Disney Gift Cards From Target

sorry if this has been answered somewhere else I've been looking all over: I have heard there is a limit to the number of discounted target gift cards you can get, but how do you get past the limit? when can you order another batch? how did you do it?

Are you asking about mail ordering Disney Gift Cards from Target? The most common discount you hear about is folks that purchase the Gift Cards using Target's REDcard, which gives a 5% discount. I just check on Target.com and it said that the maximum gift cards that could be ordered was eight (8). I don't know when you can order another set of 8.

If purchasing in store, the only limits are those imposed by the bank issuing the debit or credit card. Those are daily limits so you can return the next day, if you like. My understanding is that the daily limit on newly issued Redcards can be pretty low. Is your Redcard relatively new? This is all based on my research, not practical experience, as I have never purchased more than $300 in Disney gift cards at one time. Try calling Redcard and asking what your personal limit is?

Wow I didn't know there was a limit. For one trip I accumulated $2000 worth of Disney cards with my RED card by buying a few every few weeks.

Let me make sure I get this straight.

If I need $1600 for disney park tickets I can essentially buy disney gift cards equalling said value for about $1520 correct?

By the way, if you happen to have Target gift cards, of which you may be able to get at a discount themselves elsewhere (or through swagbucks, etc) you can use them to buy the Disney cards online, and as long as you bill a penny or more to your Redcard you still get the 5% off them all. This is how I have paid for my AP. All Swagbucks. Also for awhile I was getting Ebates or others cashback for them as well, but lately it hasn't shown up at all. Not sure if it is delayed or ended.

Ok, there is not limit to how many you can have, there is a limit to how many you can buy and it is not just at the time of purchase. I got a very nasty letter from target about this.
First there are two different red cards.
1) is a credit card, so you have a limit, at first it is $200 and then they may have it go up some, mine is now up to $600. After three years.
2) there is a red card that is linked to your debit card, I do not have this type.

I was going to Disney and started buying cards, this was back when it was $200 red card limit. I bought $200 and went over and paid it off. Three days or so later bought $200 and went and paid it off. A week later bought $200 and paid it off, and then three days later did it again. You get the drift.

Supposedly this is illegal to do according to target and you will get a nasty letter from them. My understanding from the nasty letter is the red card I have not linked to my debit card, is a credit card, you can not purchase more than your credit limit in any month even if you pay it off and start again.

Of course, I am still doing it when I have to, and they still send me a nasty letter every time I do, but they have never done anything more about it. I try harder not to do it as much, which is a little easier now that I have a limit of $600. But I went in jan so from dec to jan I purchased $1200. I am going again in April, so I purchased, $300 in feb, and another $400 last week, so I have been over for 4 months in a row so I should be getting my nasty letter soon. I will buy at least $200 more before I go. But now I need $3000 for August when we go so I am going to be over again by $200 every month until August.

They constantly tell me to link it to my credit card, but I don't want to. They need to up my credit limit, they have the evidence that I pay my bills on time and never leave a balance so up it to let me buy as much as I want. But then again, I may go to Disney to much them.

I've even bought them with all gift cards after starting the transaction with my red card, and then adding a gift card in as a payment method, and still gotten the 5% discount. They do limit to 8 cards online (at least for me) per transaction. Ebates doesn't currently give cash back on gift card purchases, unfortunately.

I haven't experienced any problem with credit limits limiting my purchases, but I think I must have a higher credit limit on my card than DG24 does.

It will be exactly $1520 that you will pay.

We have the Red Card/Credit Card, and purchased $1600 at one time in store, no issue.

There is a limit at Disney for usage of gift cards online/over the phone (unsure of this, haven't experienced limit, but CM shared this with us, most likey YMMV), and no limit at box office at parks.

The Target Debit Red Card is linked to your checking account.
Like maaan, reading that one post just gave me a major headache! lmao! :faint: No, really! Good grief!

I am planning to buy a few Disney gift cards with my Target Red Card. I am trying to estimate much $$ we'll need. Our park tickets are purchased, and we're staying off site. So we would mostly be using the gift cards to pay for food and a few small souvenirs. I have read that the food carts do not accept gift cards. Any other places that do not accept gift cards?

If it is a Disney gift card, then from churro carts to pop corn carts, the card will be accepted. Normally, any food cart where a debit or credit card may be swiped, the Disney Gift Card is accepted.

After buying way too many gift cards for potential dining, we found that most restaurants at Downtown Disney do not accept Disney gift cards. We assumed this for a few but it's most. :(

As the PPs have said, most of the in-park food kiosks accept gift cards. Some of the free roaming "locations" (like the CMs that sell bottled water in the ride lines) are cash only. Likewise, the balloon sellers are cash only, as are the coin press machines. The Disney-owned locations in DTD (e.g., World of Disney, D-Street, etc.) will accept gift cards, but the third-party retailers and restaurants mostly do not.

You can no longer get the discount online. You will have to buy the GC in store now.

That's not true. I got the 5% Redcard discount on my order last week. I ordered 2 Disney gift cards, paid with Target gift cards, but had my Redcard as my default form of payment so I still got the 5% off. It's an even better deal because I bought the Target gift cards from Raise at 4% off.

I have the red debit card from target and when I first opened my card there was a small limit & after that it increased. To how much I'm not sure as I haven't had any trouble buying anything including Disney gift cards and getting the 5% discount. I just buy them little by little, not all at once like others have.
