Oh Florida! An East Meets West Girl's TR: 8/9 p56 & 8/17 p57

Great updates! Love all the pics of the HM. I'm excited to ride it again this trip, as I haven't made it there in a few trips.

Thanks for the reminders about BoG - I need to get our orders in and I'd like to try to sit near that snow window (though we've seen too much of the real thing...)

I'm not a spa person either. I did have a nice massage once that was a gift/prize, but otherwise I just have other things I'd rather spend my money on.

Cynthia - I hope you are having a fabulous time at Aulani! Love that place! :cloud9:

Nice updates ladies! I can't figure out how to quote pictures on this tab but I just had to laugh at the pic of MK opening of Mary Poppins next to Stitch. Somehow her Royal Politeness just doesn't fit with the rudest character on the planet!
Loved the view you had at CRT! SO HAPPY FOR YOU!

Lovely pics from SSR! I have to admit it is our home resort, it's where we stay, and I have never been to the spa or set foot in Turf Club. We are always about go! go! go! and just use it for a hotel. This trip DS requested some down time to enjoy the resort. Maybe I'll get to see some of these gems!

Aloha Cynthia!!

I posted this one on Facebook with a “Where am I?” question. I have to say that I stumped quite a few people.

Rub it in, why dontcha.

All I can say is “NO FAIR!"

Hey, some of us only get to WDW once every few years. It's all relative.

In case you were wondering - the quiche was good, but salad right out of the bag with nothing on it but a little dressing….well - not exactly my favorite. Just sayin!

Looks like a pile of leaves to me. No thanks.

So at this point I’m sort of torn as to whether to finish out the day or stop.

Hmmmmmm…..

OK, well twist my arm. Let’s finish out more of the day, shall we? Why not?

Sure, keep the momentum going!

To be honest, I’m not a huge spa person. I know people love it, and maybe its my age, but I always think of it as something non-essential. When I was a teenager and young adult people just didn’t go to the “spa”. People didn’t have manicures and pedicures. If they did, they had a huge amount of expendable income. It just wasn’t something that “regular” people did on a regular basis. Now its pretty much routine, but somewhere along the line I just never came along with this trend.

I think, being a guy, I still don't really get it. I mean, anyone can enjoy a nice back rub. But...that's about as far as I can see.

And the amazing hot tub that we didn’t use, but it looked so nice.

Ok, I'd probably use the hot tub.

We were close to the Turf Club and would we find some other dining establishment to catch our fancy?

I have heard good things about the Turf Club!

I have a BOG adr for lunch in June and looking forward to it. Not sure what I'll order yet, probably the roast beef sammich.

I was going for an artsy shot.
It worked! :thumbsup2

I posted this one on Facebook with a “Where am I?” question. I have to say that I stumped quite a few people.
That one could be a little bit tricky. I'm not sure if you're referring to the hat or the fish. The hat, I think I could get easily. The fish could be a lot tougher.

And once again we were immediately envious of THESE people.
They suck.

Seriously? They are having WAY too much fun!
::yes:: It works. They're smiling. Just open the ride for crying out loud!!!

I have to admit - I like how they convert the restaurant from QS to TS. That took a bit of preplanning.
::yes:: I really like how they do the QS meals there too. So much more relaxing than looking around for a table while balancing a tray full of food.

We did get a glass of wine with our promotion, so after we changed into our robes we sipped some wine. Ahhhhh.
Spa and wine. Well that ought to be relaxing, anyway.

I was most interested in his training. You know, being in health care and having a scientific mind, I really wanted to get a sense as to whether reflexology is bunk or actually based in science.

I am still undecided.
:rotfl2::rotfl::lmao:

But my massage guy did tell me to stay well hydrated because he had released a lot of toxins into my blood stream. Yeah - not sure if I buy that either.
This is why I would never be able to go to a spa. One, I wouldn't relax with a total stranger there doing their thing. And second, there is no way I'd be able to refrain from laughing or making a sarcastic comment when I heard that. :rotfl:

Awesome pictures on the Haunted Mansion, Mary Ellen.

