2015 Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend ** Check-In ** May 7-10, 2015

Hi...Remember me, we met in the meet and greet Tinker Bell line. You were with your daughter and I had my son with me. We bonded over our torn meniscus and knee surgeries. Hope to run into you again. Are you going to the meet up ??
I'm so sorry about your sister. It sucks when people just don't get the importance preparing for your race and supporting you in trying to reach your goal. But at least you did get your run in !!! Just try and hang in there. During your taper runs....would be a great time to get your daughter out there.

I'm getting worried to about the challenge. Remember, it's just as much as a mental game as physical.
:tinker:Happy Birthday tomorrow!!!!:cake:

Yes! I do remember you and your son. I am so happy you are going for the challenge. You can do it and I will be cheering you on. The meet? Thanks for the birthday wishes.

Co-worker does the Boston. She finished in 2:56:44. So many inspiring stories from yesterday. It was fun to watch!

I was not in good shape last night. I didn't get my steps and water in like I usually do - both yesterday and Sunday. I arrived home from work yesterday with swollen ankles. Bottom line, I did go out and push myself to do 3 miles. Once I got out there bounding the pavement I felt okay.

Hope your having a great Birthday!! Great job getting out there yesterday...sometimes getting out the door is harder than the miles.
Meet-up info
2:30 pm Saturday
Tangaroa Terrace & Trader Sam's Enchanted Tiki Bar @ the Disneyland Hotel

Hope you will go, it will be nice to see you there !!!!

Forgot to post on here that I'm in for the PDC as well. Did Dopey in January, so I'm looking forward to 4 additional medals. :yay:.10k,1/2,PDC,C2C
This will make 10 Disney Medals on the year and 6 non Disney medals on the year thus far With 6 more races planned before Christmas including Wine and Dine and Jingle Jungle 5K. By the new year I'm hoping not to be :crutches:.....

We are all so different it is interesting I can not wear Nike shoes ankle, shin, knee pain try several different models. Everyone's body's are so different. I hate it when they redesign shoes oh well I am happy now. I complained so hard about my Prophecy's new design and they did not last . I only got about 350 km on them the pair before these I got about 700 km. The Mizuno rep sent me a new pair of the newest model they are better.! Great customer service! I don't know how long they will last to still to new. I change my shoes about every 4 months. I'm not fast, just a running fool, smiling every mile!
I shifted back to my Nike's for my run on Saturday and things seem to be improving. Unfortunately, two months including two races and several long training runs before figuring out the problem means that it's going to take a bit to heal up. I'm limiting myself to 3-5 miles for now. My psoas of all things seems to be taking the longest to get over itself, which is not helped by the fact that I sit all day at work. Oh well, I wasn't planning for a PR anyway...

Honestly, I HATE the training process, it's difficult and painful, but I LOVE the race itself.
Honestly, I kind of enjoy the training. I'm lucky to live in an area with amazing running trails and races nearly every weekend, so there's always something to distract me on the runs, even if that something is many groups of tourists to dodge when I forget and run through the Tidal Basin during Cherry Blossom season. I've been hitting the hills, too because you guys keep reminding me about that overpass...so I'm doing at least one big hill at the end of all my runs now.

I got my 10 mile run in on Saturday, came home and picked up my DD and went out to do 2 miles with her. I ended the day with over 25,000 steps and 14.4 miles on my FitBit One.
Congrats - that's a lot of mileage!

Bottom line with all this is my poor DD is so not ready for even a 5K. She can walk about 2 miles at a 16 min/mile pace. She did run around the track once. She has 16 days to get it together.

I am doing okay with my training - milage and pace, but, I, too am worried that I've not trained enough. I have missed a several week day training sessions. Last year I was so anal about it. I am worried.
So sorry to hear the frustration. It stinks when the person you think is going to be supportive turns around and disappoints you so completely. How old is your DD? If she can walk the 2 miles at 16 min/mile, she should be able to do three, especially if you throw in a jog or intervals, even if they're something like 15 second running, 30 seconds walking.

Thanks for the encouragement ladies. I'll find a way to make it work. Hopefully by then the worst of it will be over. I've been through worse just before a half, so I can do this one too - even if I have to walk it all!
You'll get there and the excitement will carry you through!

