Thanks so much for the responses on area restaurants. I will let you know where we end up going. Maybe do a mini-food porn report.

Has anyone done the River Queen cruise? If so what did you think? How much was it?

I tried to go to the website but it looks like it is down. Sent them a message via FB and haven't heard anything back.

Will be at VB at the end of January into the beginning of February. Anyone there able to update as to where the beach renourishment is at! I am hoping to be able to walk the beach in some capacity! Looking forward to relaxing!
Thanks in advance!!
Cathy

As soon as we hit the 7 mo window, I'm hoping to snag a 1 bedroom September 5/6-12/13!

Dates are a bit iffy because I'm not sure if we'll drive or fly, coming from Cleveland. If we drive we'll probably rent a minivan or something as we have three under three! Anyone have any experience with driving down with infants/toddlers? I figure we'd likely stop off midway but I also worry the kids will go insane in the car! We've been flying to WDW proper, but I'm figuring we'll need a car in Vero anyway.

We have an Owner's Locker--I'm assuming they do NOT deliver to Vero, is that safe to say?

Are there decent walking/strollering options around the grounds/beach or is it fairly isolated? What is to the north and south of the resort?

Have you done day excursions? If so, what were some of your favorite, and do you think they'd be suitable for little ones? I'd love to see the turtles but I think we may miss them. I think the everglades may be a bit too far but I'm not sure.

Has anyone ever split Vero with, say, a trip to the Keys, or is that crazy?

Hi Guys, just booked a 1BR villa for August 3-9 using my HHI points. I am looking for the rack rate for the room, but cannot find it? (I like to see how much I am really saving.) Can't find it on https://verobeach.disney.go.com/ because there is no availability.

Well I looked again on https://verobeach.disney.go.com and this time there was availability. Current rate (not necessarily rack rate) is 2810.52$ for the 6 nights. If someone has the rack rate for the whole year, I am still interested.

We are considering a visit to Vero Beach with our 1 year old for a few nights at the end of April. We have been to WDW many times, but never to a beach in Florida. Trying to decide which beach to choose and how many days to allocate to DisneyWorld vs. the beach portion of our stay. Would appreciate any feedback from those in the know here who can help us figure out if Vero is a good match for us:

1)We would be in a Deluxe Studio. Will there be enough room for the stroller, pack n play, and luggage for us to move around comfortably?

2)I was initially considering a beach on the Gulf as I understand the Atlantic side can be rougher for waves? Is that the case? We'd like our little guy (who will be 15 months) to be able to at least walk in the ocean's edge with us--the trip will be all about creating memories with him, so a gentle beach is important.

3)I've read several reviews online indicating the rooms and mattresses are worn, and then other reviews that don't say this at all. We are there for the beach, not the rooms, but it is our big vacation for the year, so we don't want the rooms to be a poor value either. And the comfort of the beds is very important to us.

4)Lastly, for those of you who have split your time between Vero and WDW, what did you find to be a good mix of time between the two. We will have 5-6 days for both. We have debated spending the whole week at a WDW resort and choosing a closer beach for a day trip or two as well. I'm just thinking with a little one, it may be best to stay at the beach so we can come and go for naps and not have to drag an umbrella for shade.

Would appreciate any feedback. It's very cold here in the Midwest and I'm counting down the days to Florida sun!

We stayed in a studio in August 2013 and loved it. VB seemed to be in pretty good shape, including our studio. In better shape than other DVC resorts like OKW or BC for example. I think some people mix up "themed" with "worn out".

Although the sea can be treacherous at VB, your kid will be able to experience it safely by himself (with you at his side) at high tide. Make sure to go to the public (supervised) beach just north of the resort.

There is ample space for a family of three in a studio. I'd stay no less than two nights if I were you. Be sure to sign up for some activities, can be fun for adults too! There is a banjo player who plays on the back porch at night. Impossible for kids not to dance! Go to the fire pit for s'mores, and enjoy the pool!

Have fun, I wish I could come with you and get out of the Canadian cold winter myself!

Booked a 2 night OVIR stay, January 2-4. We have a DCL cruise out of Miami beginning on January 4, and we like to enjoy VB before cruising!:thumbsup2
We have another 2 night stay there before the DVC Member Cruise in August, too!
Bobbi:goodvibes

We will be doing the same in a few months. Starting at Vero for 5 nights and then doing 4 on DCL. Can you give me an idea of the drive from Vero to Miami? How long did it take you? Did you park at the port?

Add us to the list. It will be are first time. Going Aug 23-28th. Also does anyone have pictures of the inside of the Deluxe Inn Room Ocean View?

Jsantini....IMHO

I am at Vero now and have been for the last 2 weeks. This is my 1st time here & last.
I live by the Atlantic Ocean in NJ and know how dangerous the waters can be.
That said, I sadly see no difference in the water color or wave action here and the drop off's to deeper water come up quickly. Only the palm trees show me I'm in Fla.

When I have stayed in the Ft. Lauderdale area or further south on many occasions.....the water is gorgeous with many combinations of blue color....and the waves very calm and you can walk a fairly long distance into the surf..safely.

This is "not" the place to have kids on the beach besides there's no lifeguards. If you want to only get your toes wet & make sand castles...then OK.
If I were splitting a stay...taking kids....I would definitely do the "west coast". There's sooo much more to do and the Gulf is beautiful, wonderful & calm.

By the way. ........the beach was closed yesterday for replenishment of the sand and will be closed for 2 weeks.

We like to leave Veto Beach by 8 AM. We had a rental cat to return to Miami airport. Alamo provides a shuttle to the port and we have done this twice, the first time there were no problems with the shuttle, this month there was an accident somewhere along the route and the line for the shuttle was enormous. Still, we were on board by 12:30.

The drive alone, from the resort to the airport is about 3 hours. Both Alamo and National provide the shuttle, we had rented the car at the Car Care Center.

There is a lifeguard at Wabasso beach just north of the resort, but you are right, the sea can be treacherous.
