Friends and Family Discount

Mary2e that's me too. I'm good with the 40% room. Right now the dining plan would cost about $1700, I calculated our projected actual dining costs to be about $1400 with the TS, CS, mugs & snacks I know we will purchase. So at this point I'm better out of pocket. But even a 20% off dining plan puts me under my projection. I just have to keep up on it I know my friend won't necessarily be as obsessive about checking as I am! lol

I'm staying at FW, so we actually can and will cook many of our meals, so the dining plan really isn't necessary. If you can believe it, we grill up several days of food in advance. We actually prefer that than dealing with the crowds at the sit downs or eating quick service all the time. When we want to eat out we do signature to avoid some of that. 40% would be great, a discount on the quick service would be better :) How much is the dining plan discount usually?

I used to be a deluxe hotel snob and then tried FW and fell in love with the atmosphere and peace and quiet!

Thanks. That's helpful. It's priced more than I'm willing to pay considering we probably would only eat 1 QS meal a day. We're most likely better off just paying OOP.

Yeah from what I have heard they used to offer much better dining plan discounts. A friend who did the CP a couple years ago was able to get 50% off

That's what my friend said too - she was surprised there was no discount at all. Granted our trip is in June/July so peak season, so I'm still very happy with the 40% room discount. A little bit would be all I needed on dining to make it nudge me over the edge. But if not I'm ok with oop too / I have good adr's & im happy with my choices

Does anyone know if you can apply a Disney Savings Account balance to a F&F reservation? Looking to set one up but just making sure I can actually use it!

Yep I just paid off my room portion of my trip the other day with my disney savings account :)

May I ask how you are able to keep checking? I have a friend who has offered to help me with this but I feel bad asking her to price check and quote me different hotels, dates etc

Once the initial reservation is booked you can call and check or change things on your own.

Gotcha, thanks!!
Exactly - I've checked on my own. I believe if there is actually a special or a discount I have to have the CM call it in or reserve it - but so far no luck abyway. My hopes of a smidge of a dining discount are fading ..

Does anyone have any experience with CM booking (staying in the room with you) during the month of November (actually the 4th -10th). We are hoping to stay at CBR in a room that sleeps 5 but as of right now all the rooms are booked. Also, the rooms at POR are booked. Do they normally open up more rooms for CM booking later? And if so, when do they normally open them up? Just getting worried we may not get a room at CBR in November.
Any insight would be appreciated.
FYI... that week is Jersey Week, we did not realize that before booking our airfare.

They don't really hold stuff back, no. Rooms have limited availability because they're discounted, but the closer you get the more likely more rooms will open up that need filled.

People also cancel and change things around. You'd just need to keep checking. Maybe booking something else just in case and switch if you can.

My friend was able to get us our stay, but no mention of dining plan. I also noticed that while I can call in to change the reservation, I can't do it online.

Am I able to check to see if a dining plan becomes available without bothering my hard-working friend? If so, which number do I call? The one on the confirmation that says cast members or the general reservation number?

You can call either. I usually just recommend the general number.

My friend booked me a 40% discount room for May. Does anyone know if that is the spring offer to CM? Or if we should try calling. Last year when they called we got 50% but it was not available online.

40% friends and family is the normal CM discount, not any kind of additional offer.

Ok this may take a bit of backstory to explain but I'm not sure how else to do it.

My friends daughter will be doing the CP in the fall and me and my friend are already planning to go down to visit with her in October. We're not picky about where we would stay, though we have our preferences, and I believe the daughter might be staying with us so there might be a greater discount... thats not my concern. My concern is this:

I am a ride junkie... as such I like getting all my FP+ planned out. As the daughter will have limited comps I am fine with buying my own set of tickets for the trip and letting my friend (the mom) use the comps. So here is my question. As I am not the one making the reservations or would be the one whose name is on the reservations for the room will there be a way they (either mother or daughter, whoever's name the reservation end up being in) can add me and my MDE account to the reservation so then I can attach the tickets I buy seperately to that reservation and can then make all my FP+ rezzies?

(Did that make sense?)
