Makeup? Hair? How do you look fly in the summer heat?

I don't wear makeup often and when I do, it's a light touch - BB cream, concealer, eyeshadow, eyeliner.

HOWEVER when it's the summer? Forget it!

But I want to look super awesome in my photos this summer! I am celebrating my graduation and am hoping to get photos with my favorite characters with a graduation Mickey Ears cap. Also I just want to look good in general in photos.. :)

I am probably not going to do full coverage and will do BB/CC cream, but other than that... any suggestions of sweatproof/smudgeproof/waterproof makeup? (Especially in the affordable range...)

Also hair? Any cute ideas?

I know professional stylists still swear by Maybelline waterproof mascara. the bottom line is, no matter what you use its going to run in that heat. Maybe use a light self tanner on your face before you go. It will help conceal minor flaws. Just remember you still need sunscreen.

I usually rely on awesome sunglasses, a cute hat or two, scarves and pins to twist up the hair and lots and lots of gel. Waterproof mascara and eyeliner and tinted lip balm with spf 15.

I recently rediscovered topsy tail and you can do really cute fast updos with those. What about getting hair wraps at one of the stands? My daughter often uses YouTube for idea and tutorials on summer makeup and hairstyles.

Honestly, if you are having a great time and are happy that's going to make you prettier than any amount of make-up. Have fun!

Thanks!

I usually don't wear mascara lol it's kinda bad because I have three tubes of really good mascara, but I just can't stand the feeling of it on my lashes.

And yeah my BB cream has sunscreen. :)

Tinted BB Cream - I love the store brand at Ulta.
E.L.F. Gel Eyeliner stays put all day.
Revlon Colorstay Overtime lipcolor lasts for hours and hours through eating, drinking, talking, even sleeping.

Get something with sunscreen in it or remember to put it on before you apply your makeup!

Makeup- Lip gloss, tinted BB with SPF and eyeliner. Anything else would probably come off in the inevitable mid-afternoon rain.

Hair- I have a bunch of coordinating headbands from 'Sweaty Bands'. They are awesome for mid-day park heat. Not so much for dinner after, we usually take breaks before and change to go out.

This struggle is so real for me. I'd say go with a tinted BB cream with a decent SPF for your needs. Put some pressed powder over it to minimize shine. If you're taking a bag with you, you can use that to touch up throughout the day. I'm to lazy for that, though. I'm a fan of liquid liner over gel or the pencil/kohl kind. If I use the latter, I usually have more smudging after a long day especially if it's hot, but the liquid stays. (I tend to use MAC and Urban Decay products for reference, but have had the same experience with a lot of other brands as well.) I hate having things on my lips so I don't do anything there. I also don't really like waterproof mascara, but it's probably a better choice here. If you use a shadow, make sure you prime first so it'll stay better. Brands don't really matter too much, honestly. Get higher end if you feel fancy and drug store if you're on a budget; it'll look the same. I'd say just make sure your BB cream is good. --If you go on a water ride where you're going to get soaked, don't immediately rub your hands right across your eyes, lol.

You can mostly keep your make-up routine the same just make sure you have sun protection and don't pile on foundation. Eye (and brow) make-up for the most part stays put and everything else will likely quit on you by the time noon rolls around. Accept it, have fun, and you'll look great anyway!

Maybelline makes a great-feeling BB cream with sunscreen.

Covergirl Lash Blast waterproof mascara = the best. Use this alone on the eyes for a simple bright eye look.

Try some cream blush = NYX (found at target or ulta) makes a great one to apply with your fingertips for a glow to your cheeks.

If you want something a little extra for a night out or evenings, liquid eyeliner in a pen-style can make a big difference. Watch tutorials on youtube of how to make a winged eyeliner with a brush-tip pen (the easiest to use). Try Jesse's Girl (CVS) or splurge a little on a good brand from sephora or ulta (I like the Stila eyeliner pen).

If you must wear some face make up (I get blotchy, so I at least wear a BB cream), spritz some Ben Nye face freeze spray. That's what the princesses use to keep their make up on without smearing. I used it for my wedding and it worked like a dream. You can get it on Amazon for $10.

Being in Iowa I have stopped using regular foundation in the summer. I will use a tinted moisturizer.
For disney I plan to do about the same, tinted moisturizer and eye makeup, because I will look like death without my eye makeup!

I swear by Urban Decays eye shadow primer. I'm hoping that saves me. Won't do much for my mascara but oh well.

Ah the joys of getting older, you just don't worry about it. I don't wear any makeup at the parks and if my hair is long it's in a pony tail since I have to wear a hat. If I'm feeling spunky, I'll put on a tinted moisturizer with SPF and some mascara, the only kind I can wear is Cover Girl and I don't have any problems with it running.

Im in the "no pretty pics of me on vacation" camp lol. Hair goes in a ponytailnso i dont sweat to death (i have a lot of hair so wearing it down is not an option) and i dont bother with makeup because it will just run off and i always wear sunglasses anyway even for pics. But i agree with pp that the only thing people will notice in your pics is yoyr excitement and happiness (and maybe jealously that they arent there too!)

Pull your hair back in a ponytail or a cute bun. Wear sunscreen and a minimal amount of makeup because it will just melt off your face. Besides, you are never going to see these people again.

I'm a content manager in the beauty industry and I just HAVE to tell you to make sure you wear a dedicated sunscreen besides just your BB cream. You should be wearing SPF 35 for your face at least. Even if your BB cream is SPF 50, you likely won't be using enough for full sun protection.

Also remember, SPF doesn't build. So wearing a 15 SPF BB Cream and a 15 SPF sunscreen doesn't equal 30 SPF protection. You'd still just have 15 SPF protection. :)

Trust me on the sunscreen. You're young now but sun damage is the number one cause of aging and won't show up for another 10 years.

Also, blotting papers for pictures! You can grab a pack for $1 at Target and use them to dab away shininess right before you take a picture.

For hair, I would suggest an up-do. I fall victim to the frizz and keeping it up helps. But since you wanna do the graduation ears, maybe in a loose side braid if you have long hair. I also use the Tresemme Extreme Control Humidity Resistance spray. It doesn't leave your hair crunchy when it sets, and gives enough bounce and hold to last through the day. It also comes in a travel size which is a plus.

I'm typically a BB cream girl myself, however, I find that it can slip and slide all over my face in the summer months and make me look shiny. I swear by Revlon Colorstay foundation to give me flawless skin that will last all day and keep me naturally matte-ish. I like to fill in my brows a bit, simply because it looks better in photos. Add a bit of waterproof mascara to make your eyes pop! An extra step that will make a huge difference is a setting spray. My favorite are the ones from Urban Decay. Your makeup won't budge!

As for hair, I too recommend a cute updo. The summer heat and humidity will make it miserable to have on your neck, and my hair usually frizzes within an hour of being outside. I like doing side braids or a cute bun.

Hope this helps! :)

Late reply to this but: For heat/humidity/water I HIGHLY recommend a makeup setting spray. There's a ton of different ones out there but the absolute best I've ever used is Model in a Bottle. I've worn it with heavy theater-level makeup in Baltimore in August (so incredible heat/humidity) at the biggest anime convention on the East Coast (so huge crowds) and not had one bit slip, move or slide. My face looked just as good at the end of the day as it did at 8AM. Highly recommend!

all bets were off for me last summer. I rarely wear makeup, but I still tried to maintain some level of grooming during our trip last August. problem is I'm just not built for the heat. by mid-morning it was unusual for me to be without a baseball cap and a frog togg around my neck.

my tip: get your most important photos as early in the day as possible. its when I looked "best" last summer.
