Disney's PORT ORLEANS RIVERSIDE RESORT Information & Questions

How noisy are the pool view Royal Rooms? We'd requested garden view, but when our TA entered a RO discount code, we were switched to pool view. Does it make a big difference?

If, like me, you're visiting POR at a time that FD isn't available, there's still hope. We received a room-only discount UOC through an email today and my travel agent was able to apply it to our trip in October. Hope the fairy dust sprinkles down on others who can use it too!

Pool View Royal Rooms are a great location with really easy access for the main buildings and the bus stops. The quiet pools are nowhere near as busy or noisy as the main pool (there's a clue in the name in fact). You'll be fine,

Andre

Thanks! That's what I thought, but I read something tonight that said the opposite.

See the floorplans on my website for details of which room categories are located where around the resort. Standard rooms are shown as white.

I just came to ask this question. Garden or pool view royal room? It would only be for 2 nights then we would move to a standard room. We have. FD BB at pop but if we upgrade it is only 150.00 more to move to a moderate for the 14 nights we are on the package.

So excited..arriving on Sunday! I faxed a room request to them. I shouldnt expect anew email it phone call confirming from them should I?

Thanks!

I am sorry--can you send me specific link of this..I can't seem to find this! :worship:

We are a family of 5 booked for a pool view room but I'm pretty sure it is not in the preferred section. We can do our online check in now...would you say building 16 would be a good building to request. We don't mind walking but I figure better to see what we can get than not trying at all. I also think 2nd floor gives us a little more privacy!

This will be our first time staying in POR (or any moderate for that matter) this September. When my TA re-booked us to get the FD offer, she had to book us in a preferred room. We will be in AB since we have 5 in our party.

We usually stay at POP and in the past few trips have been lucky enough to have our room ready for us when we got there. We drive through the night and get there very early (around 6:00-7:00am). Yes, we are "those" people. :-) The last trip (2012) we got something from Disney a couple of weeks before our vacation asking for any requests that we may have and being able to get in our room early was one of those.

Is this something that is specific to POP, was it something that only random people get? Anyone have any luck with getting into their rooms early at POR?

Thanks in advance! This board is so GREAT! :lovestruc

Last question...to request a specific building, do you need to call? Didn't see anything online to make that request.

We are booked at POR this fall with FD :flower1:
Just wondering about a specific room request.
During out last visit last year, we booked garden view and were lucky enough to get upgraded to a RR after I sent in a room request that couldn't be met.
Now fast forward to this year, We booked a garden view RR under FD. Partly because it was all that was left :rotfl:and also because we enjoyed our upgraded room so much last time.
If I were to request the exact specific room we stayed in (I have the room number), what are the chances that will be met?
We have paid for it, I'm just wondering if they can accommodate exact room number requests.
:thanks:

I'm 90% sure I'm going to book POR today for a November stay. We will be in the AB section since there are 5 of us. How do you manage breakfast in the room (to save time and money)? Previously, we rented dvc points and had access to a full kitchen with dishes and cutlery and a toaster. How do you do it without those things?

Thanks!
We usually have just have cereal, but this year we're going to bring a toaster. I'm not a fan of the in room coffee makers so I'll put the toaster where the coffee maker is. This way we can toast bagels or english muffins.

There's always a chance. Our room was ready when we checked in at 9:00 am in December. Wouldn't hurt to let them know that you will be an early arrival.

Spoke to a nice Disney Agent today and she told me that there were no offers for standard views for the FD package anyway. .

They are in the Accommodation Building Floorplan Maps page.

We are a family of 5 booked for a pool view room but I'm pretty sure it is not in the preferred section.

There are also six Pool View rooms in building 18 (see the maps which I referred to above) which you can try to request if you want. That's a great location if you can get it. Put 16 and 17 down as your second choices.

Any advantage to a corner room in AB?

Yes, they have two windows, which tends to give a bit more light into the room and makes it feel more airy (plus giving you two views).

Last question...to request a specific building, do you need to call? Didn't see anything online to make that request.

See http://www.portorleans.org/room-requests.php for details of how to make special requests. The best way is to have it added to your booking notes, and then send a confirmation fax 3-5 days before your arrival.

If I were to request the exact specific room we stayed in (I have the room number), what are the chances that will be met?

Basically, what have you got to lose? Explain that you loved that room on your previous visit and would like to be located somewhere as close to it as possible to it if they can't give you the exact same room. Hope it works out for you.
