The new BC CL looks awesome!!!! We stayed YC CL our last trip and the lounge is a bit snug, so it'll be a nice change when the new lounge is done there. We were longtime BC people, but with 5 adults, YC suits us better. If BC CL SV guaranteed us a full balcony, we may have gone back for our upcoming trip so we can experience that new lounge! We just LOVE coffee on the balcony, so YC it is!

We have made the date for our trip (when you update :good vibes ) May 16 - 22

Dee :worship: thanks for finding pics!! I tried! But didn't know where they were.
At first I was a bit (ok a lot) worried with a big connecting balcony & privacy. I imagined families moving into the other 3 rooms with herds of kids running around using balcony as a huge playground :faint: But the view was actually good for SV! And I was usually the only one outside sitting on balcony!

Our first room was the same one posted as worse view in WDW  and it is. I'm took one look and. closed the door, went back to front desk and asked if there was another room. I'll take the shared balcony room any day over that other view, ugh!!! I can't believe they pawn that room off to anyone esp at those prices, overlooking garbage dump is a bit much!!

Thanks to everyone for your replies. I think I'll do what Teena said and check how much $ for GV. I didn't know that was an option, thought standard & water were only categories. Thanks again, I'm getting so excited for this trip.

:welcome: back!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

Maybe this is the wrong thread to ask this, but does anyone have experience with Cape May Cafe breakfast on Christmas morning? If so, are the characters in beach attire or Christmas attire?

Fine to ask here, I hope someone has the answer.

You may also want to ask over on the restaurant boards, maybe someone there knows.

My guess is beach attire, but I honestly don't know.

:santa:

Please update our info in the Be Our Guest List as we are now officially booked from May 29-June 1 at YC!!! :)

Any recommendations for DH and I while the kids do a pirate cruise on our last morning? We will be having breakfast with the kids earlier that morning, and will not have park tickets.

Thanks!!!

Well, we are back from a wonderful stay at the Beach Club. I booked a room during the room discounts and was only able to book a standard room. I requested close to transportation and a full balcony... we were on the 4th floor all the way at the end of a long hallway and had a small balcony. My first reaction was disappointment, but after a minute of selfishness I got over it. I figured if I wanted an upgraded room, I should have paid for it. LOL. It ended up not being bad. The elevators move at super speed, so it doesn't matter which floor you're on, you'll get there in a jiffy. My 3 kids enjoyed racing and jumping down the long hallways. None of us minded the walk and we really enjoyed the room.

It was a chilly week, but we did get one hot day and really enjoyed SAB. My kids (and my hubby and I) enjoyed the slide, lazy river, and hot tub! After, we roasted marshmallows. Yum.

We had wonderful dining experiences. We ate breakfast every morning at Beach Club Marketplace. The coffee was delicious and I used my rapid refill mug every morning.

Lunches were varied depending which park we were visiting. We did score a Be Our Guest fastpass for lunch and we loved it. My 10 year old (still on kids dining plan) loved the Mickey meatloaf. He said that was his favorite meal. I had the turkey sandwich and thought it was delicious.

Our dinners were amazing. First night at Tutto Italia in Epcot, second night at Captain's Grille, third night at Arkeshus princess dinner, fourth night at Cape May Café, and fifth and final night at Sci-Fi Diner at Hollywood studios. All of our meals were so delicious. We had great food and great service at each place.

We had a wonderful vacation. Thank you for all of your help along the way.

My final thoughts... if you are staying at this resort, upgrade to the park hopper. The 5 minute walk to Epcot was so nice and the 15 minute walk to Hollywood studios was great. The buses were okay. Getting picked up to go to the park was never an issue. The only issue we had was waiting for a bus at Animal Kingdom. I felt like we waited forever for a bus to come. It was in the middle of the day, so I bet they didn't have many buses going at the time.

Wishing you all a magical trip!

BTW... it was good to meet you, Teena! Thank you for taking the time to chat.

