2014 Grand Floridian Resort & Villas FAQ: Vacationing in Grand Style!

I don't think the reviewer in the most recent refurb confirmed that there was a daybed in the deluxe room. In the most recent room configuration deluxe outer building queen rooms only contained a sofa not a day bed. We think from the photo that there is a daybed there now but I don't believe we have received any real confirmation of this.

The deluxe queen rooms in the main building have two queens with a sofa and plenty of space for a rollaway. We have never had any trouble receiving a rollaway as we stay in this room category frequently and try to avoid anyone having to sleep with our daughter(unless you really want a black eye).

I am curious what the main building rooms will receive with the refurb.

Hi baler I agree..those deluxe queens are so nice....:goodvibes The ones with the courtyard view are in the perfect spot..such a nice view..and super close to the lounge...;)

As for the daybeds in the recently refurbed outer building deluxe rooms...hairychest did indeed confirm that the small sofa/love seat in the seating area has been replaced with a day bed! ::yes:: :woohoo: Now lets hope that carries through to the refurb in the CL deluxes too...

Oh, I'm sorry...I meant the main building!

Yes, I can never find them on the website, and I was sure that there were some in the main building, as I've seen photos of them.

I wanted to make sure they have a day bed, and if I'm correct, I remember from the photo that they did. Maybe??:confused3

we're staying in a deluxe room, main building this coming week. I've noticed that online when a main building deluxe room is listed its always a king room. queens do exist though because we're booked in one and so is my grandmother. I've also never seen the main building suites listed although its my understanding the 5th floor alone is all suites.

take this for what its worth, I can confirm next week. We have a total of 6 rooms RPC booked for next week. IPO was amazing working with me on the rooms. going so far as stating room numbers (and of course not guaranteeing) what rooms we will be in. I think this was done to simplify discussions about how to work out the rooms and it wasn't a request of mine...i didn't ask about my room number I mean. apparently room 4419 (and i could have that second 4 wrong) is a handicapped roll in shower queen deluxe room and 4420 next door (or vice versa) is a regular queen deluxe. I got the impression that handicap accessible or not the rooms on the 3rd floor so what 4319 and 4320 (?) would be deluxe rooms...perhaps queen perhaps king. I gathered (could be wrong) that there are about 5 deluxe rooms on the 4th floor. I think the 5th floor is suites and I think there are another 5 deluxe rooms on the 3rd floor. I AM NOT STATING ANY OF THIS AS HARD COLD FACTS. Just passing along my limited understanding based pretty much solely on a map I pulled on touring plans as well as my conversations with IPO.

I'm not sure what was meant about the main building deluxes not having the separate seating area but I asked to peek at the room that was discussed with me through IPO when we stayed RPC for a mini-trip earlier this month and there is in fact a separate seating area, at least in the room I viewed. maybe the poster meant based on the layout of the room there isn't really a SEPARATE sitting area but just a part of the main room?

my understanding has been that the deluxes do not have day beds which is why they are listed as sleeping 4 and not 5. However like a pp pointed out it appears that the updated deluxe rooms will have a daybed and not just a couch. If that is the case I'm guessing the rooms will begin to be bookable for parties of 5?

anyways..... I'll be happy to share pictures, room numbers, and view images from all of the rooms in our group when I get back. currently we have 4 theme park view std rpc rooms booked and 2 deluxe rooms which do not have tpv...in fact I don't think any of them do but could be wrong. I'll check out the daybed situation and report back as well ;) Although I'm sure someone else on here will be able to provide more details and sooner! I always thought I was pretty knowledgeable about disney until joining the dis. learn something new every day :)

Maybe this will help. The deluxe rooms RPC are larger than normal rooms. The lodge tower outer building rooms are what Hairy Chest posted and has a bump out. I have stayed in the king deluxe RPC and the lodge tower in SL.

