Week long cruises, do you do laundry?

Yes, but we tend to take longer cruises. Even when we did the 4 night Dream cruise, it was coupled with 2 days at WDW and a B2B combo (14 nights) on the Fantasy. No way can we pack enough for that, and not do laundry. We find that it really doesn't take time away from enjoying our trip, as we usually do it early in the morning (even on vacation we're early risers). It's no problem to put stuff in the washer, take note of what time we need to be back, go do something, come back, transfer clothes to dryer, again take note of what time we need to be back, and then go do something else (or return to what we were doing).

We sent our wash out to be done. Really not that expensive and time is $ for me....rather spend my time "vacationing" rather than babysitting laundry. For me, compared to the amount I'm spending for the vacation time, the cost of having the laundry done was more than worth it.

I might do laundry only because I tend to pack very lightly. Therefore in order to have clean clothes doing laundry is a necessity but I make sure to do it extremely late in the evening.

I've never done laundry on any cruise. We've taken seven day cruises tagged onto 11 nights at WDW and still brought enough clothes!! I count enough outfits/casual clothes etc and we still manage to bring too much.

I am on vacation too, so I refuse to do laundry on board. That being said, we have always had to send clothes out to be laundered. It's a drop in the bucket to what the trip costs anyway, & we don't want to waste fun time sitting in the room or laundry room.

We've done laundry on one of our four cruises. Wasn't a hassle at all, I think, because few people do it. The laundry room on our deck was a bit of a haul from our room, though. I'm planning on doing laundry on our 7-night coming up in December.

Does anyone know of a floor plan that shows where the laundry facilities are on each floor of the ships? I tried looking at the plans here on the Dis but if they were marked, I coudln't spot them...

TIA.

I've been reading the thread on another forum that says 'pack less pack less pack less pack less'. Take half the clothes you think you'll need. Over and over. But honestly, SO and are both a little weird about clothes, in that we both don't like re-wearing dirty clothes and we like to take a mid-afternoon break when traveling to shower and change. And then clean 'loungewear' for around the hotel room or cabin. I'm not a germaphobe, a fashion icon, or even particularly well-groomed. =D I just hate feeling 'grubby' and my threshold for feeling that way is low.

We ended up doing laundry on a recent 48 hour trip, but to be fair we got rained on extensively.

In short: I will be doing laundry.

I always do laundry. I bring tide pods with me. We pack light and wash midway through our 7 night cruises.
I also bring a pop up laundry bin and drag my clothes to the laundry in it

Yes we have done laundry, especially when we did a 5 night California Coast followed by the 9-night Alaska sailing. But I usually take things that I can wash and then hang up to dry and don't need to put a lot into the dryers. The laundry room was busy all the time when we were on the Alaska sailing.

I really don't like bringing home suitcases filled with stinky, dirty clothes.

I'm with Karlzmom - have sent things out. I'd rather do that and bring fewer clothes. And it is vacation!

I don't plan on doing laundry, but that said I'll probably bring some travel detergent/pods with me just in case. Really it's going to depend which airline we can get on :) You can get away with it, though...probably with older kids. But yeah I plan on working out and I know DH plans on running daily in the morning, so extra clothes or not, that's going to just stink up the room in the August heat/sun if I let that sit for a week.

Whoa, back up... I can pay for someone to do this for me on the ship? Seriously???!?!??!?! That might be worth more to me than the alcohol...might. Where do I find this information?

All the ships, like any good hotel, offer laundry services. There will be a rate card in the room.

I have done laundry on our 7 day cruise. I like having a room close to laundry room so it is really easy to walk over first thing in the morning!

I plan on doing laundry in July as I don't want to have to do once we get home. I won't
do all the laundry only the light colored clothes as I don't have many of them.

A small amount spent on non-alcohol = more time to spend enjoying the alcohol you do buy.....:dogdance:

We have been on 4 DCL cruises to date, ranging from 5-12 days. I have done laundry on each, and the tip i learned is to do it very early, or very late. Absolutely mark the time you need to be back, or risk finding your clothes in a pile on the sorting table. The laundry rooms are kept very clean, but there are far too few for the numbers on board (a common cruise complaint, I've learned). On the up side, DCL lets you swipe your Key to the World Card for the charges, and I image will use the Magic Bands once they convert over. No quarters!

Oh, and yes you can pay to have the ship do your laundry, but I found it very expensive for a family of 4 to even consider this option. Maybe if there was only one piece that needed to be done, but not full loads.

Life is too short to do laundry while on vacation. Unless the cruise is 2 wks or longer, then I do as little as possible.

We did laundry on our 7 night cruise (because we spend additional days traveling its more like a 9 day count for vacation). It was really not too much of a hassle. I just did the necessities needed to get us through a few more days. I did it on a day at sea: put laundry in after dinner, went for a drink, came back and rotated laundry, went for another cocktail, then came back and put it away. I also used the ship's service to press our dress clothes. It really was inexpensive to have them press the clothes so we looked nice :)
