A Mother's Day Cruise on the Fantasy sandwiched between BCV (Complete 10/12, p.33)

Hello everyone and welcome to my most recent mother/daughter trip. Trip dates were May 9 – 19 2014, a very special Mothers Day trip to celebrate my very wonderful mother. My name is Pam and my mother’s name is Jeanette.

Itinerary:

May 9 – 1 night at the Beach Club Villas, Deluxe Studio

May 10-17 – 7 Night Western Caribbean Cruise on the Disney Fantasy

Day 1 – Embarkation
Day 2 – At Sea
Day 3 – Cozumel, Mexico
Day 4 – Grand Cayman
Day 5 – Falmouth, Jamaica
Day 6 – At Sea
Day 7 – Castaway Cay

May 17-19 – back to Beach Club Villas, 1 Bedroom Villa



We’d been looking forward to this trip for 13 months. I am a DVC member thanks to mom’s prodding to go to a meeting and it is also thanks to her that we’re in love with DCL. When I bought my first set of points, yes there have been more, I was given the previous year’s set as well and really didn’t have a use for them. Mom suggested we try a cruise and the rest is history. Neither of us had really been interested in cruising but we knew the Disney brand well after trips to WDW and knew it was an excellent product. Cruising went above and beyond our expectations.

This was mom’s fourth and my fifth cruise, all DCL. We have been on the Dream, the Wonder, and the Fantasy. For this trip it was all mom’s choice which ship and resort we stayed at, it was Mother’s Day after all. She had dubbed the Fantasy as her favorite after sailing on her last year so wanted to go on the Fantasy again. No complaints from me, I love them all. The cruise was booked and I waited impatiently for my 7 month window to open up for the BCV. All the chips fell into place quite easily. The BCV was a first for both of us. We had stayed at the YC when it first opened for my first ever trip to WDW so were familiar with the fabulous SAB. Needless to say we were looking forward to exploring that wonderful pool again.

Be Warned: I’m a very amateur photographer, a lot of my pictures are crooked, I point and shoot at whatever catches my fancy. I might start to ramble or go off tangent, stick with me, I usually get back on course.

We started with a very early trip out of Maryland at 6:15 am. No luck on an extra seat between us, it was a full flight. We were at MCO by 8:30. Love the short flight to FL! Straight down to DME where we scanned our handy dandy Magic Bands and were directed to lane 4




Almost immediately we were in a bus and about ten minutes later we were on our way. It was not the smoothest of rides, at one point our driver pulled over to the side of the road and announced there was a warning light on. He said turning the bus off and back on again might reset things. Thankfully it did…




I was hoping for an alligator sighting but was not in luck



We were back on the road shortly and at BCV at my estimated time of 9:30.







The place was gorgeous! I love how each and every resort at WDW is totally different and evicts a different atmosphere. (I will probably say how much I love something Disney related many many times on this TR, sorry if that annoys you)

We checked in with the amazing Ronna who went out of her way to make us special Mother’s Day Celebration buttons. She was awesome. And would you believe our room was ready? Totally awesome. We headed to the room after stopping in the shop to buy some soda, I’m a soda aholic. It’s true, I own it.

I had just read about this beautiful room on PIO’s and Corinna’s reports so was excited to see more of it.





You’ll see more pictures of mom than me on this trip. One; because I’m taking most of the pictures, two; because I don’t like my picture taken.

I thought the hallways were so naked. They needed pictures on the wall desperately.



We were in the room before 10:00, we couldn’t believe our luck.

Once I took all my pictures I texted a Dis friend that I was hoping to meet up with today. She and her DD were going to be at DTD today and the plan was to text when mom and I got in. They were heading there shortly so we headed out.

Courtyard between the villas and the main resort. The walkway was lined with huge gardenia bushes. The aroma was intoxicating.





We didn’t know where the buses were so checked with a lobby CM.






It was a little bit of a walk to the buses and probably my only negative about this beautiful resort. Sharing with the other resorts made for a long ride.

It was a very smooth trip down. I had a moment of panic when the bus was pulled over but that was remedied shortly. We couldn't believe the room was ready, I don't think that has ever happened before.

Thank the maker indeed! AKV has those heavy bedspreads. BCV had lovely fleece blankets as part of the sheets.