The king deluxe RPC come in 2 types. Octagon room with walk in closet and no balcony or a std size room with jacuzzi tub and balcony on 2nd floor overlooking gaspies and have a MKV.

The queen delixe RPC come in 2 sizes as was just talked about above.

Also we had a king room RPC that can be used as an add on for a suite. Room was on a corner with a double sized balcony. Room number 4329( I think).
We booked std RPC and requested a king and that's what we got.

Confusing with not all rooms listed on site:rotfl:

jcjen519.....Thank you so much for the info, and any future info that you might have.

I only knew about the old "Lodge Tower" rooms which are now "Garden outer bldg deluxe" rooms, that previously had only slept 4. And as HairyChest states, now has a daybed couch. I knew that these were in the turrets.

It's just the main bldg that is so confusing!!!::yes::

My sister and I are trying to get my mom and other sister to join us first week of December, but they might not. We were thinking of getting a deluxe room this time. We've only ever done garden view outer bldg.

It's also know as PAS-crastination, as I am know to pack last minute...very last minute :rolleyes1

You are HILARIOUS!!! :rotfl:

GF IPO is just top notch...glad that they have been so helpful in planning your family get together...:goodvibes

To the best of my knowledge 4420..and 4320 are both queen deluxe rooms...and 4419 and 4319 are handicap accessible queen deluxe....not positive if both of the 19 rooms are HA though..?

Fifth floor is almost all suites.. there are two deluxe king rooms on that floor also.... Just like the one Trisha has described...

As for a separate seating area in those deluxe rooms...there is not a bumped out area like there is in the outer building deluxe rooms...4320 and 4420 do not have a separate seating area at all...it is a very nice large room with adequate space for the small sofea...a sofa table..end table.. coffee table..and even a small table and chairs (lots of tables!!! lol..) ...not sure what type of seating or how separated that it is in the other shaped queen deluxe as I have not stayed in or seen one of those...?? There is a picture of either 4319 or 4419 ( I think!!??) on the first page of this thread...I dont think it shows the nice big entry way though... which even has a small entrance table/coat tree in it...yet another table...lol.. Its a beautiful room...and the balconies for these rooms are right above the courtyard entrance to the main building... overlooks the entire courtyard area...and you can see the high MK fireworks....:goodvibes I'm sure that you and your family will enjoy your RPC stay..and especially those wonderful rooms...

BTW baler Thanks for that link...I always read EasyWDW..and never knew that they had a forum there.............??????????:upsidedow

So I ended up requesting Big Pine Key upper floor for our garden view room in july! I hope this is a good location! It sounds like it is! Anyone else stayed in this building? Can you see wishes from the upper floors? TIA!

I forgot to mention with the queen deluxe in the main building that the bathrooms are also different within the different shapes.

For example, we have stayed in 4320 and 4420 which have the rectangle shape and a very large garden tub, I mean huge as in as a vertically challenged person I have a hard time getting in and out of them as a shower.

We have also stayed in 4322 and 4422 which are the triangle shaped rooms and they have a normal tub. These two rooms also have oversized or double balconies where the rectangles were normal.

There are a total of six queen deluxe in the main building 4319, 4419 (these I have never stayed in) 4320,4420 rectangle (my favorites) and 4322 and 4422 the triangles.

Now for the numbers I am just going by my room numbers so I could be wrong but I think with what PP posted that they are the right numbers.

Also, while I have not slept on the rollaway my son claims they are comfortable and I have tried it out and it was a very nice mattress on the rolling bed frame. In the rectangle it fits very nicely in the corner where the connecting door is.

Fab split! :beach:

Thanks! We think so too! :goodvibes

That sounds like a wonderful trip! We LOVE the GF and it was also my husband who wanted to try it for the first time. enjoy it!

