I have been watching a lot of the videos posted and looking at all of the photos taken last night at Trader Sam's Grog Grotto. I looks really impressive and considering the time people spent in line, I hope Disney learns from this. This falls in line with making other options at WDW an attraction for people to be excited about and go experience. Whether it be a restaurant or bar like Be Our Guest or Trader Sam's, or even a merchandise area like Memento Mori or the Co-Op in Disney Springs. It looks like The Boathouse in Disney Springs is going to fall into this mold, allowing for live music, a bar over the water, amphicar rides, the water taxi ride, etc. Hopefully whatever new TS restaurant opens in the Adventureland Veranda follows this line of thinking.

Reminds me of Ollivander's. This shows that Dis management have learned something from Harry Potter Land(s) and Springfield USA. Universal has literally shown them "how to do it". In this case, how to make a super-fun, superbly themed retail outlet and make it pay for itself many times over.

Sure they can make a great case for un-sexy innovations like MagicBands and FP+. But even the dullest beancounter and the most aggressively shareholder-conscious executive is bound to feel embarrassed and ashamed at the artistic success of Harry Potter land.

I assume that they are also feeling embarrassed about the lack (relative to attendance) of exciting, innovative, high-capacity rides. No matter what their wimpy "guest feedback" polls are telling them.

I don't think they are feeling embarrassed at all. I think they are proud that they have maintained gains in attendance without spending a penny at WDW, and rubbing their hands together with how much money they are going to make in their Asian markets. I don't think they grasp how much money they are leaving on the table from guests that feel like WDW is not a good deal for a vacation any longer and won't go, or will go, but not spend as much time there (on property). Lot's of people go to Disney, but spend several days doing other things off property. That is a lot of lost revenue.

Disneys marketing money goes for the people who have never been, they want those once in a lifetime visitors because I they will spend the most and that market is the largest. Return guests don't soend as much as them, those guests are looking to save money on vacations.

Also magicbands are more of a way to lock guests in and try to have them not leave property.

Yeehaw Bob or aka Bob Jackson long time POR river roost lounge performer will start a new gig on his off nights at the Boathouse in DTD. He will be playing on the water taxi that will be part of the new restaurant. The restaurant is scheduled to open April 13th.