I'm looking forward to trying lunch at BOG in July with the girls (we've only ever done dinner).

I always love your ballooon pictures. :goodvibes

I'm a "spa" girl (in fact, I just treated Alisha and Mark to massages yesterday). A friend got me started on my nails; then they talked me into a pedicure at one point which I thought I would hate because I don't really like my feet being touched. Now I can't live without my every two week appointment for my nails and I usually go about every six or eight weeks for my pedicure. And I do love my massages...they feel so good.

I'm glad you had an enjoyable spa afternoon with Cynthia, followed by some wine and peacefulness.

Great updates! Love all the pics of the HM. I'm excited to ride it again this trip, as I haven't made it there in a few trips.

Thanks! It's such a great ride. I always say I'm not going to take pictures, but then I can't help myself. It's a disease I tell you! :rotfl2:

Thanks for the reminders about BoG - I need to get our orders in and I'd like to try to sit near that snow window (though we've seen too much of the real thing...)

:rotfl: Isn't THAT the truth. No one who lives in a snow region is very anxious to sit next to THAT window for a long, long time!

I'm not a spa person either. I did have a nice massage once that was a gift/prize, but otherwise I just have other things I'd rather spend my money on.

That's definitely part of it for me. I can always think of something else to spend the money on, but it was a nice treat and I appreciated it more on a girl's trip. I know Denny would never go for a spa session. EVER. :rotfl2:

Cynthia - I hope you are having a fabulous time at Aulani! Love that place! :cloud9:

My response to that is How could she NOT be having a fabulous time???? She better post lots of pictures here when she gets home.

:rotfl2:
Good point. They really aren't much of a match are they? Polar opposites for sure!

The CRT view was so magical. I know we both absolutely loved it. What a great big sprinkle of pixie dust!

That's the first time I have used the spa, but I have been to the health club on several occasions. It really is a lovely facility. This was also my first time at the Turf Club. It was a nice layout and I would definitely go back in the future.

Aloha Cynthia!!

I bet she is having just a fabulous time and she better share some pics! ::yes::

The spa area looks really great! I LOVE foot massages! And I know I'd love one even more in such a beautiful space. Just lovely.

Reflexology and "de-toxing" are iffy ones to me too. Pseudo-science without much scientific backup is on shaky ground with me, but then again, like you, I wouldn't totally discredit it either. Just would love to see a bit more research before I really buy it. Nonetheless, it feels great!

BOG looks so lovely, but yeah, salad out of a bag is something I'd not expect from there. Bummer! The atmosphere seems spot on, and I can't wait to check it out in person; I imagine it's even more grand than pictures can portray on here. :)

Rub it in, why dontcha.

Sorry!

Hey, some of us only get to WDW once every few years. It's all relative.

Hey, some of us have never been to Disneyland or Hawaii, so its all even. :thumbsup2

Looks like a pile of leaves to me. No thanks.

It does, doesn't it? Yuck! I love salads, but leaves - no thanks!

Sure, keep the momentum going!

:moped: Ok then.......:car:

I think, being a guy, I still don't really get it. I mean, anyone can enjoy a nice back rub. But...that's about as far as I can see.

Well, they are trained so its better than a regular back rub. I think its probably an acquired taste.

Ok, I'd probably use the hot tub.

That hot tub looked really awesome, but we ran out of time.

I have heard good things about the Turf Club!

A friend of mine from work just ate there recently and loved it! ::yes::

I have a BOG adr for lunch in June and looking forward to it. Not sure what I'll order yet, probably the roast beef sammich.
You are going to the world this summer! YAYAYAYAYAY! I know you are going to have a great time and the roast beef sammy definitely sounds like a good pick!

It worked! :thumbsup2

Why Thank you! :goodvibes

That one could be a little bit tricky. I'm not sure if you're referring to the hat or the fish. The hat, I think I could get easily. The fish could be a lot tougher.

It was the fish that I posted and it was a really stumper. I know the hat would have been recognizable. I'm lucky I knew where the fish was from. :rotfl:

They suck.

