Disney Wonder October 11th, 2015 5 day Baja

:moped: I live about 20 minutes North of Disneyland (without traffic!!) and it takes us a little under 2 hours to get to the port in San Diego. (and that usually includes a stop!!)

:thumbsup2 Thanks that gives me a good idea. We actually have to stop A LOT...not just because of the 4 kids, but because I have Fibromyalgia :crazy2: And need to stop about every 45 minutes to 1 hour or else i'm in tears :sad1: One of the reasons we love to cruise is so I can go rest in the cabin and others can enjoy themselves it works out perfectly :)

:confused3 As for your question, WELL, it certainly isn't 7 days, but it is better than 2 or 3!! It is a taste and I do love to taste things!! I don't care where it is going, it is the fact that I AM going on a cruise that matters even if it is only 5 days!! :cheer2:

:goodvibes:goodvibes Your 1000% right!! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Hi everyone! Our family is currently booked on this cruise and we would love to be a part of a FE group. We were also on one of the Pixar cruises and just had a blast, my kids have been begging to go on another. I'm so happy DCL finally came back to the west coast. In the interest of full disclosure, we are also booked on the cruise the week of Oct 4. Although I would love to keep both reservations, we are just waiting for our school district to release the dates for the 2015-16 school year and then we will cancel the reservation that does not fit with the calendar. Hopefully we'll know soon. (psst...don't tell the other cruise, but we hope this is the one we get to keep. ;))

We are a family of 6, myself, DH, 2 boys who will be 13 and 11, and 2 girls who will be 8 and 7 at the time of the cruise. Here's our poll answers:

1) What city and state are you from? Gilbert, AZ

2) Did you book this cruise to avoid airfare or to pay cheaper airfare compared to other departure ports? Definitely to avoid airfare. In fact, if we had to pay for airfare, we wouldn't be able to do a cruise. San Diego is only a short 6 hour drive!

3) When you board this cruise, what number cruise will this be for you? 3 for me ( I did the first cruise to nowhere with my mom), 2 for the rest of my family, all on DCL. We have really no interest in any other cruiseline.

4) What category cabin are you booked in? Category 9C ocean view, connecting rooms. I was sad the secret porthole rooms we were in last time were already booked.

We are also booked in a category 9C. We are in cabin# 2114 (near aft elevators port side). Which one is yours?

My DH and I have a DD (that will be 8 at time of the cruise) and DS (4 at time of cruise). :cheer2:

Oh no! I'm so sorry about the fibromyalgia! I used to have it and I can't imagine what you've been going through! We love cruising so much because you can decide what pace you want. We also love relaxing in the cabin!

LOL...Thank you! I can't believe it's been over six months and I'm still not finished! Next time I vow to take more notes! Thankfully I take tons of photos so I can kind of piece things together from that.

I admit - best idea EVER! The kids even had to remind me once or twice ... 'hey mom, you haven't had your drink yet!' (Sniff...I have awesome kids...)

This was the original 'Wish List':

  • Order room service breakfast! (check!)
  • Try the Drink of the Day every day! (check and mate!)

  • Watch at least one movie on funnel vision (meh...does part of three movies count?)
  • Have a nightcap in each of the bar (epic fail!)
  • Family photos - formal night - white background! (half a check - we did the formal photo but not the white background...it was an impulse decision)
  • Go to the 'game shows' in Studio Sea (match your mate, mickeymania, etc.) (fraction of a check - we went to the 'how well do you know your family' show)
  • Take cabin pictures *before* we get it all messed up (Ha! Just not possible!)
  • Enjoy the sunset from a deck 4 lounge chair (perhaps with drink in hand?) (Sadly, no...but I get to move this on to my 'new' wish list now )

Hmmm... You've inspired me to create one. I've also told DH he has to come up with one also. I told him it has to realistic (can't say "win bingo"!).

Me:
1) go up on deck when we arrive at each port and take photos. :beach:
2) go to cove cafe and have an early morning coffee every day before everyone wakes up
3) get a new DCL Dooney and Bourke purse and possibly jewelry (nothing too expensive)
4) go to Palo brunch on both sea days

DH:
1) he says he wants to go on all the alcohol tastings!!! I said, "What?!? That's not possible!" (Do you know how much that would add up?!?) :confused3
2) he says he wants to go to all the bingo sessions (seriously...is he intentionally trying to rack up our onboard account?!?) :crazy2:
3) get the DCL beer mug with token
4) watch the new movies in the theater

DD & DS (at time of cruising 8 & 4) (these are my wishes for them):
1) go to Oceaneer Club and Lab without having the CM's use the wave phone to call us back (during Palo brunch and would love to just enjoy the adult pool for once) :thumbsup2
2) go to a family night activity
3) make new friends!!! :goodvibes

Ha, ha, ha!!! This is just a tentative wishlist! What do you think? :flower3:

 I think you are off to a wonderful "to do" list. Do you drink?? I don't see "have the drink of the day with fergusbc and poohbear64". :rotfl2:

Our room is sort of close to you, just on the other side of the ship about 6 doors down. :dance3:

I actually do not drink but if our group had a DISMeets alcohol tasting, I'd go to see everyone then DH could have my servings!

We're almost neighbors, haha! We're in 2122 and 2124.

I think my DH is going to want to hang out with your DH :rotfl2: !!

My DH did FOUR tastings on our last sea day on our last cruise!! I'm impressed he even remembers being on a cruise! It wasn't really planned that way but that's how it fell out and he went with the flow...or the pour, as the case may be!

Wow, I did one Mixology and I was ready for a nap ;) I guess it depends on how much you taste of the drinks at each tasting :lmao:

After my first mixology, I went to the future cruise desk and booked another cruise. I still joke that that was my most expensive drunken shopping trip ever :rotfl2:
(I really wasn't drunk and I was planning to book another one anyway...but I still like the story).

I also don't drink any alcohol at all, and  gasp I don't drink coffee either :) I don't even like the taste of coffee candy/ice cream etc.

That's ok...if your DH drinks we can still go to the DISmeets alcohol tasting and hang out! :) I saw on your ticker that your family is going to DLR!!! We are locals and we are doing a staycation the week of July 6-11. We are staying on property for the first time & will be staying at VGC. Hope you have a blast! :yay:

LOL...Hmm...maybe I should ask DH to confiscate my KTTW after the tastings!

 Finally I have found someone like myself that doesn't do the coffee thing. UGH, can't stand anything about it taste or smell, ick.

First post and hope I'm doing this right...

It will be my DDs 21st birthday a few days before so she has an idea we may do something.

This will be our third cruise. First was the Magic in 2011 (western Caribbean). Second was Fantasy Eastern Caribbean in 2012. Both were great.

As live in Vancouver getting to San Diego will be so much easier so that played huge factor in decision to take this cruise.

My other DD will be 10 at the time of this cruise. She loved the last two, especially the kids club.

We will pass on the FE though the look like fun.
