-free cottage cheese forever!

Good for you..... it is probably time for me to pull out the 30 Day Shred video.

Happy weekend to all of you!!

Glad to hear you are enjoying click-to-chat..... and I totally agree....WW tech support leaves much to be desired.... but rest assured, they are working on it!

Thanks for the welcome back Pamela :)

Just glad to see you back!!

Hey friends! Happy Saturday! I was up and out the door to drop DS off at SAT testing this morning, then back home for breakfast and now I will put on my yoga pants and get in today's mile before I have to go out again to get him. But first I wanted to post the weekend QOTD!! .....................P

QOTD for Saturday, May 2, 2015:

So William and Kate have had their baby girl! princess: How WONDERFUL! Going on the assumption that they name her "Diana" (which I fully believe they should), what DISNEY PRINCESS middle name should they give her???? After all.... she really IS a princess, so she should have a PRINCESS name, right???

Well I had a bad day yesterday. Did my workout in the morning but then went for some skin biopsies and didn't think it would bother me but it did and I ate some stuff I shouldn't have last night.

Flossbolna I wish I had a door on my kitchen because that is a great idea.

pjlla that would be great if they named her Diana.

Flossbolna I wish I had a door on my kitchen because that is a great idea.

What about just putting a chair into the entrance way? That would create some visual barrier and remind you that the kitchen is "closed".

what DISNEY PRINCESS middle name should they give her???? After all.... she really IS a princess, so she should have a PRINCESS name, right???

I would say Jasmine. But for pure practical reasons: It is the only one that I consider halfway usable as a real name. ;)

Pam, you commented on my comment that I try to do what I think is sustainable for me. I think I mentioned the friend who is currently in a program at our local hospital for weight loss. They are starting with three months of formula diet. But then they spend 9 (!) months of the program afterwards on learning how to eat correctly afterwards. Obviously medical professionals think that this is the time it takes to really train yourself into new habits. I saw him today for the first time since he started. He has lost over 25 pounds in a month! He looks really great.

Excellent strategy, Magdalene! :thumbsup2 Things are going well. You look and feel great. Why mess up the mojo with a number that might or might not reflect your efforts at a single moment in time and be a total buzzkill? Thanks! It is really strange how I turned from a daily scale visitor to ignoring the scale from one day to the other...

I need to go get caught up on your pretrip report. I love your new trip report with Michael chiming in. 174 days until EBPC. :hyper:

Oh, I don't have a pretrial report?! But I am glad that you enjoy Michael chiming in. I find that his style sometimes can be very direct, more so than it is common here on the DIS. But that is his character and I am not going to ask him to change his style. :goodvibes

I think Belle would be a lovely princess name so that she could not only lose herself in a book ( I bet even princesses want to dream of other worlds sometimes) but also because she would gain an understanding of others lives and see beyond their physical form to the beauty underneath their skin and that can only be a good thing!

Prayers for good results from the biopsies...... let us know when you hear anything.

I think it would be so nice.... but honestly, I think the best we might get is Diana as a middle name.

What about just putting a chair into the entrance way? That would create some visual barrier and remind you that the kitchen is "closed".

I've thought about putting a string across the entrance with a "closed" sign hanging from it! Or even just putting a sign on the counter where I would see it as soon as I walked in...."Kitchen is Closed!"

I would say Jasmine. But for pure practical reasons: It is the only one that I consider halfway usable as a real name. ;)

It is a little more mainstream than Ariel or Merida.

I honestly think that that is the ONLY way that one of those rapid weight loss diets would work.... if you were able to lose SOME weight to get you moving in the right direction and THEN join a support type system (like WW ;) ) to teach you how to eat REAL FOOD in the REAL WORLD with REAL challenges and struggles. Glad your friend is having success!

Thanks! It is really strange how I turned from a daily scale visitor to ignoring the scale from one day to the other...

I would LOVE to read your trip reports.... and I think I've read one.... but I get SO caught up over on the TR board and it gets to be a HUGE time sucker!

Well said!!

I am going with Aurora. Diana Aurora has a royal ring to it. LOL:flower:

You are so right!!