Regarding how to distinguish ourselves...maybe we could ask a DISigner to will make an image for us...something like the LGMH with Tinkerbell wings? Then we could just print it on a card to hang on a lanyard or something like that. Just a thought...
Does anyone have something in the W.I.S.H. design? Or even the color? That neon green stands out at the races when people have those singlets on. I may or may not make it - will have mom and the S.O. in tow, so it depends on what they want to do after the 10K.

That's awesome and an incredible time! Congrats to her!! I'd love to do that one, but think I'll have to wait until I'm like 80 to qualify. :rotfl2:

You still ran though! That's always a good thing.

Heads up for Sat goings-on... Someone posted a fb group that they saw they're doing a Tomorrowland red carpet by the theaters Sat and then movie in Tomorrowland. No time or anything but might impact accessibility on that end of DTD.

Oh my.....red carpet and premier on the Saturday just hours before we get to run from the park through DTD to head over to the Red Hat Ladies at the hotel. It doesn't make sense.
We were at the park when one of the POTC movie premiers were happening, it was over the top with the black carpet and set up on the Rivers of America. I can't imagine how this will be handled, since it's race weekend.

It's suppose to be all about Tink runners that weekend. :tinker:
I thought the same thing, it just seems like bad timing. With all the prep work for the 60th and Mothers Day and race weekend... It seems a bit much. Is it bad my 1st thought when I saw it was not oh, George Clooney but oh, how will I get my traditional ESPN prerace meal. Nothing screams runner more. :rotfl:

Has anyone booked a massage at the spa in the Californian? Thinking of booking something after the 10k to keep me on the road. My therapist suggested this . Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions or recommendations on treatments. I am swaying back and fourth looked at the prices, some of them equal the tink purse! I have a bad hip and just got the news that I got an MRI appointment right after the run. I have been waiting forever very happy that maybe questions will finally be answered.

Have any of you regulars stayed at the Anabella before? Do you know if there are safes in the room big enough to hold a laptop? I'm making up my packing list and I'm trying to decide if I want to bring my laptop or not. :) At WDW I do and I don't feel bad just leaving it in the bag in my room, but I'm not sure if I feel comfortable enough to do that anywhere else.

I wonder if we are in the same Facebook group for Tink? I saw it there, too.

We were at DCA when they did the premiere for the Lone Ranger. We saw Johnny Depp and the entire cast! Also, a few Disney Channel stars wandering around. It was pretty fun!

How much more insane will the parks be on Saturday with the premier? Trying to just be positive and go with the flow, but be prepared.

I love Mandara Spa, but if you haven't got an appointment now, call as soon as you can to make one! After a long run, I would ask for a simple Swedish massage, nothing too deep. You want to loosen things up without damaging anything that was stressed on the run. I did short 20 minute massages after the half and full during WDW Marathon weekend and thought it helped a lot. Wish I'd done it after the Shamrock Half before I got into the car for five hours.

Maybe a early lunch won't be too crazy. Pre race rituals are too important to mess with.
When are you heading down? We're leaving on that Wend. mid morning.

Thanks I was looking at the Thai Herbal Poultice Massage . It looks like a treat! But Swedish sound good. I was checking on online booking still room in afternoon for Thai, for Swedish still spots in morning. Will do this even doctor tell me today to get massage in between runs but not deep tissue.

I hope not too crazy. My sister wanted to go there to for a bday dinner so we'll have to see what the schedule looks like and is or isn't able to get to. Although we will be right next to Marri's.... :goodvibes

I'm going down Thurs, I get into LAX at 4:30 or so. Bummed I get there so late and won't have a lot of time in the parks, but I'm hoping w/ DL closing early enough, to close it down and meander out and get some good empty park pics. We're driving back up Sun early afternoon sometime; playing it by ear and seeing how crowded it is and how early my sister wants to get home. Are you guys staying later or home Sun too?

Forgot to mention, people have been posting that NB posted something on their instagram account about new shoes debuting at Tink. No pictures of the design, just an outline. They're doing a picture contest as well to win rD bibs.

Had the poulitice massage last year after Tinkerbell - it was awesome! I should call and try to book another.

Marri's ...I just love them. Planning to have at least two meals there. Remember they even deliver-- love that.
Empty park pics are the best !!!!!
We're staying until late Monday--(well after rush hour) then drive and stay over near the Grapevine. I'm not looking forward to spending that much time in the car but I'm bringing ice packs just in case.

I have a feeling they will be hurrying people along out of the parks the nights it closes early. They are filming a couple of TV shows in the evenings.
