Has anyone decorated their Magic Bands? Please show us the pictures!

These all look awesome! I made a disboard profile specifically to post the pics of the MB I did for my son! We're surprising our 2 boys w/ a trip to DW in 2 weeks! It'll be their first trip (they're 6 and almost 3). SO excited! I used all nail polish for this band. One down, three to go.

Starting to plan our bands for Jan. Since we live outside of the US I have to pre plan everything. Supplies seem to be my issue.

I am hoping to great one Tiger band and one giraffe band but I can't find the oil based sharpie. Any other suggestion or where I can order one online?

DH, DS1, DS 2 will just get temp tattoos on their bands. Can you dry the base coat nail polish with a blow dryer? I will need to get 5 bands ready in a short amount of time.

TIA

This WAS my dilemma as well until i had what i consider a brilliant idea. Someone mentioned using iron-on transfers and fabric covers. Well this lead to several days of googling our fav characters and images and i came up with at least 4 pages of images. I printed them out onto t-shirt iron-on paper and once i buy some fabric we will have LOTS of covers to use as we please. Ranging from Donald for me, pluto & tigger for him, to some Hallowe'en images & simple WDW designs all the way to a few anniversary ones (donald & daisy, lady & tramp)

I used the following dimensions for the images : about .85 " wide (someone mentioned at it's widest the band is 1") and 3.25" tall (this looks best on our wrists). I am using the directions found on this site to make the covers themselves. http://www.passporterboards.com/blo...ep-tutorial-for-no-sew-and-stitched-versions/ Hope i don't get in trouble for posting that link!!

Hope this helps you since i doubt you'll wanna spend hours painting them so they have sufficient time to dry :thumbsup2

Thanks I will check out the website. Someone I don't think the boys will be thrilled about me taking their bands for very long either.

If only Disney hadn't found some of the people selling decals. That would have made my life so much easier.

Mine dried really quickly, without using a blow dryer. I am in FL., and was surprised at how quickly I could add another coat or add more to my designs. You could easily base coat all of them and by the time you finish the last you can work on the first, etc..

I just picked up a bunch of tattoos today and am anxiously awaiting my bands so I can get to work!

Has anyone had experience with using regular stickers, as opposed to tattoos? I found many of the character tattoos I wanted, but not all.

Does anyone have any extra Minnie Mouse or Frozen tattoos they would be willing to send me? I will be happy to send out my extras when I am done as well. Today I bought Monsters Inc, Princesses, & Avengers.

Is anyone willing to measure and tell me the width of the colored part of the band? TIA

I had wanted this info before we got ours too.

At the widest part it is 3/4" at the bottom or top it is about 1/2 ". The length is about 7" but it does not get that flat.

I hope this helps.

Great job - your sons are going to be so excited. Plus to have decorated magic bands. We used nail polish on all of ours too. We have 7 down and 1 left to do. We have had so much fun doing this.

My pictures came out big too.

I'm so glad that I found this thread. I hadn't even thought about decorating the bands myself. I've done a few of mine so far. They're all broken down to "kid size" because I have smaller wrists and I don't actually wear the bands much anyway. I don't know how everyone is making such neat bands without breaking them apart. My first was a mess!

I didn't want all white bands, but wanted the images brighter so I used a glitter white polish. It was just enough to lighten the band for the image, but not take away the original color completely. It worked out perfectly! Only Aurora is a little pink in her face. These are all brighter than the pic shows.

The sides of the Snow White band didn't turn out so I cleared the images and left it. I loved the color of the band, despite the mistakes. :) It's tough to tell in the pic, but Tiana's band has a tiny star in the smaller Mickey head for Evangeline. :goodvibes

This was too much fun. I need more magic bands!

Great job!! May ask where you got the tattoos? I am having a hard timing finding ones that aren't too big!!

I have a bunch of Frozen tattoos but we won't have our bands until the end of Sept/beginning of Oct...is that too late to send you extra?

Here is our 6th and 7th Magic Band. 1 left and that is for my DH. We are surprising him with painting his for him. He loves all the planning we do and we will can't wait to surprise him.

Here they are: Mine is Its a small world - my favorite ride and Minnie is my oldest DDs. What we can do with nail polish? Crazy.

It's A Small World:

Thanks guys. I think Crush might be my favorite one so far too.

My DH, the wise guy, just took this picture. He says he's ready to go to WDW now. :lmao:

This is all the bands I have ever painted except for Rafiki, which is hiding in my DS's room somewhere.;)

Love them all. Very talented.

I recognize that I am an unapologetically ridiculous human. Here is my pink sparkly Miss Piggy magic band for my birthday trip (LEAVING IN SEVEN DAYS YAY):

It looks better from far away :rotfl:

OMG I love love love your it's a small world band. It's one of my favorite rides too! I couldn't figure out how to scale it down for a magic band so I'm just doing a small world theme on my painted TOMS. :cloud9:

Thank you! I practiced on paper and then just did it free hand. I am by no means an artist - but I love to paint and practiced on paper a lot. I love the way it came out. I would love to see your shoes - I might have to do them next - except I could remove the nail polish when I made a mistake. :)
