Disney Dream May 4th-8th 2015

Hello to all my new fellow cruisers!!! We are excited for this cruise, it is our first cruise!

That poster has not posted in this thread since early October. I think it would be safe to expect that someone else needs to volunteer to manage the FE for this cruise.

If anyone is interested in doing this, please contact me for some suggestions. :)

I sent you some suggestions about the FE a few days ago. Hopefully you were able to find that message. If you have any other questions, please let me know.

At this time no one is managing a FE for this cruise here on the DIS. :( It would be wonderful if someone is willing to do that! :)

Hi there....not sure if Mereandmark is taking you up on the task of starting a FE for this cruise. I would be willing to do it if you can send me your suggestions.

***Mereandmark - please let me know if you want to do this, don't want to take over if you are planning something :)

Hi all!! We are excited to going on out second cruise, we LOVED our first one:D has an FE list been started? Can we still join? TIA!

I will be sailing on the Dream May 4-8, 2015, with my husband, my son,and his fiance. I am very interested in participating in the Fish Exchange, but have gotten very confused about how to sign up for it. Can somebody please help me get signed up for this?? Thanks so much!

Bonnie

60 days to cruise day :cool1:

Since it looks like no one else is starting the FE I will get the ball rolling! I feel we should probably close the list at 30 days so that only leaves us with a month!!

Please respond to this post with your name cabin number, and if you have children...their names, ages and favourite character.

****Also, if you are comfortable providing it, please provide your last name and the ages of the adults in your party. This is a request only for personalization of FE gifts, not a requirement. Thank you*****

Thanks, and let's have fun :earboy2:

We're excited about the upcoming cruise and are interested in participating in the FE. Typically, how many people participate? I can't seem to find much online about whether it's one family gift, gifts for each family member, a one time or daily exchange. What is expected in this FE?

Welcome KazFam! Thanks for your interest in the FE. The numbers of participants can vary greatly. Usually if a group starts to get to big a second group is started. I think that 10 cabins is a nice number. If someone feels like they want to do more they can always join the second group as well. As for gifts, that's completely up to you. Some people give just a cabin gift, others a cabin gift and then a gift for each child in the cabin, and others still a cabin gift and a gift for each person. The most important thing to remember is to have fun and stay in your budget!

I tried doing a search for an information thread as I'm sure there is one but couldn't find it quickly. I'll post the link if I come across it. If you would like to search again I would suggest using "fish extender" and check off the box for title only.

Hope this answers some of your questions. Ask away if you have more. I've only participated in two other FE exchanges but have learned a lot during those experiences.

That sounds great. (I was a bit intimidated by the whole FE thing. While I know my son would have a lot of fun with it, the only posting I could find about the number of participants was a blog posting, where that person had SIXTY rooms/people participating.) I'll PM you our info.

Sixty!? That's insane! Nope, we'll keep it 10-15 at the most. Not sure how many will be joining anyway as we're getting pretty close to sail away!

Alison and Jay..9546 is the stateroom and Abbey and Hunter are 10 and 12. We would like to join the FE.

I am debating about doing the fish extender (I know I don't have time to order a custom one) what are you guys using?? Hoping to convince DH we can do it without getting a custom one yet.

I'm probably going to order this one from Amazon and decorate it myself. I figure it's cheap enough that if it comes and doesn't look like it'll work I can get something else. For our first time doing the FE, I'm not going to go all out just for the pockets. I'm crafty enough to make it look good...just not crafty enough to sew one myself.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MS3DVLW/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A29HVRENABIQ1E

I've seen a lot of pocket door organizers on Amazon that will work, just make sure they aren't too wide. I've read a post somewhere (can't remember where) that says no more than 11 inches wide. Can someone who isn't a newbie let us know appropriate dimensions? Thanks!

Thank you I really like those. Now hubbie is saying buy a custom. We will see what he says tomorrow tho. (I am afraid a custom will break our budget.) we will decide if we will participate when we figure it out.

I found this really great post on all things FE. Scroll right down to the bottom and it will give you instructions on a no-sew FE!! It also indicates that it can't be wider than 8". For those that would rather purchase, in addition to amazon there are also 4 pocket organizers available at Ikea and Bed Bath and Beyond. A lot of people have been purchasing the 4-pocket nursery (baby) organizer from Walmart. These are all very easy to convert into something special for your family by using fabric markers and/or iron ons. The link below has quite a few photos of various FEs as well.
