Official 'how to get from point A to point B while at WDW' thread.

Hello all,
Would appreciate your tips on these trips :

-- AKL to DTD (late morning & afternoon). Do they have direct bus in the morning?

Yes.

-- AKL to BCV (late morning). Bus to AK then to BCV, right? I assume bussing to Epcot won't work unless I have ticket.

You could do that, but it would probably be faster to take the bus to DHS and then take the boat or walk to BCV.

-- BCV to CA Grill (evening). Bus to MK, then monorail? Dinner at 9pm, MK opens till 1am that night. So I should be able to reverse my trip afterwards.

It would be faster to walk to the Conemporary, but you can take the monorail if you prefer.

-- BWV to SSR (noon). Bus to DTD then SSR?

Sure. Or you could walk to DHS and take a bus to SSR from there.

-- SSR to Winter Summerland Miniature Golf. I have no idea.

I think there is a Blizzard Beach/Winter Summerland bus from SSR.

I am always confused about using park or DTD or TTC as transit hub. What's the rule?

TIA!

Never use DTD if there is another way. If you want to travel from one resort to another, transfer at whatever open park is on the way.

This thread is great! However, from what I understand, there is no app or website where one can put in current location and destination, click a button and best ways to get to destination and approx walking, bus, etc time would come up? Or do I have to create this app and become a millionaire?

There is one, but it's pretty unreliable.

Early Chef Mickey Reservation: We have a 7:15 AM reservation for Chef Mickey. Magic Kingdom doesn't open until 9 AM. I'm assuming that buses to MK won't start until 8AM. How do we get from Pop Century to Contemporary in time for our reservation? Is going to Downtown Disney and catching a Contemporary Resort bus our only option? Do all these buses run that early? THX.

Buses to MK start around 6:30. And if you want to take the bus, you need to be waiting at the bus stop at 6:30 - you cannot miss that first bus.

Transferring at Downtown Disney is not an option.

I would take a cab. It'll cost around $15 and will save you a lot of stress.

6:30? I thought buses now began running only an hour before a park opened? Disney's only advice was to wait until we arrived and contact Guest Services. Would there be taxis waiting at Pop Century at that time of the morning? If so, perhaps that is what we'll do. Thanks for the tip.

That is the rumor that will not die. Mostly because Disney employees keep repeating it.

There will be taxis waiting just out of sight. Just ask someone from bell services to call one up for you.

And why won't it die? Because its what Disney has on it's official site! I 'think' they do that so they can change it if they choose to!
But yes.....buses do start running by 6:30. But, they tend to run less frequently than regular buses. So, if you arrive at the stop as the MK bus is pulling away, you could be waiting another 20+ mins! With an ADR at 7:15, I would go with the cab. There may be some at Pop, and if not, one can be called for you. I would plan on being out front, at Pop, no later than 6:50.
If you decide on taking the bus, be out at the MK bus stop by 6:20. You can let the driver know you are heading to the CR...he may drop you off there as he leaves MK. If the offer isn't made, you can walk over. The walkway runs beneath the monorail line. Takes less than 10 mins b

Buses TO the park for day guests do start an hour before rope drop. All breakfast buses start at 6:30am. I'm not sure how those stops at a resort are being handled now with the full automation of the bus routing but we used to be able to drop you at a MK resorts for your breakfast.

Now can a day guest get on a breakfast bus, sure. Will they be allowed to enter the park without an ADR, no.

Is there a good reason why Disney won't update this information on its site? Do they NOT want resort guests using those buses?

There are so many inaccuracies on the website that the only explanation I can come up with is that they just don't want to go to the trouble of making sure that everything is correct.

Ok, but......you say buses to the parks, for day guests, start an hour prior to park opening. But where are theses 'day guests' coming from? Buses. From resort to parks, start running by 6:30. Other than the park to park buses, what other buses would be running? Anyone could drive to Pop, for example, park there and hop on a bus at 6:30. To what end though? As you say, they can't get into the park without an ADR..I guess maybe it's just a question of semantics.

So I want to get from POFQ to the ESPN wide world of sports for a Spring Training game at 1pm. Is there ANY transportation provided to ESPN from anywhere???? (outside of marathon season that is...)

Buses run from All-Star Sports, Pop Century, and Caribbean Beach resorts. Unfortunately from all other resorts, you're looking at two bus transfers to get to WWoS.

I recommend taking a cab. It'll cost about $20 and will save you 90 minutes.

Hey thanks. I think we will Uber it for sure now that I know that the buses dont leave from any of the parks or DTD.

Be sure to plan on arriving early. As game time approaches, traffic approaching EWWS gets severely backed up.
