Has anyone decorated their Magic Bands? Please show us the pictures!

My next step is to start mixing the glow paint with other paints to see if 1- it will still glow and 2- if it changes the color of the paint. I'd like to have the glow without the murkiness.

I've already tried this myself. Not with that exact brand but I believe my findings will hold true anyways.

1- Sorry, but no it won't. The other paint seems to cover up the ability for the glow paint to "charge". I did however, Manage to get a thin layer of clear glitter paint over the top and still get a full glow.

2- depends on the paint.

This is how mine turned out:

What type of glow paint did you use? Is the acrylic the best for waterproof and durability?
I can't attest for the durability of acrylic over nail polish but I personally find the acrylic easier to work with. As for the glow paint, I used Deco art Glo in the Dark Dimensional Writer. The bands in the picture have about 4 -5 coats of the stuff. It takes quite a few coats to get it past the murky color stage.

You mentioned that the cast members all said the Sharpies don't hold up -I am guessing that they were not given a seal coat of any kind - Has anyone tried to seal sharpie ink ? Both our sons have used sharpies for their bands so We need to find out how to seal them...THANKS !!!

When are you going? I did a darth vader for my brother in law. I made his finger line up where the Mickey RFID head is so that it looks like Darth is saying "point here" LOL!

I plan to do a Wreck it Ralph theme for my husband, probably with nail polish. I'm thinking bricks on a red magic band. Maybe a HERO medal on one side. I have a vinyl Ralph decal I bought off Etsy a while back.
I love this Darth Vader with the pointing finger! Would you mind sharing where you got it? My husband would LOVE it!

I've used a clear glitter polish on a couple of bands although it's been on top of another nail polish that I wanted to add some sparkle to. I'm not certain how frosty you're looking for but would say if it's just to add a little glitter than use the clear but if it's "frosty" then I'd look for a white glitter polish to take a little edge off the band color and add sparkle. The clear really just adds sparkle.

For my top coat I have both a base coat or a combo top/base that I've used and both have been fine. The reports on sharpies is that they seem to smear when you do a coat over them - I've actually had that happen with deep nail polish colors too. I think a couple people have said if they let the sharpie dry for a day or two they had better results but I've personally just outlined with polish.

Thanks for the Sharpie Advice - was wondering about whether there was a drying time factor involved ! Still looking for more info on sealing Sharpie ink !

I just googled for Darth Vader Banner or star wars banner and then click images. When you find something you like (you could even just use mine in the comment) right click and save as. Then upload it on magic your band.

here's how it turned out:

(No magic bands here yet - our trip isn't til the end of May)

We got a free magic your band offer from David's VCR.

Oh how I wish I was gifted in this area! I love seeing everyone's magicbands and their awesome ideas!

4 phone calls and expedited ticket opened later....still no bands. Not sure why it's called an expedited ticket lol So dh is going to try to find our old bands so I can try to deconstruct them and redecorate for this year. Has anyone tried to do this? How did it work out? When I say this I mean, remove any gems, nail Polish etc.

Definitely use a spray sealer. If you use nail polish, like a top or base coat is may smudge the sharpie.

I love them all! I just need to decide how I want to do ours this trip. Last trip I just used glitter nail polish on mine and my DD. She had a pink band with silver sparkles, and I had a green band ( I think ) and I used several coats of purple glitter polish and had a purple band. :)

Thank You !!! I have some clear acrylic gloss spray left over from a recent project. I will have to find a small part of my band to test it on before Trying it on the others. (( Just had an "oops" yesterday that involved Sharpie marker over base coat that acetone remover just made into a purple smear ! So had to re-do and don't want to have that happen again :( !!! )) Will post final results if all goes well.

Hi! We're super excited to decorate our magic bands, but also slightly nervous :/ lol. Has anyone used nail polish remover on their magic band? Did it cause any discoloration at all?? Thanks! :)
Have been moderately successful with using acetone remover after discovering our blue polish was rather thick after applying it to DH band. Attempted to thin the layers on both mine and his and I think if you are using Q-tips you can smooth it a bit but only really remove a layer if it's only a few layers thick. The real trick is remembering where you left off - and yes starting with a clear base coat and finishing with the same seems to look the best. Still working on ours - will post pics when they done.