************************************

Hey all! I've done my walk, hung out two loads of laundry, driven DS to and from SAT testing, made lunch, emptied all the house trash and sorted recycling and gone to the dump, and now I need to decide what we are having for dinner because we are leaving at 3:30 to take DS to the new Avengers movie and won't be home until about 6:45. Wish I had thought of it this morning and I could have thrown something into the crockpot, but I think it is too late for that now.

I PLAN to bring along a seltzer and some homemade popcorn and leave it at that as far as movie treats go. I'll let you know how successful I am with that plan.

BBL tonight or in the morning to say hello!..........................P

but I get SO caught up over on the TR board and it gets to be a HUGE time sucker!

Oh, I understand!!! :goodvibes All my trip report friends are constantly behind on all the threads they follow and then one is busy writing one owns TRs! If you ever feel like reading one of mine, they all are linked in my signature and come with handy links (the newest one does not have links yet as there are some issues with the new software). I like going to the TR sections and find one to read when I am sick at home and daytime TV is just too lousy and I don't have the energy to focus on a good book! Makes very nice easy reading. Especially since I got an iPad and can read in bed... :thumbsup2

Have fun with the Avengers, I going to see it with my girlfriends on Monday (including a visit to a pizza place beforehand.:scared1: I am already saving my weekly extra for that!).

Pjilla...my son took SATs today too. I did the closet changeover from winter to summer. FINALLY!

Back again for May. =) Going to try to join the losers this month, I put on a couple of spare pounds over April (hopefully water weight) that I'd like off again.

I would LOVE to read your trip reports.... and I think I've read one.... but I get SO caught up over on the TR board and it gets to be a HUGE time sucker!

I so agree about the TR board being a huge time suck. I love lurking there when I'm on call at night, I can read through them for hours.

Enjoy Avengers! Let us know how it is!

So yesterday marked one year to the day since I first walked through the door to my gym. At that point I was a walking medical disaster- IBS, plantar's fasciitis, migraines, maaaaaybe verging on depression- and I was exhausted with living that way. It certainly isn't an easy change to make (as everyone here knows), but looking back it just blows my mind what a difference a year can make physically and emotionally. Pretty much all of my medical issues have cleared up, minus the plantar's if I'm not careful, and I just feel more... human, I guess? It's weird. Anyways, last month was the worst month I've had since I started as far as eating/being lazy goes, but you guys helped me push through. =) Hoping for a great May!

Hi everyone. I think it is time I come back. The last year has been a whirlwind. It has been about a year since my dad died. It was thesame day I was named Teacher of the Year. Iwent back to school in Sept with my mind made up that this would be my last year. After 38 years I think it is time to leave. I have spent all those years in the same building. I also hit 60 in 4 weeks. It is time to move on. This past Feb my father in law passed away in his sleep so I havebeen watching dh doing a great deal of things forhis mother including spending all day Friday with her.

My AP students take their test on Tuesday and that makes the rest of the year easier.

I just booked a trip with dh and a couple of friends for October to Disney World. We will be celebrate my retirement and our 60th birthdays. Dh will turn 60 when we are down there.

I do want to set a couple of goals for the month. My eating has been getting better in the last couple of months. My biggest goal is getting back to working out. My weekly yoga class ended 2 weeks ago when the instructor couldn't fit it into her schedule any more. I do get a daily walk most days with our dog but I need more.

Will try to get back tomorrow.

I'm not so sure that Diana will be anywhere in her name but they could surprise us all -- I think it's more likely Elizabeth will be in her name somewhere. And who can believe how wonderful Kate looked a few hours after giving birth and going home the same day? princess:

But it sounds like a great thing for you! :cool2:

LOL, I think it is fun to have differing points of view. :thumbsup2 I guess I'll just have to wait for the TR on this next trip. ;)

:welcome: back, Dona! So nice to see you! Sorry for your losses over the last year. It sounds like you and DH are all ready for the exciting next chapter in your lives together.

I'm here!!!!!!!!
I need to be back in, my eating habits have tanked since Christmas and my weight has skyrocketed.
So my goal for May is 5 pounds.
My daily challenge is squats every day and 75 miles by the end of the month.

:welcome: back, Buffy! We've missed you, too. Sounds like some great goals for the month. Hope your crew is doing well.