ETA:

we love so many things about the GF! the polynesian was always my resort of choice but GF club level service blows the Polynesian out of the water...although there are aspects of the polynesian cl i do prefer. We love taking the monorail to the MK since its the first stop after the grand floridian and then taking the boat back from the park. love that boat ride the grounds are so pleasant, there are so many dining option. we have no problem filling resort days. between the pools and activities, the main lobby music and shopping. we've done both sl and rpc and are returning to rpc on saturday for a longish stay. just can't wait! you're really going to experience the best of both worlds. enjoy that epcot access and the easy walks to all that great dining while at yc! I really want to do a yc or bwi stay - maybe 5 days or so and then do the same at the GF or poly when its complete. However I am one who will book a split stay and then chicken out at the last minute and end up back at the polynesian or gf Enjoy!

Thank you!! We are sooo looking forward to the ease of transportation and great dining options just footsteps away!!

Sorry that I missed this in my multi quote bonanza!! What a wonderful split...seems like the best of both worlds! Congrats!!! I am sure you will love your first GF stay.... Its an amazing resort!

Thank you!! It's a big trip of "firsts" for us! First deluxe stay, first time to the dark side :rolleyes1 , and first time driving instead of flying!

I think I'm going to reserve a Main Bldg Deluxe Rm 2 Queens, and request the rectangle shape (I know the shape is not guaranteed). Sounds like it is a great room.:dance3: We have never stayed CL!!! :dance3:

Can anyone tell me if they have Disney Dollars you can buy at the resort desk? I have been playing a game with the kids getting ready for our Disney trip and first time at the Grand Floridian and need those Disney Dollars for their prizes.
Thanks for any help. So excited, we arrive in 9 days!!:yay:

:goodvibes Hi MommyG !!!

I have never seen them on the website either...??? But as I said there are a few deluxe queens...In the past they did not have a day bed..only a love seat that did NOT open into a bed...but....who knows now with the refurbishments what will be...the outer building deluxe rooms didn't have a day bed wither and now they do....so I am hoping that htis will be the case with the deluxe queens in RPC too....Seems silly to have all of that extra space have a room that only accomodates 4...

We are staying in a deluxe in RPC in August. I called to see if we could add another person by adding a roll-away-bed, but they said I would have to change to a "standard" to fit 5 people. We kept the deluxe. I'll be a bit upset if we go and they do have a day bed, and I could have brought that 5th person with us.
:sad1: .

I totally agree with you!!! It does seem silly to accommodate only 4 people in such a big room. We have been lucky enough to have stayed in deluxe RPC a few times. Last year we were not that lucky.

:surfweb: Good afternoon fellow GF fans...

Thank you!! It's a big trip of "firsts" for us! First deluxe stay, first time to the dark side :rolleyes1 , and first time driving instead of flying!

What a double treat staying CL and in a deluxe room to boot! :dance3:

I wasn't this lucky. I tried to get a rollaway for my upcoming trip and they said they couldn't. I don't know if it was because I wanted to add a 5th person. I wonder if they would have allowed it if I asked for it with just the four of us?

Did you call CRO about that?? I think that maybe you should call IPO at the GF and ask them directly?? Of course we wont know for sure until after the refurbs about the sofa being changed to a day bed....but I am guessing that it will be...and maybe they will be able to help you out?? :wizard:

How nice that you have stayed in those deluxe rooms a few times..they are hard to book!

Hope that everything works out and that you are able to add the extra person to your ressie.. :goodvibes

I called the regular reservation number. I didn't want to tell the girls until I had everything set and I'm glad i didn't because it didn't work out. I didn't think about calling direct and now it's too late.

We have been lucky to be able to book deluxe in the past, but we're not always that lucky.
However, last year we stayed on the 5th floor in a much smaller room than your regular standard and we LOVED it. It felt like we had the entire floor to ourselves. My DS6 in on the autism spectrum and the 5th floor was perfect for us. Let's see how it will go with him this year.

I have been reading the room request posts and wanted to ask about noise in the hallways being heard from inside room. Is location near an elevator make a difference? We are going August and have outer building, garden view. I know want upper floor request but was wondering about this. Thanks