But not on purpose. They just got really lucky!

::yes:: It works. They're smiling. Just open the ride for crying out loud!!!

I know, right? :faint:

::yes:: I really like how they do the QS meals there too. So much more relaxing than looking around for a table while balancing a tray full of food.

I totally agree with that. I wish more restaurants did QS like that. It was a nice, relaxing meal.

Spa and wine. Well that ought to be relaxing, anyway.

You got THAT right! ::yes::

I am. I mean - how do you prove something like that? :confused3

This is why I would never be able to go to a spa. One, I wouldn't relax with a total stranger there doing their thing. And second, there is no way I'd be able to refrain from laughing or making a sarcastic comment when I heard that. :rotfl:

It was hard to not bust out laughing when he said that. I mean - you rubbed my feet, neck, and shoulders and released enough toxins that I need to rapidly hydrate? Huh? :scratchin

Awesome pictures on the Haunted Mansion, Mary Ellen.

Thanks Kathy! I need to put all my best HM pictures together in one area, then I can add to them every trip. ::yes::

I'm looking forward to trying lunch at BOG in July with the girls (we've only ever done dinner).

Oh, you will all love it. I have NO doubt!

I always love your ballooon pictures. :goodvibes

Thanks! I know we are both major balloon fans! party:

I'm a "spa" girl (in fact, I just treated Alisha and Mark to massages yesterday). A friend got me started on my nails; then they talked me into a pedicure at one point which I thought I would hate because I don't really like my feet being touched. Now I can't live without my every two week appointment for my nails and I usually go about every six or eight weeks for my pedicure. And I do love my massages...they feel so good.

Like I said before - I think its an acquired thing. Probably the more you do it, the more you like it. I can definitely see that happening. I just haven't crossed that bridge yet.

I'm glad you had an enjoyable spa afternoon with Cynthia, followed by some wine and peacefulness.

It was a lovely afternoon. It was perfect for a girl's trip. I really enjoyed it! And who doesn't love wine? :drinking1

The spa area looks really great! I LOVE foot massages! And I know I'd love one even more in such a beautiful space. Just lovely.

It really was nice in there. Very relaxing. No doubt about that.

Reflexology and "de-toxing" are iffy ones to me too. Pseudo-science without much scientific backup is on shaky ground with me, but then again, like you, I wouldn't totally discredit it either. Just would love to see a bit more research before I really buy it. Nonetheless, it feels great!

I believe in complementary medicine and I definitely believe in different types of therapeutic touch, but the whole hook up between different regions of my foot and different body organs. Yeah - not so sure I buy all that. I mean, how can you possibly prove that?

BOG looks so lovely, but yeah, salad out of a bag is something I'd not expect from there. Bummer! The atmosphere seems spot on, and I can't wait to check it out in person; I imagine it's even more grand than pictures can portray on here. :)

The lighting is so difficult in there that you really DO have to experience it for yourself. It is a very unique restaurant. Denny and I ate there again in February, just because we could. It was very enjoyable. I'll probably take a break from it now for awhile.

I think I've got the general location narrowed-down...thanks pkondz and Kathy! (However, I'll be entering World Showcase from my own private International Gateway entrance, thank you very much. :woohoo: ;)

I see you got directions coming from that way as well. DON't MISS IT - If you get a good one it is worth it.

I never get a good shot here and this is proof.

Good one - I only get a black screen ...

I do like this one

Great one!!!!

In my reflexology massage my “guy” (I forget his name) worked on both my neck and my feet. These are my two problem areas. He also worked other areas and explained to me how each area is attached to an organ or body structure. He sort of gave me a quiz at the end of the session, but that’s probably because I kept asking questions. I was most interested in his training. You know, being in health care and having a scientific mind, I really wanted to get a sense as to whether reflexology is bunk or actually based in science.

I am still undecided.

I am with you there- Interested but not so sure. I am supposed to get rid of my allergies with reflexology. I guess I haven't it the right spot yet. :rolleyes1

I have a BOG adr for lunch in June and looking forward to it. Not sure what I'll order yet, probably the roast beef sammich.

