Wine and Dine 2015

Does anyone know a rough estimate of when Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party tickets will go on sale? I'm worried since we are trying to go the first night of the party, it will sell out quickly, so I want to be ready.
So far, Disney has said April, but no specific date released.

So I actually got myself back outside to get some running in - first time since Star Wars back in January. Felt pretty good all things considered. I'll stick with the 1:1 intervals for a little while and then start working on getting that run time up. I've got plenty of time to figure it all out. I'm mostly just glad I got myself out there, it's been a rough few months.

I went and looked at the sell-out dates from last year and the first party lasted until roughly 14 days before the event before selling out in 2014 and 7 days before the party in 2013. The early November parties aren't as popular as the ones closer to Christmas, probably because who wants to celebrate Christmas in November (other than me!).

Also, it being on a Sunday helps as well!

I seem to remember last year's party selling out sooner than that.

^This - "certified" in rD-speak means accurately measured. And 99% of the time, if a course has been accurately measured, it's also USATF certified. Not all race orgs advertise this, so it's entirely possible a local race has been USATF measured/certified but that info isn't posted on its website. Worth an inquiry to find out! In my experience, most races don't bother with chip timing if they aren't also certified, measured courses.

Well I checked on the race's website and on the USATF site and couldn't find either of the local 10Ks I'm interested in. So, I'm assuming they aren't certified that I can find. If runD says it must be certified, then I'll contact the race organizers for one last final check.

We are finally warming up here too. Yay!!! We got a good 11-miler in on Saturday getting ready for the Bentonville half in a couple of weeks. It felt so good to run outside again!

I am also wondering about my planned 10k. It is timed and has results online so I hadn't thought about it! If anyone hears from RD please post!

I am also trying to decide where to stay for this. I love, love the epcot area resorts. And with the festival and the after party it would be so convenient. I would like to spend a few hours at the pool before the race. As well as some afternoon breaks during the day (likely arriving Thursday night and staying through Monday). But, I just stayed at BC in Oct. for TOT. So while I adore stormalong bay, I am wondering if I should go with Boardwalk instead to try something new. I believe both of the villas are being refurbed this year, but Boardwalk is cheaper. (I am renting points so this is all subject to availability). My only reservation is that clown. That pool area...I'm just not feeling all that sold on it. lol. Anyone have any thoughts??

Not being familiar with really anything at WDW, least of all resort pools, I had to go see what you were referring to. :scared: That is terrifying!

How that clown does not give little kids nightmares I will never know!

I'm just glad I'm not the only one who thinks so! But my husband would probably like it as he's a fan of those scary clown movies! So maybe for an adults only trip it would be worth it! But those renovated BC rooms are amazing so I really want to stay there! (Although French Quarter is probably much more in my budget!)

Bentonville half is my next race too! My first half! Also looking for a certified 10K and trying not to stress about March 17th. Yes this is my first post :) I have been reading the forum for weeks and finally decided to sign up!

When I tried to get a time for Tink, I found it extremely hard to find *any* 10K within a reasonable nearby distance. I did eventually find two... one was an hour away in November, but I didn't end up doing it because I didn't feel ready to do the distance yet. At least not in a time that would have gotten me qualified for anything. :) The other was a New Year's Day one also about an hour away, and I didn't end up doing that one either because the weather was terrible and I'd been slacking for the entire month of December.

As you are renting points, remember that once the seven month window opens, any DVC member can book the Boardwalk Villas or the Beach Club Villas (subject to availability) and will likely fill up extremely quickly. If there is someone who you know to rent points for a stay at one of these and it is important to you, I would suggest doing so prior to the seven month window opening.

I agree!!! It would certainly give ME nightmares.

Welcome! Glad you decided to start posting. This will be my first time running Bentonville. It was after watching me SIL and BIL run this race together that I decided to start running with my husband. The last 3 miles are all uphill apparently and steep at that, so not looking for a good time, just to survive it. I hope you have a great first half!

The villas also have a quiet pool that we use more than the clown pool. It has it's own hot tub that most people tend to forget about. As far as renting points, I am a DVC BWV member and as of right now, all the studio and 1 bedroom villas are sold out for that weekend. I have a one bedroom reserved right now, but I'm on a waitlist for a studio and hoping that when the 7 month window opens, some more rooms become available.

I am in a training program and we have done hill repeats on that steep hill. It is the worst but I just keep saying to myself you only have to go up it once on race day!

I'm all signed up and ready to run this! It will be my 2nd Wine and Dine race, the first was in 2011 and my first half marathon ever! We are luckily DVC members and own points at BWV and BLT so the first couple of nights we have a studio at BWV so we are nice and close for the race, and then the last few nights we'll move over to BLT.

Miranda....thanks for the RunKeeper tips. I created a few workouts and may try it for my half next weekend.
