Do people sneak into the CL lounges?

I'm not asking for myself (I'd be too afraid of getting caught and banned from Disney:eek:). I was talking with an acquaintance recently about our next trips and she said they were going to eat breakfast in the CL lounge on their next trip, even though they have a regular room. I've never done CL but I'm pretty sure they don't let people just sneak in, right?

I am sure there is a way that they check to make sure you are a CL guest. Otherwise a lot of people would be doing that. I would never even think about doing something like that. OMG

How is she planning to get there? We had to scan our MB to get on the 5th floor when we stayed CL at the BC. I would imagine the other resorts have some similar measures in place. The breakfast in the lounge was nice and convenient, but nothing special enough worth the risk.

I know! when she said it I was like "Umm, I don't know about that....."

I also assumed that it was noted on your MB whether you had access or not. I personally would be so embarrassed if I was asked to leave. But I guess some people are pretty nervy:confused3

Well, you have to scan your band to get up to CL, so unless she is going to time her arrival with another CL guest that just happens to be going up at the same time, it's not going to happen.

Besides that, we have found the CM's on the CL's we've stayed at to be very attentive to the guests staying up there and they get to know who's supposed to be up there and who's not.

Sometimes people amaze me...:sad2:

As others have said, you need your MB (or room key, if you request one of those) to access the CL floor. She would have to be riding the elevator a lot waiting for someone to scan their band (or put their room key in the slot) to access the CL floor. With that said, GF has two CLs, one of which is an entire building rather than a certain floor, but is still keyed access. Anyone can linger around and just follow someone into the building, but the CL CMs usually know who is staying CL, so it would probably only be a matter of time that they were noticed as non CL guests and asked to leave.

It's never easy getting up to the concierge level at any resort except when you catch someone staying on that floor going up in elevator. The moment you get off the elevator usually someone is checking or when you try to enter the lounge. The boardwalk,Yacht/Beach,Poly,Grand Floridian and Contemporary are extremely hard to crash while Wilderness Lodge and animal kingdom are easy.I have stayed Concierge level at all that Disney offers. If someone is crashing the concierge lounge every trip they are extremely lucky that they are not being checked and are finding a way to go onto concierge floor since they block all access other then elevator.Concierge workers will know if your not a guest since they have a check-in desk on the floor and until now with the new bracelets you room card key was different.

This exactly. The CL CM's even knew my kids names. At with CL at the Contemporary the CM desk is right there next to the lounge, as well as right in front of the elevator, and they always greeted us as we stepped off (and sent us off for wishes for a magical day). Plus CMs are always in and out of the lounge, replenishing things and picking up.

I would say sneaking in the lounge would be a nervy, impressive feat, at least at the CR!

If you haven't paid for it then don't do it. It's one thing eating at the QS counters at the Deluxe resorts, you are paying for the food, but, this is just cheeky.

It's pretty much stealing really.

We've seen what we interpreted as someone sneaking into CL before. One time I remember we had gotten into the elevator after someone else and the individual pressed the elevator button for a much lower floor than CL but then followed us up and got off at CL when we did. They looked a little lost when they got off the elevator but soon found the lounge. A few minutes later we noticed them taking a couple of plates of food with them back down the elevator. We've stayed CL a couple of times before on a floor other the CL lounge so it could have been legit but this individual seemed a little suspicous.

From what I've seen on various boards the food in the CL lounge is a nice bonus, but not really worth the Mission Impossible style techniques one would need to pilfer it! That being said I think some people just have a sense of entitlement. Like "I paid a lot to come to Disney, I deserve it." I'm not sure if I should warn this person, or let them try to get away with it and learn a lesson!

So, we're going to be staying on the Atrium CL level when we're there. I suppose it would be frowned upon to bring a couple of friends to the lounge to watch Wishes?

I tried searching, and don't want to do this if it's a big deal. We could always just bring our friends to our room and let them watch from our balcony.

I hope they do in fact get caught! We are doing a Cl stay for our honeymoon at WDW AKL, we paid a lot more for the room then a regular standard room! I feel like this is absolutely cheating and definitely wrong! OMG.. I would be the person to say something to a cm if something isn't right! ~stealing much?!~

Sneaking in is not neccesary in order to see what the lounge is like. A couple of times in the past, We've asked for a "Tour" of the CL lounges of some of the ones we've not previously stayed at and they we're more than happy to do so ... one of the CL CM's even told us to stay a while (this was during breakfast hours) and help ourselves to the offerings.

Yes CL is a nice bonus and one we're not having this year, but oh well we're still in Disney  As for sneaking in :tiptoe: probably tough to do, and something I'm not about to try

I don't stay CL, however, I do work in an access secured building and I suppose that has made me habitually cautious about inadvertently giving some one access where they don't belong - in my work situation it is a safety issue. My approach when someone who doesn't belong on the secured floors in the building hops on the elevator w/ me is to not swipe my access card until they are off the elevator on a non secure floor, it works great because the secured floors are at the top of the building.

I will do it too. I have never stayed in CL but I believe sneaking is totally wrong. I will blow the whistle.

There are people who access the CL the old fashioned way and omit the elevators and instead use the stairs, BUT that may work 1 or 2x after that the CMs in the CL become pretty savvy on which guests are CL and which are not and they will tell you to leave. If the guests persist with this behavior Security and if needed the Orange County Sheriffs Dept is involved and people ARE escorted off of WDW property.

I'm going to ask that I get access to the CL on my next trip. I was told I would have to be staying on that floor to get access to the CL but being that I'm paying cash for a Grand Villa, it would be nice if I could go get some breakfast in there. I guess I'll see how that works out. :confused3