I will say the Roast beef sammy is great and big enough to split. However they can do very little alterations to anything. That is why I always get the roast beef. Everything else would need major re-working for me...

I'm sooooooooooo behind, need to find time to catch up and also get going on my own pre trippy.

I really, really like this picture!

::yes::

Nice busts! (Can you say that on a family board?)

I may be watching this scene from eye level, beneath the ride when we are on the class trip. We are doing the class that takes us behind the scenes at Haunted Mansion, although I would rather be doing the one riding Space Mountain with the lights off and then lights on.

Really pretty! I hadn't noticed the banners when I was in the restaurant.

I chose my meal at BOG poorly. Everything on the menu looks great, but I had a large breakfast that morning and wanted something lighter. I got the tuna, and the same meh salad, but I think I would have been happier with quiche or maybe the quinoa salad.

I'm not a spa person either. I have had one massage, at a pretty high end local place and I didn't like it. Is it supposed to hurt?

I have only had a couple of manis/pedis. I like those better, but I'm definitely not a girly-girl.

I don't think I have seen pictures of the Turf Club before. It looks really nice.

:thumbsup2

Playing catch up again. I am with you on massages. I have had one and it was really nice, but it's so not me. Yes, growing up only the really rich seemed to get them. Husbands are for every day people massages! Except my husband hasn't gotten that message yet! hahaha

I see you got directions coming from that way as well. DON't MISS IT - If you get a good one it is worth it.

::yes::

Good one - I only get a black screen ...

I take the lens off autofocus and that helps... and probably explains why its NOT in focus! :rotfl:

Great one!!!!

Thanks! That's definitely my best shot of that ghost.

I am with you there- Interested but not so sure. I am supposed to get rid of my allergies with reflexology. I guess I haven't it the right spot yet. :rolleyes1

So you are actually doing reflexology for your allergies? OK - that's pretty cool. I would love to see if it works. You'll have to keep my posted!

I will say the Roast beef sammy is great and big enough to split. However they can do very little alterations to anything. That is why I always get the roast beef. Everything else would need major re-working for me...

That does sound like a good choice and I definitely like the splitting idea. :thumbsup2 Hey - if something works for you in terms of food you definitely have to stay with it! ::yes::

I'm sooooooooooo behind, need to find time to catch up and also get going on my own pre trippy.

It's tough isn't it? Is this your first visit - if so, Welcome!!!!

Is there a link to your PTR? I need to check it out.

Nice lunch destination. I love BoG but probably won't eat there again for awhile since it switched to ADR reservations. Like Beaches and Cream, I kind of appreciated having a few places I could walk up to and get in with a short wait.

While you might not be a big spa person, at least you can say you tried it. Another item to cross of the Disney bucket list. And, if nothing else, it sounded extremely relaxing. A good break away from the sun and the heat in the parks.
I had to giggle at your foot chart. Not going to lie, someone introduced me to a "baby version" after Landon was born, and I did use it for when he was teething. Whether it actually did anything or it was just in my head is up for debate, but I wanted to try anything and everything to stop the fussiness.

SSR sounds like such a beautiful resort. Your spot from the table where you signed the card looks so relaxing. And it'd be hard to break away from that pool to go to the parks. Glad you and Cynthia were able to take the afternoon enjoy the place. A great way to top off a spa day.

I was a few updates behind but I'm just going to comment on the latest one because I don't have the attention span to remember everything I just read. :rotfl:

Loved the Haunted Mansion pictures! I knew exactly what that fish was because I took a similar photo to post in the "Weird, Odd Disturbing" photos thread.

Lunch looks yummy! I get the carved turkey sandwich at lunch but for me the highlight is always the cupcake. I can't wait to try breakfast next time I go back.

I'm the same way as you are with massages, just not my favorite thing. Last time I had one, I was sore for a week afterwards! I do think it might be fun to try one at Disney though.

I really, really like this picture!