It was super meeting you and I'm so glad you got one nice warm day for SAB. I'm sitting here wrapped up in a blanket ... it is forecasted to hit 38 tonight where I am (Clermont) but by the end of the week back to highs of 78 during the day.

Hope you come back to see us again before too long! Have a wonderful Christmas and New Years!!!

That worst view really is, isn't it? In August, we were a few doors down from that one and it was still pretty bad. And the service vehicles backing up at the crack of dawn were really annoying.

Hubby and I are currently staying CL in the BC from Jan 31 - Feb 6 to celebrate our 45th anniversary!!! However, I am really second guessing our choice! It is about $30 per day for the same Lagoon or pool view at the YC. Should we switch? Balcony, room view and proximity to the lounge/elevators is really important to us for this trip! Any construction is a problem because we expect to spend a lot of time relaxing in the pool, on our balcony and at the lounge. Also, we expect to sleep late most days.

Thanks for any thoughts/opinions!

Deciding on resorts in WDW is the best worst problem to have, isn't it?

One thing to consider is the BC CL & CL rooms are brand new! Just been refurbed. Dee has posted pics, have a look on pg 1. Only thing your not guaranteed is full balcony. But have request added to your reservation along with Anniversary details, and I think they'll try extra hard to get you your request for full balcony.

I'm soooooo glad they were able to move me. I can only imagine how much the garbage area would stink in the hot August weather.

Staying at BC end of Jan 2015.
With pool rehab, a bit bummed.
Did anyone ever send in a fax request?
When we have stayed on property elsewhere we have and requests have been granted.
Thoughts?

Does anyone know which end of the range Cape May dinner usually is for January? (Marathon weekend, specifically) All Ears has it from $39-$60. I usually would plan for the higher end of that, but this trip we have the dining plan. I get 3 TS and am using 2 of them for Narcoose's, so I am trying to figure out which of my other ADRs is the cheapest. :thumbsup2 Since it is our 5-year anniversary trip, and DBF's first real Disney trip (we stayed off site for a wedding in 2010), I've book a lot more (and in some cases, fancier) dining than I normally would/do, so I haven't had a DP in many years.

I am still kicking myself for calling a few weeks ago to get the deluxe dining removed from my package to save some money without my numbers in front of me, and trying to rush through the call. I guess when discounts were released, instead of applying the RO discount I had asked for, the CM had actually applied SPD. So, I thought I had full priced dining. After I hung up the phone from getting dining removed, I thought "the new package price doesn't seem as low as i thought it should have been..." It wasn't. Apparently the difference between having DxDP and no DP at all for 2 adults for 3 nights was less than $175. I wanted to cry. I tried to call right back but was told it'd be $300 to add it back on. :sad2: Lesson learned: always have my numbers in front of me, and pay attention to the CM on the phone!

Got it! I'll make the change.

:cool1:

How long does the pirate cruise last?

Maybe a swim without the kids, walk around the boardwalk, not sure that you will have time for mini golf near the Swalfin.

If Teena the greeter is on duty that day, visit with her in the lobby! :grouphug:

Hopefully folks will have some other suggestions.

:thumbsup2

Thanks so much for sharing the review of your trip!

Park hopper is so important when staying at the Beach Club or any EPCOT resort!

::yes::

I can certainly understand wanting a full balcony and the YC is the best way to achieve that.

It sounds like you have a WV room booked. If you are in a BC CL GV room, or can switch, I believe all of those rooms have full balconies and nice views, although not as pretty as a view of Crescent Lake or SAB. With the renovations to the lounge and rooms, I would consider that.

Good luck with your decision!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:woohoo:

Sorry about your disappointment with the pool rehab. The good news is that 2/3 of Stormalong Bay will remain open. Although I haven't personally experienced it, I think the work is well hidden from guests.

From what I have read, the resort does not pay attention to faxed requests. The best thing to do is to add your request to your reservation by contacting CRO (Disney's Central Reservations Office) or having your travel agent do it if you booked through a 3rd party.

:)
