Help me get 6 kids to Disneyland!

Universal Studios I feel is for older kids. There really isn't much for your age group.

If you really have to do Knott's Berry Farm, go there before you go to Disneyland. I had been to Knott's many times and it really wasn't for me, I'm Disney all the way. My grandkids kept wanting to go to Knott's. On our Disney trip when they were 13 and 10, I added a day at Knott's. After 2.5 hours they were asking to go back to Disneyland. They wanted to try Knott's again when they were 19 and 16. Since we were in SoCal for a full week, I bought tickets. Again, they said Disney is the place to be. We were there for about 4 or 5 hours this time. Kids....... Show your AAA membership card and save 30% on Knott’s Berry Farm Regular admission tickets

I'm going to be in the parks later this week. Would you like me to get you some park maps? If you message me your address I'd be happy to mail them to you.

I wish you well with your planning.

Yes, that would be really helpful and I would appreciate that.

Where will you be staying? Knotts is close to DLR, but it's not necessarily close to where you'll be staying.

Each park has their own specific map. I'll get plenty of them while I'm there.
I know when my grandkids were younger they liked to look at the maps so much they would wear them out.

Does anyone know if so cal pricing is during the summer? That would help me with two of the kids going

I notice your screenname is NavyDad. Are you eligble for Disney's military salute tickets? You can get up to 6 of those each year. The best place to get them would be a local ticket office on a military installation. I know those saved us over 1/2 of what tickets cost.

The current so cal offer ends May 21st. Pomona is about 35-40 minutes in good traffic, an hour to an hour 20 at rush hour. Knott's is about the same, maybe 5 more minutes. When deciding total days and adding Knott's, as yourself if you want to do that drive there and back on how many consecutive days. Obviously this answer will be different for everyone. What beach are you thinking of going to? Figure in the driving time for that too. And for airline tickets, you might want to price Ontario, it's closest to Pomona. Unfortunately I can't really think of very many interesting things out there for kids 8-12. There's a true IMAX at Ontario Mills mall that could be fun if the right movie is playing there. Check the schedule for the Pomona Fairplex, there might be something fun during your dates.

The only reason I would go knotts last is because I would want to gauge how brave these kids are before going to Knotts. Most of them are claiming that they will get on everything. I don't want to go there first and find out they are all chickens.
lol. good idea.. bringing chickens to a theme park is not the funnest way to spend the day..

are you in the Navy?? active or retired? they reason I ask because of your name.. Navydad!.. active or retired US force members can get cheaper tickets also.. not sure of the current savings.. WE went one year with a friends niece. we bought the tickets but she showed her ID and we all got the discount..

Would it take too much time out of the day if on DCA day we stepped out to downtown disney to buy dinner?

Get two cases of Dasani Water and bring water into the parks each day. Perhaps adults take two and kids one. They save $3 a piece and they allow us to tour faster. Hydro Guy has some great advice (as always).

For the boys (and girls that are Star wars fans). You can bring a small sign saying use the force, etc... and this is key to getting chosen for Jedi Training. For Disneyland Try Pizza Port. For the ten year old a small draw string backpack might come in handy. Each adult will need a small backpack.

Thought on changing Disneyland to Sunday?

DL Park on a Sunday has the advantage of no grad nights and no EMH. It also has the advantage of lower traffic from Pomona than on weekdays. It has the disadvantage of being a Sunday which does tend to be pretty busy. I would choose that day over your grad night day on June 17. But I would choose Friday over a Sunday if possible. If you can't make it work then go for Sunday.

I guess it depends on where in Downtown Disney you are thinking. It can take 10 min to walk to the other side depending on how fast of walkers they are and how distracted they get from everything else. I would personally just eat in the parks. If you have 1 day for each park you really will want to use every minute you can. There is just so much to do.

From what I got from Way.com you could do this....

3 day 1 park to DL for $1,279.00 for 5 adults and 1 child. Baby is free
Knott's Berry Farm for $189.00 for 5 kids and 1 adult. Baby is free

Total is $1468.00 No additional charges. That is $20 less than what you have listed for only 2 Disney days and 1 Knotts Day

You could also do 4 days in Disney and no Knotts for $1,395 for 1 park a day or $1,635 for hoppers.
Or
4 days in Disney and 1 day in Knotts for $1584 for 1 park a day or $1824 for hoppers.(Prices are for both Disney parks and Knott's combined)

These prices are all from way.com. I hope I didn't make any math mistakes. I would definetely consider doing the 4 Disney days and 1 Knotts or just Disney only.

I appreciate the help but it would be 8 of us. 6 adults 1 child and 1 baby.

I asked because we were thinking about going out to eat since I couldn't find anything to eat but we ended up deciding on Taste Pilots grill

Appreciate everyones help! if was nice telling all the kids they were going today. In the evening they were all Face timing each other with countdown apps and who they were pairing up with to ride the rides. They dont have phones but have ipads, so it was cool to see them face timing.

The hardest part of my day was talking to my brother in laws ex wife. She has primary custody of the kids, so i had to get her permission. The divorce was ugly with a lot of name calling (most are) so I was scared she would say no. At first she did, but I explained and got a little harsh with her. I told her she rather have them home all week bored than going with me. Eventually she gave in and said yes with the exception that their dad wasnt going and that they were going with me..............smh

Oh okay. I thought when it said you would have all the kids that it would be just you and the kids.

Apologies, either way though it does look like we may skip universal for another day at disney. Knotts is the harder sell since most of the kids think they will want to handle big rides.

Will Taste pilots Grill be open? (This is where I would go if it is open)... I would skip DTD for dinner...
