Similar Dates for us (April 16-24)...We decided to move our trip up to take advantage of our little one still being 2. We'll be trying to minimize the amount of days that our oldest misses now that we will not be homeschooling her so April Vacation it is! It'll be our first and only trip of 1 room at a Value. (either All Star Movies or Pop....the kids would love the Lady and Tramp statues)

I checked out both of your ptr's! Coloredimage-this is so funny. I also live in MA and I'm also a teacher-hence traveling on April break. I teach k and live in western mass. Are you driving or flying?

Oh wow, small world! lol. I'm right smack-dab in the middle of Central MA (seriously - I live 5 minutes from the geographic center of the state). Right now our plan is to fly, but it depends on flights. My best friend and Disney companion lives conveniently close to Logan which has its advantages, and we've both semi-vowed to never drive down again. (Of course - never say never, and we drove down in my standard Beetle that only I could drive two days before NYE so that year was bad planning on our part).

What about you, do you plan to fly or drive?

I'm torn. We would save a lot driving but the thought of 24+ hrs in the car with my kids is a little scary for me. So I guess we aren't sure yet. We live 20 mins from Bradley though so if we do fly it will be out of Hartford.

I can hardly think about anything else. I am soooo excited!!!

We're driving. We live 10 minutes from TF Green, but it's so much cheaper to drive with 5 people. The idea of lugging my toddler's carseat on a plane is painful.
My kids love road trips though, back when my sister lived in White Plains NY, they used to go visit her all the time. (She lives in Tampa now...that's not doable for a weekend lol)

Not a teacher here but a stay at home Mom...although I do homeschool. (My daughter is going to middle school this upcoming school year)

Hello fellow MA people! I'm glad I found this thread. I was hoping to get some advice about next April. My daughter will be in 2nd, and I'm not opposed to her missing some school for our trip, so our dates are flexible. Do you have any idea what flights might be like at that time? I am wondering if we go Wed, 4/13 (before break) to Wed, 4/20 (during break), what that might be like. I am flexible around flight costs and hotel deals, but of course, we all know we need dates picked at booked 6 months out.
Any advice on how to approach this? I am open to going early May also.

Welcome! I don't know off the top of my head about prices, since I haven't gone in April in about 4 years. I can ask my dad when I see him (probably Saturday) about how much it was to go this past March (prices should be similar) to give a rough estimate. They went out through Bradley this year I think. I know it may not be optimal with a 2nd grader but one of the things I tend to like to do is to get flights out early morning, around 6-ish, and then come home in the evening around or after 8, when prices are slightly cheaper.

Bradley can be a lot cheaper than Logan for sure! I haven't done a long road trip with kids but I know from experience I'm not a 24+ hour road trip type of person (I'm driving to South Carolina this summer and as much as I love road trips I'm so not looking forward to it either lol). Keep the excitement up! I know I'm ridiculously excited about my April trip - probably more than my other trips this summer!

I live in Coventry but other then my neighborhood, don't know many people off-island.

We have 5 people too so flights will cost a fortune. But if we have to stay off property we will have to spend money on a rental car too, so that will likely effect our decision. My daughters will be 9, 4, and 2. I worry about the kids stamina for the car trip. I've driven there several times myself, and in my experience the ride there is ok, but the ride home is pretty rough.

I looked at prices to fly from Bradley to Orlando this April, and for 5 of us on southwest it was going to cost roughly $1200

we will be back also in April 2016! We just got back saturday from our 9 day trip... post disney blues going on now. We probably will stay at a value, deciding between POP or ASMO which we have stayed at both. We have been going in april for years now. Happy planning to all!

Oh also we fly out of BDL, and this year we paid 1,300 for 4 of us on Jetblue nonstop flights. next year we are looking at 15-22nd.