::yes::

Thank you! :goodvibes

Nice busts! (Can you say that on a family board?)

Well, you just did so I think you're OK! :rotfl:

I may be watching this scene from eye level, beneath the ride when we are on the class trip. We are doing the class that takes us behind the scenes at Haunted Mansion, although I would rather be doing the one riding Space Mountain with the lights off and then lights on.

That sounds so cool. I would love to do a behind the scenes tour at the HM. I bet there is really a lot to see. ::yes:: I'm jelly.

Really pretty! I hadn't noticed the banners when I was in the restaurant.

The theme of that restaurant is so fantastic. Love it!

I chose my meal at BOG poorly. Everything on the menu looks great, but I had a large breakfast that morning and wanted something lighter. I got the tuna, and the same meh salad, but I think I would have been happier with quiche or maybe the quinoa salad.

I made my choice the same way because we had that very filling breakfast in the castle. If I had known the salad was going to be so lame I might have picked something else. :confused3

I'm not a spa person either. I have had one massage, at a pretty high end local place and I didn't like it. Is it supposed to hurt?

It definitely can hurt when they are breaking up any spasm, but I don't think its supposed to be really uncomfortable. That does not sound fun. I am sure you won't be going back there.

I have only had a couple of manis/pedis. I like those better, but I'm definitely not a girly-girl.

I hear ya - neither am I. I've gotten more girly as I age, but I'm still pretty much a non girly-girl.

I don't think I have seen pictures of the Turf Club before. It looks really nice.

:thumbsup2

The patio outdoor seating looked very relaxing and the lounge area was lovely. I would definitely go back.

Playing catch up again. I am with you on massages. I have had one and it was really nice, but it's so not me. Yes, growing up only the really rich seemed to get them. Husbands are for every day people massages! Except my husband hasn't gotten that message yet! hahaha

:rotfl2: Well you better send him the memo then! :rotfl2: With daily reminders.

For years I worked with a girl who would always use the comment, "That's for the rich" and I think about that comment whenever I think about a spa session.

Nice lunch destination. I love BoG but probably won't eat there again for awhile since it switched to ADR reservations. Like Beaches and Cream, I kind of appreciated having a few places I could walk up to and get in with a short wait.

I hear ya. Some restaurants just shouldn't be planned in advance. I'm glad we did lunch there but it will probably be awhile until I go there again for lunch.

I'm really glad we went. It was perfect for a girl's trip. And the Reflexology message was definitely a good experience.

Too funny about the baby version of the foot chart. I guess trying it for teething was worth a try. Teething is so miserable for little ones.

SSR sounds like such a beautiful resort. Your spot from the table where you signed the card looks so relaxing. And it'd be hard to break away from that pool to go to the parks. Glad you and Cynthia were able to take the afternoon enjoy the place. A great way to top off a spa day.

I think SSR is really one of the prettiest resorts. I know a lot of people don't like it because its big and its so sprawled, but for a purely aesthetic standpoint its really lovely.

I was a few updates behind but I'm just going to comment on the latest one because I don't have the attention span to remember everything I just read. :rotfl:

I am the same way. No apologies necessary. That's for sure!

Loved the Haunted Mansion pictures! I knew exactly what that fish was because I took a similar photo to post in the "Weird, Odd Disturbing" photos thread.

Really? :rotfl2: That's funny, but so appropriate. I didn't even know there was such a thread. I might have to sub to that just for fun.

Lunch looks yummy! I get the carved turkey sandwich at lunch but for me the highlight is always the cupcake. I can't wait to try breakfast next time I go back.

I've heard that sandwich is really tasty. That's probably what I should have gotten. Not that I didn't like the quiche, because it was yummy. But that salad was just way too disappointing.

I would like to try breakfast. It sounds yummy.

I'm the same way as you are with massages, just not my favorite thing. Last time I had one, I was sore for a week afterwards! I do think it might be fun to try one at Disney though.

For a week? Really? :faint: I guess that goes along with the release of toxins theory. But sheesh. A week???? That's crazy.
